Explore your backyard.

When you think of travelling, you often think of all the expenses that come with it. Not only do you have to pay for the plane, you also have to think about accommodations, food and activities (unless it’s an all inclusive trip). These factors often deter people from experiencing what the world has to offer. What many people don’t think of, is exploring their own backyard.

There are many sights to see from your home town regardless of where you are located. It isn’t something that occurred to me until recently. Do you live outside of the ‘big city’? Go ahead an stay in a cheap hostel and see the sights. If budget is an issue, you can save yourself some money and go camping! Right now is the perfect time for those experiences in the wilderness. Provincial Parks and State Parks do not normally charge a lot per night. All you need to do is to bring some food from your cupboards, a tent and you’re set. Generally, you don’t have to stay in camping grounds, you can always hike and camp somewhere else for free. Another option for activities if you are on a budget is to hike or see the local sights and landmarks.

To break the time up between your trips, you don’t have to hermit yourself at home because you have to save every dime to get to travel. Take some time to see the sights around you! I guarantee you will find things you never thought you would find and it doesn’t always have to break the bank either. It’s all about being frugal while still being able to enjoy yourself.

The Beginning

Over the years, I have always wanted to travel. I used to go into travel booking stores to pick up tour books to flip through and 'plan' my future trip. These trips I would end up planning, never happened. I've been living life day by day or "flying by the seat of my pants" as some would say. Recently, I noticed that I should be living my dream. Why should I sit back and spend all of my days working jobs that truly - to put it bluntly - suck?  I've been stuck in a crevice of work, bills and more bills. This is something that has deterred me from travelling. I would think, "How am I going to afford a trip like that when I barely have enough to live". Well, I've learned that there are always ways to change that at least by a little bit. So, I've booked my first trip to Europe catching the first deal that came available. I'm leaving my terrible job behind to see one of the my dream destinations.  I'm writing to share my experience from the beginning; to show people that it is possible to live your dreams of traveling and it isn't too late to start.  Here is my experience.
