this is pretty old (back in june of last year, woah…) but it was when i was first trying to create art more focused on the subject existing with their environment, rather than in it. so i would place the subject in an unusual spot kind of? i also wanted to go for a fuzzy look that mimics video game concept art. i still use this style today :]

so many don't like Mareach because they miss the point! Mario doesn't want anything in return for saving Peach, it's not a classic damsel in distress / hero story, he just does it because he's naturally pure at heart and she is his dear friend, he saves everyone, it's just what he does

not saying that peach is insignificant to him at all or that he just sees her as another friend to save do not be mistaken, she is still very special to him in every way possible, he just doesn't except anything in return from her, he doesn't expect anything from anyone but especially her, because to him having her in his life is good enough, he holds their friendship so near and dear to his heart

he's completely selfless and peach admires him strongly for it. the way he's able to stay so strong through anything. and he in return admires her for being such a strong leader for her kingdom

their relationship is fun to explore and indulge in because they compliment each other so well, but you know it's years of pinning
