Hey everyone! The fandom has been pretty sleepy lately, so why not have a fun party to wake us up and have some fun? You’re all invited to join in on the 13 year anniversary of the Lorien Legacies series, where we’re going to bring out a fandom revival, bring out the fanworks and fan discussions, and enjoy ourselves in this small community!

Starting July 1st, we’ve opened up a bunch of projects and opportunities for you to participate, from trivia quizzes to fan comics to monthly activities where you get to partake in through any form of media that is your specialty, whether it’s fanart, fanfiction, fan edits, cosplay, music making, meme making, text posts, incorrect quotes, mood boards, or anything your heart desires!

We’ll also be providing you with fanworks from the fandom that have been here for ages, such as fanfiction you recommend we read, or prompt ideas that will get everyone talking with one another!

Call in other Lorien Legacies fans you know and join in on this year-long celebration from July 2022 to August 3rd, 2023. Let’s make this year count!!

After the War

With one final blow, the war that lasted much longer than expected ended. The Garde had lost. Together, they fought; together they died; together they cross into the Great Afterward. While the now doomed Earth reels from the loss of the only hope they had, it is bitter sweet for the Garde– they will finally be reunited with their fallen loved ones.

Adam is the first one to wake, and his eyes shoot to the blue eyes he had only seen in his dreams. One runs to him, and they embrace. He never thought he’d see her outside of his own mind. Feeling her hair, smelling the saltwater on her skin, and seeing her smile cleared any doubt he had had in his mind about the war. Despite all the losses, it was entirely worth it. His beach scene had become a reality.

Marina sees Adelina no longer dressed in her convent clothes. It is a foreign sight to Marina, seeing her formerly estranged Cêpan in jeans and a sweatshirt. Adelina shuffles her feet and shamefully refuses to make eye contact with Marina; however, Marina doesn’t care. She runs up to her mentor and hugs her with strength she never knew she possessed. Behind the two, there is a chuckling all too familiar to her. Her arms drop from Adelina and wrap around Hector Ricardo as he greets her by saying “Marina of the Seas”. Then, a pair of arms around her waist takes her by surprise. Eight lifts her off the ground and spins her around. The two continue their budding relationship as if nothing had ever separated them. Tears fill her eyes as she takes in her family. She wishes they had never died, but she also realizes that grief is what drives her Legacies. She wouldn’t have been the fighter she was if they had lived.

Six has a curt reunion with Katarina. It is obvious both are ecstatic to see the other, but their pride prevents a tearful and meaningful meeting. Katarina complements Six’s fighting, her ambition, and her fierceness; it is all Six ever wanted to hear from her pseudo-mother. Throwing caution to the wind, and taking Katarina by surprise, Six embraces her. The war had made Six realize the importance of love. The war had made Six soft. Sam watches the reunion at a distance, nothing but love in his eyes for the woman warrior. Malcolm stands beside him, stoic yet proud of his son and his almost-daughter-in-law.

Nine sees Sandor. He hasn’t aged a bit since Nine remembers seeing him last; now the two appear to be almost the same age. Sandor smiles a truly happy smile, one Nine hadn’t seen from him on earth. Devektra is by her boyfriend’s side, and she and Nine finally meet. Nine wraps an arm around the both of them, and ushers them away while he begins to give them “the talk”. He is just happy to finally see Sandor happy. Lexa trails behind, ready to surprise Vek the second she stops silently laughing at her reaction to Nine’s talk.

Daniela finally finds her mom, after years of searching. This is the first time since she began the war that she allows herself to be selfish and cry. She and her mom embrace, overjoyed to finally be united. Her step dad is even happy to see her and gets misty eyed at their reunion. Her family is finally whole, together, and happy– everything she’d ever wanted.

Ella finds Crayton in the place he’d always been happiest– amidst the chimæra. Dozens of chimæra that had fallen in the first battle of Lorien were frolicking, Crayton in the middle of them all just taking it in. Ella had never seen him so peaceful. She knew he was at home there, and her home was with him. They were home.

John sees a flash go off behind him, and his body goes hot and numb at the same time. His head whipped around to see the love of his life, and he ran up to her with tears in his eyes. He was sick of being apart from her. He held on to her and vowed to never let her go. Sarah pushes him off gently, and steps to the side. The tears in John’s eyes overflow when he sees the salt and pepper hair of Henri as he remembered him, vibrant and full of life. Henri’s eyes begin to water too. He tells John how proud he is of him, how happy he is with how he did, even if they had lost. Mark is by his side during the whole reunion, getting tearful himself at the sight.

The Garde all go to a large dining hall for their first meal in death. Around them sit the people they love most, and none of them could be any more at peace. A door opens, and the Loric that sacrificed themselves in the first war join them. While at first the newly dead may have been unsure about what this place was, the meal and the people confirmed that this certainly was heaven. They were finally able to let go; the war was over. They no longer had to run. They were free.

John and his name

John Smith has a complicated relationship with his name.

People often ask him, “What’s your real name? Everyone knows ‘John Smith’ is just an alias.” And John doesn’t really know how to respond to that. What is his real name? The one his parents gave him at birth? His number: Four? The name the media uses: John Smith?

His friends call him John but the last name Smith doesn’t feels genuine. John Smith was just an alias, never meant to last more than a year, yet here he is, years later going by that very name.

What name do you think John picks for himself?

Me, I think he perhaps reclaims the his birth name somehow. It’s not a name that people can easily pronounce, but he feels a special connection with it. A connection to his ancestry and culture. Maybe he chooses to keep Four somewhere in there, on official documents. Perhaps his friends still call him John sometimes and it remains part of his name, his identity, even if it’s not official anymore. Smith though? It never sticks, he drops it in the dust, a relic of a past full of running and hiding and pain that resurfaces from time to time on the lips of people who never really knew him.

Random bits of Lorien Legacies fandom history I remember:

- Everyone thinking Five was going to be a girl before The Fall of Five came out and people living their truth writing all those self inserts and oc girl fives who always ended up smooching Nine (who didn't love a good self insert?)

- all those anti Five memes after TFOF which were like "i am number four fans counting to ten 1 2 3 4 not you 6 7 8 9 10"

- that facebook game about mark james that may or may not have been a fever dream

- everyone calling setrakus ra mousetraps for some reason. I don't remember why.

- the fandom making Eight's sole character trait pizza because he referenced it one time. Also whitewashing him with Robert Sheehan edits.

- that time I was really into crack ships and someone took one look at a Nine/Marina fic I wrote bluescreened and did a whole essay on how ridiculous ships made them quit the fandom and everyone called them out on it

- Sam/Six ship being named Stormchaser

- When John/Six/Sam love triangle was going on and everyone went out of their way to hate on Sarah (and also that time everyone thought she was a traitor?? I forgot how that worked out my brain is telling me Setrakus shapeshifted into her but i haven't read it for ages so idk)

- the iconic fic I read once where the fic author didn't like Sarah so they included a scene where her head exploded and she was secretly a robot the whole time to get her out of the picture go bold or go home

- the time everyone started liking Sarah and making critiques of John's character and the series shitty writing #SarahHartDeservedBetter

- the time @officialpittacuslore rocked up, pointed at John and Nine and said "yes, I'll have some more of whatever those two have going on", dug a pit, labelled it 'Stohn' and everyone jumped in overnight (gay alien pit throwback uwu)

- astohnymous sending everyone in the fandom incorrect quotes on anon

- Six/Marina rising in popularity. Sirina supremacy. There is no heterosexual explanation for dreaming about seeing a girl on the beach that's soulmate energy right there.

- sandor/devektra/crayton/lexa fics and edits were a big thing for a while and devektra was always taylor swift

- the period before the revenge of seven was released where there was a countdown centred around celebration of fan content creation where everyone wrote fics and did art and edits for a certain theme!

- the time I got so annoyed by this random guy named Devdan just disappearing and never being mentioned again I made a whole detailed theory involving alternate timelines to make it so Devdan is Eight from a bad!future. I still think this is a cool theory and better than the actual explanation, bad and lazy writing.

- one time I ran a secret santa for the fandom and legend says I still haven't removed the page from my blog because I just forgot to for years. Literally. It's still on my blog. Wth?? Shameful 😔 my blog is terrible but what do you expect i dont get paid

- the shittacuslore and setracrapra RP blogs

- also I have a Malcolm roleplay sideblog I hardly ever used don't know if that counts as a significant moment of fandom history but I just find it funny how out of all characters I could have RPd I chose him. Could have picked a character with cool powers and telekinesis but I pointed at the local traumatised amnesia dad and was like "yes, I will be him", made 3 posts and never used it again.

- I've been an Adam stan since I first joined this fandom and the first thing I contributed to this fandom was a coloured pencil drawing of One wjth a surfboard, and it's been glorious watching Adam rise from 'character people are vaguely aware of but most haven't read the side-stories so they don't know about him to care enough' to 'fan favourite who deserves everything in the world and also look at him he's depressed and queer' (no I am not projecting ok maybe i am but can you blame me) anyway shoutout to Knave for all the Adam content over the years it feeds me

- The time people were coming up with shipnames for fun and I said Kevy for Kelly/Five and everyone rolled with it but it was actually a typo the whole time and doesn't even make sense when you look at it but it was too late to go back no i don't remember why we were discussing shipping kelly/five

- That solid week and a half everyone aggressively shipped Malcolm and Henri

- when legacies reborn came out and there was a resurgence of energy and theories around all the new characters

Anyway I joined the tumblr fandom ~2013 but I've been in this fandom since 2011, before The Rise of Nine was even released. Also what the actual bleeping heck it is 2021 and 2011 was TEN YEARS AGO?? A WHOLE DECADE????? Help
