Debate Assignment #1
A violent cough shook his entire body for a few seconds as Komaeda grimaced, closing his eyes and waiting for the wheezing in his lungs to calm down. Ho hum. His illness was hardly an excuse not to be done with his work, so here it goes.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve always been impressed by the power of Hope. The shining light of it, the way it chases off Despair, and how it can bloom in even the most dire of circumstances—it’s really beyond words! There exists certain individuals who are teeming with Hope and they can use their gift to inspire others and to bring miracles into existence that no one else could even dream of accomplishing.
Without Hope in the world, I don’t imagine mankind would have lasted very long. The first war, the first fire, the first migration to ever be embarked upon…If it wasn’t for the fact that it was hoped for things to get better, for a solution to be found, then nothing would ever grow and change! Those bearing Hope can, with the proper endurance and belief in themselves, do just about anything. It’s a mandatory gift to be in possession of, because if one doesn’t have Hope, then they most likely have Despair.
Despair has never accomplished anything but pain and sadness, though it is just the other side of the coin. When these two forces collide, I’d like to believe that Hope will always eventually prove to be the victor! When confronted with that sort of unpleasantness, Hope tends to thrive within the hearts of those who truly can understand and spread it. It has an effect like soothing water, to put out the flames caused by Despair.
For that reason....I want nothing more out of life than to foster the growth of Hope, for the good of everyone.
He jotted down "Informative Speech" and decided that was the best he could do for the present.
