Do you need to see Santos and Garcia start scissoring in an on call room before you start picking up on context clues that aren’t even context since it’s explicitly made clear in the script that they’re hooking up?????

Not people making Garcia into a predator and villain for having casual situationship with Santos. I see you fandom, treating this darker skinned woman like she’s evil. Garcia is Santos’s coworker, not her boss. They’re less than 10 years apart in age. Santos already made it clear that she wants to possibly get into surgery and is extremely ambitious, which could have easily led to more conversations between the two, further sparking attraction. It was obvious in season 1 that these two were into each other, and it’s obvious in season 2 that Garcia is still fond of Santos, even if she’s annoyed with her. Her toothbrush is at her house, they clearly hang out. They’re friends.

Taking Santos’s catastrophising and low self esteem as fact is ridiculous. We know that Santos is struggling right now and does badly with rejection (in any sense, anxiety is a bitch). Garcia is allowed to turn her down for the night. Especially since we have no idea why Garcia is doing it. Maybe she’s exhausted and just wants to have a night in and sleep. Maybe she’s going out with friends and doesn’t feel comfortable bringing Santos. Maybe she’s annoyed and wants alone time, or is trying to work out how she feels and 4th of July seems too much like a real date. Any of those scenarios are acceptable reasons for turning down your fuck buddy.

Clearly Santos wants a relationship, which is obviously her right. But she needs to tell Garcia that and accept whatever the consequences are (even though I want these two to make it). Garcia isn’t a monster for fucking her coworker or possibly not wanting a romantic relationship, and fuck anyone who tries to frame a brown lesbian/queer character as predatory because she’s acting like a normal ass adult.

Adding onto this, her tone in the elevator was borderline sarcastic, like Santos was the one to suggest a casual relationship. Garcia has every right to want to stick to a pre-established boundary.
