hi. i'm using the Outlaw theme and I'd really like the notes/reblogs to show up when i click the post. how can i get that?

       it’s actually pretty easy, but i personally didn’t learn how to code it in until my third theme code.  

 tumblr has standard blocks that are what is the components of their html that is styled by that lovely css that tends to get miles long. you want to use the post html down at the bottom, the part that’s all between {block:posts} and {/block:posts}.

to make it easier for you, i’ve updated the base code to contain it, but to add it to your own blog, here’s how. 

first, replace your current permalink page css ( it looks like this. ) with this / add the following to it in the css section: 

.notes {  font-family: ‘font’; font-size: px; color: #000000; /* et cetera, it’s pretty easy to edit css */} of course, if you copy the above, you’ll have to edit in that css, but the link to pastebin is what i used to update outlaw. 

next, after you have that, you replace your current html ( it looks like this ) with this / or add in 

{block:PostNotes}{PostNotes}{/block:PostNotes}

you can edit the notes further, by using .notes a, .notes a:hover, .notes ol / .notes ul, .notes li and more or less other text stylings. it doesn’t really work with i or b, due to how the code works. i haven’t really tinkered with the permalink styling.

 i assume you know the basics and how links work. super basic html trick. 

some theme makers code in blocks with meta information, leaving you with customizability without having to open customize html. i’m going to go through the other possible version, where the theme maker did not ( or you’re doing this yourself ) first. 

so, where you have your links, if they’re in a line or scrambled, or however you have them set up, you’re going to want to take your link’s symbol or text and turn it into this:

the second, with the meta text tag for your symbol, simply take your image source link and plug that into that spot, so my little skull example i haphazardly threw together looks like THIS. 

the ‘meat’ of the link’s code is already in the theme thanks to the maker, so all you need is paste the code below into that text box.

this is a contained theme meant for roleplayers. it’s a lot more stylized than the last one with a list of options to choose from. it offers what i believe to be the most customization for this theme type without being overwhelming or exhausting to set up. included in the code are multiple notes that instruct the user on how to take the customization into their own hands. it’s mean to give the illusion of an elaborate theme with minimal effort given.

this theme was supposed to be inspired by kai but then kai got so much better than me that now it just is still inspired by kai but made so long ago who knows if ya’ll want this aesthetic still you move so fast but it’s a simple theme edit, user friendly af. except that the container is going to look wrong in the customize page. BUT IT ISN’T. if you use my psd it will line up if not u messed it up somehow?
