@hellosci
lol i'm doing reactions to AoP
too bad you already reacted to my song :(
right now your song seems like the Green Bay Packers in a Pee Wee Football league lol
ahahaha omg
my song fits into the latter half of the album nicely though
someone spotted me in TPP’s chat last night :O
One of the things I’ve wanted to do in this fandom is attend a con, partly to meet friends I’ve made online and partly for the sheer experience of it. BronyCon 2014 seemed like a perfect opportunity to do so, being one of the largest cons out there (which by corollary means I would likely see most…

Motherfuckers don’t have time for 100 C-list musicians to tickle you guys’ fancy anymore with their pony references.
...
Clavi’s Tumblr: BronyCon, this was the last straw.
...
Oh and Silva: as far as BronyCon is concerned, I’m a C-List musician.
...
C list
...
If sci is a “C-list musician”, then all you other muhfuckaz is Y, Z, and Ӫ list musicians. And don’t give me that “he doesn’t make music that would rock a concert” shit either.
Just for the record.
from the soft spectrum 2 judging sheet
of course it's a train wreck to paste in here, so I'll just paste the comments from each judge:
senntenial:
Great intro, synth is a little heavy on the high end - some things are a little too crunchy to be relaxing/chill. And, woah, actual sub! Woo. Ouch, that snare is annoyingly nasal - so is the EP. Absolutely love the chords here - very refreshing. Sound design overall is very creative, though the mixing suffers quite a bit. Song doesn't evolve that much. Seems a little rushed.
kyoga:
rather interesting introduction with the array of synths you provide. the mix has a feel of barely holding together, like it's just a half step from falling apart, but then you transition into this wonderful and well-strapped pad which is assisted by all the other elements. Your use of effects here is quite effective (see what I did there...?) as you introduce percussion and the pads and progression starts to move outward you include a much larger peripheral of the stereo field. Quite impressive with the transition, actually. great job. I think the distortion here might have been a little bit too much, but I digress that point. it was well put together in that sci fashion everyone knows and loves. an interesting other direction from you entry last year.
freewave:
A wide array of arpeggiated noises and then a nice distorted pad for a moment. Does get into a very loud and throbbing beat that seems quite abrassive but interesting. Definitely one of the few adept IDM entries for this comp. Not my favorite but worth likely voting in.
4thimpulse:
- Right off the bat the mix is messy. It sounds like you spent the most minimal amount of time you could on the mix. - Frequencies are missing, frequencies are harsh and too built up, some are too dull. - wow, songs over... that was fast, not necessarily a good or bad thing though. It kinda felt too soon and somewhat abrubt. - Sound design is interestng at times but the poor mix takes away from it. All the distortions take away from the chill factor, not enough to hurt you much but it was too much.
total score was 129/200, four yes's, and an inclusion on the album.
with the magic of the search function, I found a thread where my album was the example for OP.
lots of nice things were said:
No.33279333 (OP):
ITT: Underrated shit I know it has a pony. I know it is based around MLP. But this album is actually amazing IMO http://soundsfromsci.bandcamp.com/album/atmospheric-pony-music
No.33279479:
Honestly I think this would be really well respect here if Rainbow Dash was taken off the cover and 'Pony' was removed from the name, good find OP,I like it.
No.33279569:
>>33279479 I'm surprised why a lot of people give bronies hate when it comes to tunes Some of them can make good shit
No.33279869:
why did that cover make me laugh so hard, op
No.33280066:
One of the best albums of 2011.
(I'm not sure if that last comment was even referring to me, but still..)
more /mu/ recs:
http://soundsfromsci.bandcamp.com/album/3s-polytope-ep >funk-house sci's music is pretty great, got lots of cool samples and releases new albums fairly often. also free to download
some kind words and recommendations from a /mu/ thread
No.38621353:
>>38620539 >SoGreatAndPowerful So we've got ourselves a ponyfag, have we? If you haven't listened to sci (he's somewhat known among artists in the pony world, but not so much by the average participant) I would highly recommend his album Practicing Retrocognition. It was my AOTY last year. >http://soundsfromsci.bandcamp.com/album/practicing-retrocognition
No.38622133:
>>38621353 Horse music is to blame for the huge gap in genres and artists I listed. Realistically there are about 30 more artists I should list, but since they're unknown fucks on YouTube it wouldn't do anyone any good. I have listened to sci's stuff. His music is in the top 10% of "stuff I enjoy," always interesting and good. Like his anosa stuff a lot too.
No.38622803:
>>38622133 If you are still checking this thread, I totally forgot about one other album. U.S. Killbotics - Songs About Robots (Vol. 0) >http://uskillbotics.bandcamp.com/album/songs-about-robots-volume-0 A quick runner up to Practicing Retrocog for AOTY last year. I would also suggest looking up the dude's youtube channel and looking at all the video descriptions for these songs. They're pretty good.
sci uses openmpt in ways i'm scared of trying.
