in a Q/A with Tui, she stated that blood moons affect a nightwing's powers, allowing seers to see terrible events/disasters clearly and allowing mind readers to project their thoughts onto any dragon (not just other mind readers)

i thought this was a really cool detail, and i'm hoping that it's used in the books somewhere

here are two sisters born under a blood moon, one a mind reader and the other a seer. i imagine the mind reader uses telepathy to comfort her sister as she foresees troubling futures

Love love LOVE the focus on Joel’s boots during his rampage in the hospital. Because it’s not in a fit of rage, or desperation. Joel’s face is blank. He’s not thinking about consequences of his actions. He’s thinking “you took away my daughter and now I’m getting her back.” It’s a skill he picked up from Tess. He knows what’s coming. There’s no need to get emotional about it. It’s the simplest thing in the world to him: “You don’t get to take her away from me. Not again.” Hell, he doesn’t even look at the doctor when he shoots him! He’s looking right at Ellie, his entire focus and purpose laying in front of him! Mans is straight up on autopilot!

Joel is a unstoppable force in his grief. And Ellie is the immovable object that keeps him from walking straight over the ledge.

Sometimes I think about how Ellie starts standing on Joel’s left side more after he confirms he can’t hear very well on the right, but while also sticking *exclusively* to his right when Henry and Sam first show up and they’re not sure what to make of them.

It’s not a complete switch and probably a coincidence rather than a deliberate blocking choice. But I noticed. And it’s totally something Ellie would consciously do. Stay on his good side when things are safe so talking doesn’t take any effort. Stay on his right when there’s trouble to act as a shield and hear what he can’t.

Just. Tiny acts of accommodation and familiarity. Love it. Here for it. Feed me more.

When with Tess, she either stays on his left or is ahead of him, and turns toward him before speaking.

When he approaches someone, he puts them on his left.

When he joins conversations happening to his right, he doesn’t quite jump in with the right timing or says things that don’t exactly line up. It’s *very* minor and again, could be unintentional.

When turning to something behind him, majority of the time he’s turning to the left.

When reloading the revolver in the museum, we the audience can hear the clicker walking closer, but Joel doesn’t realize how close it’s gotten until it clicks again.
