High tolerance for abuse and disrespect was taught in childhood. All connected to people-pleasing, always being nice, not knowing your boundaries (did not have any in childhood). This learned behavior (called fawning) can be a trauma response to neglect, criticism, or abuse, as the child tries to maintain safety and approval in their parental home. In adult life these behaviors are maintained (especially in intimate relationships) until the person realizes and processes what happened in their childhood without sugarcoating it.

me as a teenager: man it sucks to have no privacy or autonomy but i guess its for a good reason. when i turn 18 i will realise how young i was and understand why they did all that.
