Neuroscience is very clear about this; our sense of ourselves and ability to truly “Know Thyself”, directly corresponds to our capacity to feel the physical sensations in our body and clearly interpret the signals received, so that we can care for ourselves properly and respond to our direct life experience appropriately.

Cultivating sensory awareness is a major part in trauma recovery and the restoration of the connection to our whole Self/Being.. many trauma survivors are masters at the art of numbing and this has allowed them to survive and cope (which is something to recognize and honor) but it has done so at the cost of their direct connection to their inner visceral experience; their ability to have a strong felt sense of self and to feel fully sensually alive.

According to Bessel Van Der Kolk in The Body Keeps The Score, trauma survivors need to learn that they can tolerate their physical sensations, befriend their inner experience, and are capable of creating new action patterns, neural pathways, and mind-body connections.

the love i felt for you, the connection we shared... u made life worth living i dont know how to live fully for myself i want 2 want 2 inspire me the way u did 2 live fully, freely, wholly..

that love i felt is within me, it isnt limited to him… but he was the match that ignited a flame so deep

it unlocked aspects I didnt dare look before

i am selfish 4 wanting this because in a way it is what he gave me that I miss…the way I felt with him.. special love hurts most… it is sick at the core even though it feels like it fills every empty space, for a little while..more addictive than drugs..that special love..

If I can only realize that what I felt and experienced with him was always within me and is still within me…I can find other ways to access it.. in ways that don't come with harsh consequences and pain..

the love i felt for him, the desire and motivation to have something to live for, a reason to be healthy and take better care..so i can b the best for him and for me.. how do i cultivate/create/invoke that without him?

without his influence i feel lost.. maybe cuz he reinforced childhood patterns of never being good enough and feeling motivated by the belief that maybe if i do something, improve, change, achieve.. it will gain their love and i will be safe/secure forever ..

maybe i got programmed 2 b addicted to always needing to prove and improve myself for the sake of love, safety and approval..if you didn’t work for it, it isn’t really real, right?
