Hollanov 3some fic where situationship era Ilya successfully talks Shane into a M-F-M threesome but before it really gets going, the girl decides she can't do this or gets a call she has to take or otherwise needs to excuse herself and Ilya shrugs and moves to making out with Shane bc he loves making out with Shane - and at first he knows Shane is worried about Getting Caught even though they're all here to have sex so that isn't a worry at all really. And the more Ilya kisses and gropes at Shane and the more it feels just like their regular foreplay the less he remembers there is even supposed to be another person in bed with them and he starts getting carried away until Shane says something about waiting for their date and Ilya realizes he he doesn't want to share Shane with her so he rolls their hips together and puts a hand over Shane's mouth and tells him that he'll have to be very quiet if he doesn't want her to find out what she's missing

The first draft philosophy that has finally gotten me writing for fun isn't "worst version of story" type framing, it's "tell the story to yourself."

Your story isn't ready for polished prose, you don't know what happens yet. This doesn't make it Bad Writing, it's a different type of writing. And this ties into why I think the plotter vs pantser debate misses the mark - both detailed outlines AND make-it-up-as-you-go first drafts are ways to make up the story. This part is for you, so how you do it should be whatever is the most fun or satisfying way to tell yourself the story.

New headcanon that even though Shane is a millionaire, his parents still technically pay his phone bill because it's cheaper on the family plan and it's a pain to change phone plans and deal with phone companies and the plan they're on has good coverage in Canada and the US without roaming charges so it's just more convenient to stay on his parents' plan.

They insist he doesn't need to pay them back, it's only like $40/month, and it's only a drop in the bucket compared to the money Shane's spent on them so Shane lets it go. When Ilya gets settled in Canada, the Hollanders find out he's paying like $200/month for some fuck-ass phone plan he picked out at 18, so he gets added to the Hollander family phone plan too.

Canon divergent au where the Hollander's find out MUCH earlier in the fraught situationship era bc David is squinting at the phone bill like "Sweetie? What is 617?" Trusting his partner to be Who She Is and sure enough a couple tip taps of the laptop later:

"Boston? Why? Who do we know in Boston?"

"Us? No one."

"Mhm...and?" Because Mrs. Hollander knows her husband and one of the key things they share is a tasteful love of gossip and being in-the-know.

"Well, according to the phone bill Shane is texting someone from Boston an AWFUL lot lately."

And there's a silent struggle as Yuna processes that Shane is texting someone enough that it impacted the family phone bill, because he knows how expensive texting is and he is usually so careful about his limits, even if he could pay for them a hundred times over until it finally hits the level of bafflement where she gets up to come hover over his shoulder rather than yell from the other room like they've been doing: "Who does Shane know in Boston?"

"No idea," David says, mild. Unassuming. "Though didn't he do that commercial with the Rozanov kid a while back?"

Just to poke her a little. Just to get her to scoff and mutter and simmer a little bit about the cocky kid who stole first overall from their son.

"No. Shane hates him - no way."

"Who else would he know in Boston?" David prods a little more. Just for fun, not really meaning it.

"What would they even talk about?" Yuna snaps, worked up enough she's all flushed and fussy.

"Evidently enough for $20 in overage fees." David says, and sits back to watch the show.

(Tho i also can't help but think its the opposite - Canada has some of the most outrageous and expensive phone plans in the world and I can just PICTURE the way Ilya seethes and froths about the base plan of $60 and needing to add data ON TOP of that. Calling Telus and spending 2 hours with escalating customer service reps until one eventually snaps when he points out for a 4th time the amount he was paying in Boston: "Well, if that's what you want, I welcome you to go back to Boston, Mr. Rozanov.")

I enjoy proximity (same team, etc) pining but I can't buy those set ups for Hollanov because I simply do not believe any versions of their characters that don't fuck immediately. If Shane and Ilya are in the same room for any length of time they're fucking. Doesn't matter what else is going on. They are incapable of not fucking each other if they're in the same place

Okay, so with the Spaghetti verse - I've put this out there before but I think you'd get a kick out of it.

Shane gets the call to foster not a fuck-off big snake, but a hognose - which the females top out at 36 inches. So Ilya hears this and is like "okay, yeah, a small snake (still big to him, but small compared to spaghetti)" only to face absolute betrayal at how spicy (dramatic) they are because "Why is he angry Shane?! Spaghetti isn't angry!:
