listen,,, the dean dying and sam getting to live to old age thing wouldn't have been bad if it'd been handled differently
literally just show that the faceless wife was eileen and have cas show up in heaven (since apparently jack brought him back offscreen???) and you've solved like more than half of the finale's problems

Dean fucking drinking himself into oblivion, rushing two steps at the time up the stairs to get to "Cas", fucking only been 2 years since he last widow-mourned Castiel, "And Cas! You're gonna bring him back!"... and he didn't even question Jack not bringing him back?
"Despair" is the perfect title for that episode because, after that, I am now incapable of feeling anything else
So if Dean didn’t get to say I love you back, what will happen next episode? What if he prays to Cas, even though he knows that Cas can’t hear him anymore(unless he can, because remember that Nick woke up Lucifer in the Empty by praying)? What if Dean confesses his side to the love story that way?

Castiel, Angel of Thursday died on a Thursday specifically Thursday November 5, 2020
Castiel died telling Dean Winchester that he was good and made of Love and that he was the most caring and loving person on earth, so much so that he made an Angel of the Lord rebel against heaven, against hell, against other Angels and Demons, against Death, and against God himself
Cas died saving Dean from Death, because when he confessed his love for Dean he felt enough happiness for the Empty to come and take him back into the nothingness where he would be forever, to save Dean. “Always happy to bleed for the Winchesters” as he once said.
He died for that love, the love that Dean inspired in him, the love Dean projected so much so, that it changed an Angel. He died for the love of his life, something he wanted but couldn’t have. He died for Dean, to save him.
As every Supernatural fan (as in Castiel fan) I am devastated by 15x18. Cas went in one of the most meaningful ways we've seen on the show, but still, I'd prefer him not going at all.
However
I think there is still a tiniest sliver of hope. Misha Collins said Cas' ending was very "final". But is The Empty THAT final? Cas still exists in the Empty. We have seen characters coming out of the Empty. We know Empty has beef with Billie and God (probably); so...what if?
What if Cas gets back?
What if at the very end Empty lets him go for having Billie or for the Winchesters sorting the situation, of what if Jack does something (I know he's powerless now, but we don't know the circumstances, he might get his powers back)? We've seen it happen, we know the Empty can be "reasoned" with - Sam showed us that.
Of course; the prerequisite is the Winchesters surviving the end, otherwise it'd be pointless.
It's most likely not going to happen, this is Supernatural after all, and most of "clues" we have point to this being Cas' ending, but it's not completely crazy to hope that he might get out at the very end.
The producers and writers and cast all know how to "work" the fans, so maybe they just want us to truly believe that THIS is it, while it might not be...
Or maybe I just don't want Cas dead.

Also please note that we cannonically know Dean't can't have "happy ending" with Cas dead. It's been shown over and over than Dean is unable to get over Cas' dying, less alone if he considers it his fault - and he definitely will consider it as such.
So unless the writers plan to kill or otherwise get rid of Dean, they kinda have to bring Cas into the game again.
Just saying.
They're probably kill Dean though.
