A few years after pittfest most everyone who worked at the hospital is gone, dennis went back to Nebraska is the best doctor in his county, mel, langdon and mckay all still work in emergency medicine but they've all moved on to different hospitals as attendings, mohan tried the geriatric thing and actually kinda liked it so she moved on too, Dana's finally retired and robby followed after now that he's got a daughter to raise, Abbott still does the street team but the long hours are just too much for him now so he followed a few years later too. Donnie moved into a bigger house after his second kid and found a job closer to home, mateo ended up at a different hospital too when he finally settled down with a wife, yolanda got an offer at a different hospital she couldn't turn down.
now victoria, she's head of emergency psychiatric, and perlah, now the new charge nurse and princess and emma, still nurses, and al hashimi and trinity, the new day and night attendings, are the only ones who stayed.
Everyone's fallen mostly outta touch, sure the pittlings still have their group chat with life updates it's been pretty quiet for a while, and ofc Dana Abbott and robby still talk daily but their old now they have nothing else to do and Victoria will always call mckay when something big happens but its happening far and few between now, and dennis and trinity call at least once a month except for the past 4 because dennis has been busy, they haven't been in the same room together in years.
That is until Victoria is calling everyone at 2 am becuase trinity is in the hospital with slit wrist and it's not looking good and she just wants everyone to know. She expects dennis to show up, maybe mel too, thinks that Abbott, dana, and robby will stop by at least once plus everyone currently working at the hospital obviously will come and see trinity.
She doesnt expect for every single person she called to all suddenly be on their way crossing literal states to be at trinitys side just in case. Now victoria has to figure out where she gonna house everyone for their stays, and everyone now has catch up while also not being able to enjoy it due to circumstances
Becka being the first to scream "by his hand!" in the assembly scene early in the series was really nice foreshadowing for her killing her father in God's name and I think the reason why she believes in divine justice so firmly is she has experienced class divide firsthand because she isn't the daughter of a Commander. Religion is often used as a coping mechanism for people who are struggling as there is this belief God will view everyone equally when society does not, especially as Christianity teaches Jesus as uplifting the poor and otherwise marginalised and scorning the greed of the rich. Becka grew to love assemblies as it showed her everyone receives divine justice no matter how powerful they are, and she decided to employ that upon learning her father was harming young girls because she wholeheartedly believed that was the Gileadian promise—girls would be protected from dangerous men 'by his hand' even though they are powerless because God protects the weak.
