the fact that people refuse to read shadowhunters because of the whole “you’re my sister” thing annoys me so much. people make such a big deal out of it and act as if that was the main plot of the series when really it was suchhhh a small part of it. i honestly didn’t care about it at all when i read it because the series is about so much more than that. it’s an amazing amazing series, seriously one of the best ever written and i hate the fact that people don’t read it just because everyone on tiktok exaggerates the whole “incest” thing (even tho it wasn’t incest) and blows it out of proportion. and this isn’t about me having a particular opinion and thinking that everyone else is wrong, my point is that people just believe whatever they hear and don’t even try and think or find out for themselves. and because of that they’re missing out and it’s their loss.

im actually kinda tired of just reading books where the mmc is so down bad for the fmc and does everything for her and grovels and does all the grand gestures while the fmc just kinda…does nothing? like it always seems like the mmc is so in love with her whereas she just says she is but never actually does anything to show it and never actually does anything for him. i feel like 99% of the books out there are like this and i dont want that.

It doesn't really matter that they didn't know him. Carmen started dating him knowing he had a kid and was trying to have a relationship with him so she should have known Robby would take up part of his life and be part of the deal or she should not have started dating him. By the time Johnny and Carmen got together, Miguel knew Robby was Johnny's son and and everything too. It's ridiculous for them to think Robby wasn't gonna matter or be part of their family.

They knew Johnny was trying to be in Robby's life at some point in like season 2 though because he told them he was. As I already said. So they should have known he would be part of the deal in some capacity.

But unless there's some very severe circumstances, you don't get into a relationship with someone with kids and expect the kids to not matter or not be apart of it. Even if they don't have a great relationship or whatever, because that's still their kid and the relationship could change at any time.

Also just don't get in a relationship with someone with kids if you don't want their kids. Period.

And a stepkid shouldn't expect to be loved more than the bio kid for the same reasons, but the stepkid is more understandable because they are kids and emotions and hormones cloud their judgement.

So I get it to an extent, but yeah it's still ridiculous the way this whole thing was written.

bro i think the main point of that scene was just to delve into miguel's insecurities and create a plot for him to find his actual dad. the writers wrote it in a really shitty way and i just think everybody's opinions are clashing???

johnny got a genuine 'i love you' out of miguel, but he ruined that by calling him robby. the moment wasn't about him expressing his love for robby, but proving whatever robby had said to miguel during the prom fight. miguel looks up to johnny as a father figure, and that's what the scene was about. he wasn't mad that johnny loves his biological son, he was devastated because he thought he didnt love him. this scene was about MIGUEL. it wasn't about johnny and robby's relationship, it was about miguel and johnny's relationship and how it was supposed to mean more than a student-sensei one.

it's a really shitty scene, but i think the writers did it to set up a plot for the next season. they supposedly fixed everything in season 6 when they flied back due to carmen's emergency.

when it comes to carmen and robby, personally, i wouldn't forgive the kid who paralysed my son and put him into a coma, even if he was my boyfriend's kid. it's just really unrealistic. they have shown scenes where they're all a happy family, and i think that's okay, because that would be the best you could get out of it.

once again, when miguel and johnny are in a scene, it isn't always linked to robby. the relationship robby and johnny have will always be different than the one johnny and miguel have. like it or not, miguel quite literally reformed johnny. miguel was the reason johnny wanted to fix things with robby (even though he half-assed it). not everything is miguel's fault.

miguel was literally bullied, poor, didn’t have a dad, almost died and was paralyzed for months, got reinjured in a tournament later, found his real dad and realized he was a horrible person, was broken up with by the girl he’s in love with. like what else do you want? my man has had a hard ass life and thats a fact.

Yeah I felt for Miguel too because I've been there but Robby still has had a shitty life too and Johnny may say shit like that when he's drunk but he still puts literally EVERYONE over Robby.

Also part of me is like yeah it hurts that this dude who became a father figure said the wrong person's name, but dude THAT IS HIS ACTUAL BIOLOGICAL SON. How is Miguel upset that he loves his bio son too??? Especially after he told Miguel how shitty he feels for never being there for Robby(not that he really ever fixes this, but still).

This whole thing with Miguel and Johnny and Robby is so fucked up on all fronts and so poorly written and I just feel bad for both of the boys.

okay realistically of course miguel is gonna be upset in this moment? its not like johnny said “i love you too miguel and robby” he just said robby. obviously to miguel that looks like johnny doesn’t love him? hes just a kid who has never had a father figure before how can you expect him to not be upset?

plus at that point miguel had bonded with johnny way way way more than robby had, so of course miguel would expect johnny to love him more than robby, even if robby’s his biological son. johnny and robby at that point had barely even known eachother basically, despite johnny trying again and again to be a part of robby’s life now, and while of course that doesn’t make up for the 16 years he missed, he was trying NOW. what did robby expect him to do, get in a fucking time machine?

please the johnny miguel robby parallels are so controversial and i love talking about them. this is hard facts. i agree robby has been through a lot, but people have started downplaying what miguel has gone through.

and let's not even talk about the sekai taikai. i’m not saying robby didn’t deserve to be captain—he totally did—but miguel deserved it just as much, and the fight was fair. robby won, and that’s fine, but can we just talk about how being captain could’ve ALSO changed miguel’s life??

he’s waitlisted at stanford, his mom has an unborn baby on the way, and comes from a financially unstable family. those sponsorships would’ve been a game-changer for him. after everything he’s been through, he deserved that much.

BUT i’m also super happy for robby because he’s been proving himself, and the captaincy will change his life too. i'm sooo here for his redemption arc and i can't wait to see him kick axel's ass in part 3. he definitely needed a win, and i get that. what annoys me, though, is people acting like miguel didn’t deserve it. like, they’re both amazing, and they both had valid reasons for needing it. it’s not fair to tear one down to lift the other up.

this goes the other way around too, robby did win the fight fair and square idk why people are getting mad over him being captain. miguel was not okay with it and definitely said some things when robby was at his lowest, and that WAS not a good moment for him, but he did kind of make up for that by being there for him in the end.

i might be a little biased bcs miguel is my FAVOURITE, but nobody can disagree with this.

yes for sure robby did deserve a win by being captain! but i dont understand how people can say that miguel didn’t deserve it after EVERYTHING he’s been through. plus it’s not like robby’s life is over if he isn’t captain, he still has other options, JUST LIKE MIGUEL. they both deserve it.

imo miguel should’ve been captain just because he’s the main character (i mean ralph literally called him this generation’s daniel larusso) and he’s been taking hit after hit for the past few seasons😭 and im not gonna lie, the whole narrative that robby is their leader feels kind of random to me? like it definitely makes more sense for miguel to be their leader, especially with how he carried the whole team in the sekai taikai, and literally the fact that robby only stepped up when MIGUEL talked him into it, literally proving that miguel is the leader. and then the same with the fight in the cobra kai dojo in season 5 when miguel yells “protect the egg!” and everyone listens to him. again imo miguel started this whole thing and it just makes so much more sense for him to be the leader.

BUT, either way, both of them have been through so much and deserve the win, and the only thing that annoys me at this point is exactly what you said, them tearing miguel down just to uplift robby. acting as if miguel has had a perfect life and therefore somehow doesn’t deserve to win? like first of all that’s not true at all, and second of all that’s literally not how it works😭
