not sure if this is Of Interest in any way, but something that i noticed recently was how much the hand creature from the ch.3 intro reminds me of a freshwater hydra. these little guys generally live in streams and lakes (another darkness-water tie), can regenerate completely after injury, and reproduce by growing another individual off of their own body until it separates, making it look like they have several heads (hence their name).

all this is making me wonder if it'll have anything to do with the hypothetical "severed hand" stuff that's been foreshadowed in the last couple chapters...
