This is true of the manga, but I love how the anime accentuates the absolute physical trust the apprentices have with Qifrey. Specifically with Agott, the way she is so ready when Qifrey says “hang on tight, I need my hands free” to cling to him a mile into the sky, and then in the latest episode, how, as soon as she impacts Qifrey while flying to him, she makes no move to save herself, she just curls into him and trusts that he will keep them from falling.
And I think it works as a signal to the audience, to subtly go “hey, I know we don’t trust Qifrey right now, he’s being shady, but we can always trust him to protect the physical wellbeing of his kids. Remember that.” Idk man maybe I’m getting too attached to a teeny detail but aaaaaaghhhh that’s her dad.

#anyways i think it's particularly notable that fiercely independent always-has-something-to-prove Agott is like this with him#and that none of the apprentices really hide how they're feeling around him even when that feeling is negative#Agott and Richeh make it known when they're unhappy with Qifrey#and they (two abused kids) just flat out wouldn't do this if he wasn't a safe person to be unhappy at

ok so I looked it up, and it turns out they made a track out of PVC pipes, down a hill. The owner didn't realise PVC expanded in the heat, so on a turn the track just fell apart and the dude inside went over a fucking free way and into a swamp.
The funniest part is that the inspector was watching the whole time, and once the ball stopped he left without saying anything. Park management just shut it down then and there.
"The ball cleared a small hill, briefly going airborne, then zipped right across Route 94, the two-lane road splitting the park. Cars honked and slammed on their brakes. If there had been opposing traffic, Frank would have become part of a real-life game of Pong, volleying from one bumper to another.
Still in pursuit, we followed the ball toward a small lake in Motor World that had been earmarked for a fleet of tiny bumper boats for children. The area wasn’t open yet, but the empty boats were being tested and floated on the surface. The ball soared over the grass and smashed into several of them, scattering the others with rippling waves from the impact, which launched some of the boats several feet in the air.
Charlie and Ken waded into the water looking for the hatch. After some difficulty, they got it open. Charlie pulled Frank out by grabbing him under his armpits like a baby. Frank crawled up the bank, coughing and sputtering. He splayed across the grass as we all stared at the ball, which bobbed in the water like it was attached to a fishing lure.
We did not ask for the inspector’s report, nor did we ever hear of one being filed. Ken Bailey returned to Canada. The snow-makers cleared away the PVC. Told to dispose of the Bailey Ball, they rolled it into the woods, where it remained for many years."
I don't know that this beats the teeth story, but it's pretty great.
“The old magic persists thanks to it’s unfathomable power.”
No, the old magic persists because the new magic can’t run the legacy spells I need to do my job, and keeps trying to install spirits I don’t want or need onto my orb.
Look, if the new magic didn't have a personality construct that kept trying to tell me which spells to use, maybe I wouldn't still be using the old magic.
Yes it had a deep blood cost, but at least it was a one time sacrifice and not this monthly bloodletting nonsense new age magic has
The old magic is robust enough to survive a decade of use and it's compatible with every wand, staff, scroll, and charm in our collection.
The new magic stops working after three days and every spell uses proprietary runes.
Our preferences, as an archiving institution, should be pretty clear.
You try to get guidance for the new magic and the king's sorcerers maybe will answer you in a few days with an unhelpful suggestion to buy the newest orb.
You need guidance for the old magic and a dozen retired middle-aged wizards will pop up to explain it to you rune by rune if necessary.

The Tracy family are playing Monopoly together. How is it going for each of them?
(HEADCANONS)
Scott - Not the best player but also not the worst. Strategic. Will try and bribe Alan to sell him his properties. Never face-palms more than during an intense game of Monopoly. Is either insanely rich or almost completely bankrupt, no inbetween. Always wins the 'get out of jail free' card and uses the top hat game piece.
John - One of the strongest players of them all. Is extremely strategic with his purchaes and builds a steadily growing stack of cash. All his properties have a minimum of two houses of them. Incredibly smug whenever anyone lands on his properties and have to pay him rent. Owns all the train stations so he earns a solid sum of cash. Ends up in jail more times than anyone else for some reason. Enjoys longer board games in general.
Virgil - He's neither here nor there really. If there's no catastrophic global emergency going on, he's more than happy to sit and play such a lengthy game with his family. Refuses to exchange his four houses for a hotel because he prefers the green to red. Is the banker, always the banker.
Gordon - Stratergy is to buy anything and everything. 50/50 chance it works completely in his favour or he ends up completely bankrupt within the first hour. Will try and pinch money from the bank when nobody's looking only to havr his hand smacked away by either Virgil or Kayo. Will fan himself with his wad of cash if he's rich enough. Uses the duck as his game piece.
Alan - To be honest, he's not that great at it. Tries to be strategic but doesn't always work out. Gets bored of how long the game is and isn't a big fan of playing it. Would rather play his VR headset than sit than play Monopoly whilst listening to his brothers squabble at each other over auctioning and rent prices. Feels like playing it is a long unbearable unskippable ad.
Kayo - Always end up as the owner of 'Mayfair'. Absolutely has a hotel on it and charging 2k every time someone lands on it. Absolutely loaded. Has to explain the rules to Alan every time they play because he forgets every time. Never gets sent to jail. Like ever.
Brains - Doesn't always agree to play but when he does, he's an average player. Quickly realised that being a genius doesn't always work to an advantage in Monopoly. Often decides to form a team with MAX.
Grandma Tracy - Surprisingly good of a player. Always the one to suggest playing. One of her favourites. Often has to calm the table when arguments get out of hand. Pursuades everyone to join in. Threatens to send them all to jail if they don't play nicely.
Lady Penelope - If she's with them, she's more than happy to play. Has been to every play available on the board with Parker. Always owns 'Picadilly' and will have a hotel on it. Her London accent makes playing feel 'more authentic' according to Gordon (he's trying to flirt with her).
Parker - Apparently also makes it feel more authentic. Owns the water works and the electric company. Is stealing from the bank without anyone noticing. Has played the game more times than anyone else in the room. Never goes to prison but always wins the worst 'chance' cards.
i started playing the outer worlds yesterday - brilliant, absolutely loving it - and Parvati is my absolute favourite.
i’ve also just found out that she’s canonically an asexual lesbian (or at least the asexuality is canon) and now i’m crying about it cause im ace too and there’s so few canon ace spec characters in media
(she’s also voiced by ashley bursch who plays my favourite post apocalyptic lesbian aloy 😍)
happy pride parvati! 🥳🎉🎉🎉
I have officially discovered laywright and I think I'm actually losing my mind.
The absurdity of it hit me like a sack of flour and now I can't look away it's actually the funniest shit in the world.
Like Phoenix and Layton are actually polar opposites Layton's entire personality is being competent and Phoenix only gets 10 consecutive seconds of competency to use at the climax of trials so he's completely cringefail.
They're both unofficial detectives. The both have relationship trauma. They both are depressed. They both have collected a gaggle of child sidekicks. They both fling themselves into danger without heed.
But the Professor is so emotionally stunted he's just not cringe about it and Phoenix is so full of love it's like... So who's really in charge here? Layton would pull out all the textbook gentlemanly stuff and then short circuit when Phoenix hugged him. Layton would do a basic offering his arm with a "my dear" and Phoenix would crumble into dust because it's the most romantic thing he's ever seen in his life.
They're both so weird and this premise is so weird and I'm like babygirl I need to study you under a microscope.

Guess what I’ve been watching an unhealthy amount of! Miss Fisher’s girls. I love love love this show
!!!
i’m obsessed with the mum from ponyo. driving single lane on a cliff edge? drift those turns in your nissan cube. husband has to work an extra shift? tell him to fuck off in morse code. pet fish turned into a child on your driveway? adopt her. town drowned in a tsunami? leave your 5 year old in charge, he’s the man of the house now
ideal woman to me and i am not kidding
She gives the impression of someone who would survive an apocalypse without particular fuss. Mad Max road warriors? Barbarian Queen in 3 months, tops. Space Imperialism? Leader of the Rebel Alliance in 6 episodes. Zombie Apocalypse? Her leitmotif is heavy metal. Her superpower is Competence. She could walk into Mordor.
Like you gotta understand The Japanese have a particular cultural Mythos around Fishermen And Their Wives and Miyazaki is an old-school Romantic in the sense that he mythologizes Common Folk in all of his works so when I say that the hyper-competent, Wife-of-a-deep-sea-fisherman, Miyazaki-Mom-figure could “walk into Mordor” what I mean is that she is a mountain of iron wrapped in a thin veneer of silk
From a Doylist perspective she is no less powerful than the Mother Of The Sea.
From a Watsonian perspective, she literally outruns a tidal wave, befriends a Goddess, and saves the world from supernatural devastation.
And her name is Lisa, thankyouverymuch
