Being young and not being able to remember when it was that you first started hurting. When was the last time that I looked out of the window and saw a sky full of joy with no rainy clouds? Or the last time I looked at my dad and saw him as a safe place, and not a man? When was the last time that I woke up without this heavy feeling in my chest? Why can’t you remember?

But then again, those moments of happiness and love that you can’t forget, like your first day of school, seeing your mom after so many hours of being apart, being so glad to finally go back to her warm arms and going back home to get a bath, have dinner, and be put to bed. The first time you fell and scratch your knee, but you didn’t cry.

The ache in our hearts is nothing more than the yearn for happiness, innocent and pure joy that we find in the little things, but we forget about once we grow older.

When you are so used to hiding from the bad weather, it’s easy to miss the small rainbow that’s outside your window.
