“And that would explain why you don’t hate the season. I, on the other hand spent much too much time in commute.”

Peter feels his heart do a strange little flip flop when she pats his cheek and he blinks up at her for a moment, before focusing his attentions on the man she had just dropped. “You know, I like working with people better. I used to work with a team. I think I might miss that.” He’s not sure why he brought that up. But Elektra brings up weird feelings in him, it’s just… weird.

Elektra studied him for a moment, before she merely shrugged. “I worked with people once upon a time, I can’t say it was an especially nice experience. Then again, we weren’t really a team.” She thought of Matt and paused, almost shook her head, no, even now he didn’t quite count.

“Thank you.” Matt unwrapped the wraps from his hands as he followed her to the space, breathing out an exhale that trembled in the air and made her clearer. He liked her shampoo. And then he threw a fist towards her gut, all boxing and with none of the finesse that came with decades of honed skill.

Elektra breathed out a sigh, let her shoulders drop before she moved, dodged the punch aimed at her, rolled and threw her elbow toward his throat. Just because Matt was sloppy didn’t mean she had to be. She tried to remain relaxed but this was all coiled muscle and tense hands.

“No no wires and computers go down due to the snow so it kept me busy”

“Ah, that makes plenty more sense, and I’m assuming you weren’t working on them in the cold cold outdoors.”

“She’s a very sweet woman,” he admits, watching the man as Elektra lifts him up. He stays back, because he knows she can handle it. And he’s squatting, blinking up at her. “Are you sure? I wouldn’t want to take a job from you.”

“Don’t concern yourself with it.” She smiled back at him, pat one of his cheeks affectionately before surmising the man would definitely be unconscious for quite a bit longer than she’d like, She dropped him with a sigh. “Peter I have no need of jobs except to stave off boredom, but there’s not much to boring here.”

Harry bundled up into his winter coat. “Speak for yourself.”

“At the very least it’s not literally icy.”

Kate lets out a soft laugh. “Really? Why?”

“He’s dead?”

Yes, but it is a problem for her. “I should’ve been more careful,” she says with a slightly bitter laugh. She’s over here hating herself and she places the wet napkins in the cup. “This is why I should probably just get cups that you can’t have the lid come off.”

“Accident’s happen.” It’s not said as a consolation, simply a statement, Elektra would have been mad at herself if she’d done the same, she doesn’t try to comfort her.  “Good luck with that, most cups that advertise that are a bit of an over sell.”

“I am going to miss the snow, It was always fine to play and and it kept me busy so I liked it for that”

“It kept you busy? Doing what shoveling?”

“Oh.” And he’s relinquishing his hold on the guy, letting him topple to the floor, gasping for air. “I have a friend, Jeannette, who set me up with this job. She didn’t want to do it herself and she knew I needed work,” he explains.

Elektra looked at the man floundering for breath and kicked him square in the jaw. “That’s sweet of her, I’m glad you’ve gotten some work.” Of course this is said while she’s hauling the man up, almost annoyed by the lolling of his head, still, she didn’t want him getting away while her and Doll spoke. It seemed rude to not have her attention on her conversation partner after all. “Actually I was offered a job but I don’t particularly feel like taking it, it’s not really something I bother with normally. I could put your name in.”

Babs wants to snap. She really does, but the woman looks nice. And Babs needs to learn when to accept help, even if she doesn’t want it. So she swallows her pride and nods. “That would be most appreciated, really. Thank you.”

Elektra can see the girl isn’t happy, well, neither was she, but still, she’d thanked her, even if she’d seemed short, it was a sign of level-headedness if you could be courteous even when enraged. “You’re welcome. It’s no problem really.” And it’s not, she grabs some more napkins before she stooped quickly mopping up the mess with a handful of napkins that are much too much for the spill.

Kate snorts a laugh. “She should know better than to even imagine that. Her teeth would be so far down her throat before she could even think about doing that. It won’t happen.”

“I should hope not, luckily enough for me, my father never remarried, though, sometimes I wish he had.”

“…Elektra,” Matt breathed as she was finally right there, and he slowed his punches until he could drop his fists, and he put his forehead against the bag. “I need you to help me focus.” Yes, that was a ‘fight me’ in floral form. “Please.”

Elektra didn’t bother saying anything, now wasn’t the time, not to her. She didn’t need him to explain any further, not really, and she looked at her hands for a moment, unwrapped and shaking just slightly with the sudden influx of adrenaline. She knew what was coming, it wasn’t long before she’d stepped away from the punching bag and made her way to the clear space they had used before. Her hands were sure when she tied up her hair and stripped off her jacket, left it unfolded on the floor. “Come on on then.”
