Summary: You never thought that your daily trips to the convenience store, buying their rotten food instead of cooking your own meals (like you actually could) would lead to the beginning of a somewhat toxic yet absolutely delicious relationship.

There was a low humming in her ears, so soft and mellow, like the faint buzzing of a bee. Y/N strode through the concrete valley of trees that arched over the pathway, mindlessly ignorant of all and any conversation.
“I can’t believe you have Professor Kirishima this semester. Ugh, I want him so bad.”
“Me, too! Do you know how godly he looks?!”
“I know he’s hot and all…but I kinda don’t want him.”
“Because I wouldn’t be able to pay attention to anything but him! I don’t want my grades to fall! This is my last year!”
“Well…you know…you could always ask for extra credit.”
“Get your fucking head out the gutter. Not everything is about sex.”
Stuck in her own world, Y/N failed to hear the shouts of her own name coming from behind her, not until a hand clamped down hard on her shoulder. She jumped and twisted around. “Bai! You scared me!”
The girl in question (with cropped black hair and the best style to exist) was hunched over, breathing heavily, her arm still up on Y/N’s shoulder. It slipped off and Bai gave her a look of pure annoyance. “Well, if you didn’t have your headphones in, you would’ve heard me shout your name!”
“Sorry, sorry,” Y/N laughed sheepishly, removing her earphones and tucking them into her pocket. “How’ve you been? How was summer?”
Bai straightened herself, dusting off her skirt. “It was good. I didn’t do much. Just went back to my grandma’s farm.” They set off at a steady, slow pace, brushing past random freshmen they didn’t bat an eye at, smiling and waving occasionally at a fellow student. “You?”
Y/N shrugged. “I came up with my thesis for that stupid essay due in April.”
“Already?! What the fuck is wrong with you?!”
Y/N’s shoulders shook with her laugh. “I just wanna get everything done now so I don’t have to worry later.”
“You are so lame. Have you not been to any parties?”
Y/N gave her one look. “Do you really think I would go to a party?”
And Bai quickly realised what kind of friend she had and sighed, head dropped and shaking. She put a hand on her shoulder. “Don’t worry. We’ll go to a drinking party.”
“I hope you’re inviting me.” Out of nowhere, a guy popped up behind them with short and spiky black hair and hazel eyes that almost looked green. “No way I’m not invited, right?”
Bai scoffed. “Of course, not, dumbass. What kind of party would it be without the resident clown?”
Wiggling his eyebrows, Kanda made an impression of someone fixing their tie. “And I hold that title with pride.”
But before anyone could say anything else, Y/N glanced at her watch and her jaw slacked wide open. “I’m going to be late for class!” And with that, she full-out sprinted to class, skidding around corners and dodging every student that walked past. She managed to fall into her sleep just before the professor walked in and quickly straightened herself up, gathering all her things from her bag and dumping them onto the table in front of her. Aight. Time to work.

The doors slid open as Y/N entered the convenience store. It stood out so brightly against the dark streets, Y/N’s only refuge in a world driving prices up so no one could afford anything. She was quick to make her way to the frozen food section and picked out some microwaveable meals. This will be dinner, she thought as she picked up a frozen pizza, and this will be tomorrow’s lunch. Oh! Would you look at that? Also a pizza.
The line consisted of two people and once she lined up, another person stepped in. It didn’t take too long, the first two only having a few drinks and soon left. Y/N gently placed her pizzas on the counter and got her wallet out.
The worker behind his thick black-rimmed glasses didn’t give her another glance as he started to ring up her pizzas and bag them. “Frozen food? Again?”
“Eh. It feeds the stomach.” She shrugged.
From behind her, she heard a scoff. “I’m surprised people can eat that shit every day.”
Y/N spun around with a massive scowl, seeing a very handsome man dressed finely (only she wouldn’t admit it because he was also a massive dick— would he have a massive— okay! No thank you, brain!) with blond spiky hair and a trolley full of vegetables.
“So what? It’s a quick and easy meal— it’s cheap, too!”
“What? Are you a broke college student?”
“Yeah.” Y/N got all defensive and the worker behind the counter sweatdropped, quietly bagging the items, doing so very very slowly so that not even the crinkling of the plastic bag could be heard. “Why else would I be eating this? Other than the fact it tastes good.”
The blond scoffed once again. “It does not taste good.”
“Jokes on you— it does. Now, if you excuse me, bye.” She took her things, tossing a couple of bills and stormed out, already infuriated by the guy she’d never see for the rest of her life.
