Gimblelock and the Three Keys.
Wizard load.
What happened to slime? I feel like goons, henchmen, minions etc. aren't viscous anymore like they used to be.
More doodling, today we have an ✨ elf ✨
I wanted to experiment with a different way of drawing hair, and I think I like this simple silhouette style- though it might look ass on more rendered pieces.
There is something about a sketch with only parts of it drawn with more detail feels... Mature? I don't know how to describe it, but it feels very industry concept artist's work on a Pinterest board, if that makes sense?
It really focuses the eye and allows for the looser areas to maintain more flow, and focusing my attention to key areas feels a lot more accessible as an artist in terms of maintaining momentum and motivation.
My portfolio is actually very small despite being an artist for many years because I am #disabled™️ and that is not congruent with me always trying to force myself to put out finished pieces. This means that pieces with this level of polish usually look bad because they aren't intended to be finished at this point- there is meant to be more that isn't there. Letting myself be looser and draw with the intent to finish at this point has been... I guess freeing, in a way? Everything that is there is intentional because I'm not going into these artworks planning to do more even if I don't have the energy for that. I'm a lot happier with these sketches than I have been with my art in a while.

Just doodling. Wanted to try a more experimental design for giants, as my worldbuilding project's equivalent of dwarves resemble crabs. I don't have any lore to share at the moment; just scribbling because I had an idea and wanted to get it on the page.
I think Wizards (1977) might genuinely be the single worst film I have ever seen.
I wanted to experiment with the designs of my world's sorcerers. It's a bit muddy and quite messy, but that's fine, it's because it's actually a small side-drawing and I plan to redraw it digitally anyway. My pencil sketches are always kinda rough, they're just more accessible for me when I'm not feeling it mentally because of the tactile nature of drawing on paper and the lack of pressure to completely polish and render everything.
The visor design is based on the symbol of the Circle of Magi, the organisation that formally trains sorcerers, called the Star of Magus.
Because many Western helmet eyeholes coincidentally happen to resemble a crucifix and Christianity was historically the predominant religion in the West, I thought it would be interesting to use an alternative eyehole design that resembles the iconography of my setting rather than a standard real world eyehole design that resembles real world religious iconography, even though it isn't actually intentional that world helmet eyeholes resemble crucifixes.
I wanted an Elden Ring glintstone crown-esque design because I really like the air of arrogance to the point of wanting to be perceived as a work of academic art more than a person. Sorcerers in my world are also big on covering their faces, headwear that isn't a full mask like this is enchanted to completely obscure the face in magical darkness, so the big stone glintstone crowns worn by sorcerers of the Raya Lucaria Academy in Elden Ring really inspired me because they are so over the top in a simple, elegant way that I love. Likewise with Athena, I think my sorcerers would aim to resemble a statue of a god of wisdom. It is very in line with the way they perceive themselves.
Having your father's company establish a sweatshop of employees tirelessly searching Wonka chocolate bars to find a golden ticket like Veruca Salt so you can fuck the candy creatures Willy Wonka is hiding in his chocolate factory.
A lesser daemon allowed to enter the material plane under the condition that he is trapped within this small stone vessel, a little larger than a human fist. This genie does not grant wishes- rather, he provides his master with items from his world, or other locations that he is permitted to access. This one specialises in grapes, which he dutifully slices into delicate wedges so they may fit through the mouth of his pot.
Just had an out of body experience while locking in to draw a dramatically posed arm with detailed musculature because I remembered that I'm drawing a grape dispenser.
