With Halloween just around the corner, I thought I might throw together a Hero Forge edition of a cover for my favourite spooky book! I've tried to keep the monster as close to the description of the novel as possible whilst also adding some contemporary attributes. The perspective is a little off, I know, but otherwise, I'm quite pleased with it!

A couple of years ago I attempted to recreate my vintage Hero Quest orc mini figure on Hero Forge. He was alright, but now that face customisation has become a reality he’s very nearly perfect 🥹

So a few years ago, while running my first homebrew lego/d&d campaign, I’d left my players an ominous message telling them to travel west to meet with a wizard named Treebody. Around the same time I found this image of a Planet of the Apes/ Lord of the Rings crossover cosplay. I decided that chimp Gandalf was the perfect candidate for my mysterious wizard. Now that facial customisation is out, I wasted no time in recreating the grey wizard Treebody and his apprentice Rot Pota

I know I’ve spoken of him before, but I was inspired by face customiser to go back and rebuild him. So without further ado, allow me to reintroduce Ikxy, [Christy’s] mesoamerican inspired Druidic octopus who used ocean debris as makeshift armour!

Major improvements to two old characters very dear to my heart thanks to facial customisation. Gone are the days of having one good undead face and one good orc face 😆 Allow me to present the dread sorcerer Razaak along with his henchman and very best friend Rufus

Okay, so I've shared this story before but now that we can have two heroes sharing a base, I've finally been able to immortalise this special moment. This is the scene in our campaign where my character Gandleforth (left) and friend Slither (right) come face to face with an ancient gold dragon. Certain they are going to die, Gandleforth finally reveals his biggest secret, that he's gay. Slither then places a brotherly hand on his shoulder and says "I know" and assures him it's alright, and that they can talk more about it if they survive.

The many faces of Gandleforth

So, last session Gandleforth unloaded a secret he had been harbouring for the longest time when faced with what appeared to be certain doom. It turned out to be (for me at least) quite a tender moment, so I decided to use Hero Forge® to depict it.

A little backstory: Gandleforth was born into a family that never understood him, who came from a culture where being gay was frowned upon. Since his youth, he's kept his sexuality a secret and it's only been harder for him since being turned into a frog. Slither is a fighter of draconic ancestry who found Gandleforth not long after he was cursed and has aided in his recovery and become one of his closest friends.
