Language help for Hetalia fanfiction (or other needs)
Because Google Translate gives us headache….
Hey everybody!
We have been talking lately about using multiple languages in fanfiction, and it turned out I am not alone with my frustration of seeing my native language google translated… When the author could just have asked me for help!
But how to find help?
Here is the answer :)
Are you looking for help? Want to have correct language in your fanfiction and just a bit more authenticity by using the characters’ mother language? Check the notes to see who is native with the language and eager to help, and contact them :)
Can you help? Reblog this post and add the language(s) you are able to help with. Only the languages you are either native or fluent with. Add your message as text, not into tags! The tags will not show in the notes or reblog chain, but the added text will. In that way everybody can see the replies easier in notes or chain :) Remember to mention if you wish not to translate specific topics or words!
Can’t help or doesn’t need help right now? Reblog this to spread the word! You can also tag people you think would like to get help or be the one helping :)
Native Finn here, just DM me! ^_^
I was thinking about how I am gonna drive to Finland, and the easiest way is to drive to Umeå and take ferry over to Vasa and continue from there to Kajana. That would take about 8 hours, with few hours break while I am in the ferry.
The coolest way, however, is to drive all way via Haparanda. That is 13 hours.
I am seriously thinking about using the ferry on way there, and then drive back longer way. I could just take it easy and stop few times along the way, book a night in inn somewhere… I am not certain but I might have some old classmates etc. living around the route I would take so I could meet people too. So far the longest time I have drove car in one sitting is 5 hours, so I think I could manage 13 hours with some breaks.
You could take puukko with you to Sweden since the ferry can't stop you :D
Truth: Tell about the most awkward date you've ever been on
“Truth”, Sweden grunted when the bottle stopped to point at him.
“What is the most awkward date you have ever had?” Iceland asked, and Denmark gave him a thumb up for a good question. Sweden had to think a bit, there hadn’t been many awkward dates, but finally he answered.
“Once we had a dinner date”, he said, “but one of Fin’s ministers came to same restaurant and sat next to us.”
“She was one of those that know about us, but not about us”, Finland explained, “and she doesn’t like gays, but I didn’t want to cause problems with all the things going on.”
“Had to pretend we had a business dinner”, Sweden said.
“That sounds rather strange”, Norway noted, “usually we have business lunch, and never only between two.”
“I told her it is a Swedish habit”, Finland said with a shrug, “she believed that right away.” Norway and Iceland seemed to have sympathy, but the Dane was chuckling.
Am I the only one who would like to read a one shot about this🤔
One shot will come only if somebody guess which ex-minister I was thinking about when I wrote this :D
Sounds a bit like Päivi Räsänen
This was disappointing easy guessing game :(
Still waiting for the one shot because I never forget anything🌚
❄️💉“Save me if I become, my demons.”💉❄️I adore this uniform tbh, the colors just pop so nicely. 😩😩😩😩 Plus I love for angst and this shiz is full of it lol
Nor and truth (but it's kinda like a dare, oh well!): tell the story of how he found out about "the thing" his curl does... (now that I think of it, this truth/dare could fit Dan too... *insert lenny face*)
Sorry, I tried but it didn’t work out. I don’t really like the whole hair thing, fandom has overused it, and it is kinda freaking weird anyway. So I tried to adjust the ask a little, but it just didn’t work out. Was better to kill it off :/
What the heck is lenny face anyway…

Here it is! The Nordic gods set.I been writing out the plot of the au as well as making a list of which country will be which god type. Thank you for the long wait. These will be sketches for now as I plan to make a full nicely colored portrait of them each. Yes, Norway’s designs have changed because I wanted him to match the new theme of the au.
Here are the current list
Norway - God of Knowledge and Wisdom
Iceland - God of Islands and Volcanoes
Denmark - God of Thunder and Lightening
Sweden - God of shadows
Finland - God of Light

Hetalia is NOT Dead
I’m going to be outright with it: Unironically calling Hetalia a dying fandom is a slap in the face to those content creators still in it.
To call something dead just because you’re leaving/have already left the fandom is disrespectful on so many levels. There are still people creating content, and to have you dismiss their hobbies and interests as something doomed to fail discourages active members from contributing further to the community.
There are people struggling and working every day to get recognized, and yet you have the audacity to say that it’s dead? What gives you the right to wave off those invisible artists and writers? What gives you the right to take away the hope from those who want to get recognized? What gives you the right to declare a fandom dead when there’s people who still have a genuine and active interest in it?
Only those who have left the fandom have a dead interest in Hetalia; don’t project this onto the rest of us.
The Popularity Argument:
I’ve seen this justification enough times that it really makes me question if people know what a fandom is. Sure, Hetalia isn’t as popular as it was years ago…SO WHAT?
A fandom is a community. A community involves personalized interactions. If you’re so pent-up on numbers, then it’s time to re-evaluate why you’re here. You shouldn’t (note the word shouldn’t, as not everyone’s the same) base your gratification from a fandom based only on numbers. The community may be smaller now; we’re tight-knit.
But that’s just it, isn’t it? We don’t have to be big to form our own little niche. If anything, it makes the experience more satisfying to know those who you interact with. I understand where others are coming from when they say that the responses aren’t the same as they used to be. However, if you’re using that same argument, activity and numbers have been on the rise lately.
Nonetheless, a fandom doesn’t have to be super popular for you to be able to enjoy it. The Hetalia fandom is just big enough where it’s still thriving with new content every single day. That hardly seems like it’s dead to me.
Yes, numbers matter, as they derive from interaction. But, if you’re really here for the fandom experience, huge numbers shouldn’t be a first priority. We’re here to fulfill and sustain meaningful relationships, not some self-validating line graph.
Why Hetalia Declined in Activity:
I say activity, because a lot of what goes on in this fandom is smoke and mirrors. There are still a TON of people in this fandom. The only problem is that most of said people only follow accounts and can’t be bothered to like or reblog. In no way are you obligated to like or reblog content either, don’t get me wrong. Still, it’s this unwillingness to share content that’s made the fandom smaller.
In other words, people are interested in the content, but when it comes to sharing it, that interest dissipates. Everyone here has the power to make this bigger again (not that it needs to be). Regardless, it’s your call whether you want to invest that extra minute in supporting your favourite creators.
Another problem I’ve noticed is that those who do reblog don’t use their tags. This is probably the biggest explanation as to why we’re so invisible on tumblr’s fandometer. If even half of us wrote the simple tag of “hetalia”, we’d be up there for sure.
Again, it’s your call.
“You’re still into Hetalia…?”
I get it, I really do. Based on circus performances from mostly older members, this fandom has a horrible reputation. What I don’t understand is how that horrible reputation somehow translates into it being embarrassing to like the series. The actions of others should not be reflective of the entire fandom.
Which brings me to my next point. Yes, Hetalia is based on stereotypes. It’s inevitably biased, and I admit, some of the earlier content could have been executed with a lot more research and sensitivity on Hima’s part. Point is, that was over a decade ago, and his new content has proven that he’s learned from these mistakes.
It would be impossible for Hima to create a series using this medium without necessitating the need for stereotypes. What a lot of people don’t seem to quite get is that stereotypes are conceptual tools; that is, they’re flexible.
What’s wonderful about this fandom is that Hima’s general use of stereotypes allows fans to step in and add their own personal touches and corrections to the characters.
Also, I cannot stress this enough, but this series promotes peace, not war. It’s easy to look at the series’ summary and automatically think: “They’re glorifying Germany during WW2!”
NO! Not once have they ever promoted fascism. There’s zero insignia shown, nor is any of the horrors that happened covered. What the strips do show is the nations fighting each other, as is what happens in war. More importantly is that the nations have been shown on countless occasions to abandon wartime rivalries and act as friends above all else.
I mean, the series’ theme is literally “Draw a circle, that’s the Earth.”
You can’t honestly tell me that this isn’t pushing for worldwide consolidation as opposed to division.
Why Hetalia has Remained:
Hetalia has remained as one of the most versatile fandoms out there. You have both human and nation AUs that can be recreated and re-formulated over and over again. On top of that, you have 11+ years of canon character information to work with. The fandom is full of depth, flexibility, and future potentialities for people to explore new ideas with the characters.
You don’t typically see this with other fandoms. Usually there’s one big boom. Then people realize that they don’t have all that much to work with and move on. People haven’t completely moved on from Hetalia because it’s still rich enough to keep producing new content from it.
Likewise, not many other fandoms provide the motivation to engage in learning about the world and its history. Hetalia made me want to learn more about what I was reading.
And before anyone says “Hetalia is simple, there’s nothing to it”, I implore you to reconsider. If you really pay attention to the inner workings of Hima’s craft, you’ll find countless inter-texts, foreshadowing, easter eggs, and dark themes running all throughout it.
To Those Leaving the Fandom:
Thank you for all the content you’ve created for us, truly. I wish you all the best. But, if you do leave, all I ask is that you respect those who are still in it.
Just because you’re leaving, doesn’t mean that the fandom has died. It just means that you’ve lost interest. Please don’t attribute this loss of interest to a fandom that’s “dead.” If anything, it’s because of lower numbers and activity.
To dismiss us as dead means that you’re overlooking those who are still here. Not only that, but if you had a large enough following, you’re ruining the aspirations of those who idolized you.
Leave behind your legacy with class. Set a good example. Allow those to eventually climb up to the peak you reached in the fandom rather than tearing it down and frightening others into leaving with you too.
…
With all that said, I want those reading this to remember one thing. We’re still a community. We’re in Hetalia because we share a common interest.
It’s about sharing what you love, not loving something because it’s shared.
Denmark, how far would you go to protect Norway?
(It is a little nsfw)
Usually Denmark was the first to wake up, but it wasn’t strange that the Norwegian nation awake before the Dane. It only happened rarely, but that morning was one of those rare times. Instead of stirring awake from the Dane kissing his forehead for good morning and leaving to make the breakfast, Norway felt the warm body under him and found himself laying over the sleeping man. He didn’t know how much the time was, but it had to be an early morning because there was just a hint of light coming outside and Denmark was still sleeping.
Norway had had good dreams, though they had left him only with slight feeling of calm and comfort. He still wasn’t sad about that because the reality was just as peaceful. Waking up before the Dane also gave him a perfect chance to show some affection, and he happened to be in mood for that so he moved a bit to get most of his weight off the Dane and started to trace the shape of man’s body with his fingers along the skin, placing small kisses here and there until Denmark stirred from his slumber.
“Hey, love”, he said with a slightly hoarse voice after sleep, “we are having lovely morning?” Norway stopped for a while, looking at the Dane and pressing his cheek against the man’s chest. He was feeling rather comfortable at the moment, and smiled when Denmark replied with wrapping his arms again around him.
“If you are not in hurry anywhere”, the Norwegian replied, and got a smirk with a quick head shake as an answer.
“Even if I had, I would cancel that now”, the Dane muttered, starting to caress the Norwegian’s body. His only problem was to keep his voice down when the Norwegian found the specially good spot to kiss and nib.
“You can be loud”, he whispered on top of the Dane.
“But Is…”
“I made a spell”, the Norwegian said, “nobody will hear us.”
“Wonderful”, the Dane said and smiled before the man made him gasp and managed to get a louder moan out of him. They continued for a while until the phone on the table started to buzz and didn’t stop until it got annoying.
“Hell”, Norway said and picked up the phone to take the annoying call, “what?”
“Whoever it is, they deserve to be punched hard straight on the face”, Denmark muttered, feeling frustrated for the pleasant moment being disturbed. It wasn’t everyday that Norway was so eager for kisses and touching.
“I do not care”, Norway said harshly to the phone, “Sverige, I am trying to make love with Dan right now, so you better to figure out your problems by yourself or wait until we are done. Bye.”
“Oh, it was Sve”, Denmark said, “he deserves to be punched on the face all the time.”
“He is jerk sometimes”, Norway muttered, “we got a question too.”
“What? Show me!” Denmark said, but the Norwegian only glanced at him and quickly put the phone away.
“It was nothing important”, he claimed, “let’s just…”
“No wait”, Denmark said, knowing the look Norway was giving him, “it is something important you don’t want me to see. Nor…”
“Dan, please.”
“I just wanna see”, the Dane said, “it is for me, right?”
“Can’t I just distract you with us having sex?” the Norwegian asked back, “I thought you were up for that?”
“I am, but…”, the Dane said and bit his lip when Norway started to caress his chest again, “but… I want to see what it was to make you… so… uh… Nor…”
“Fine”, the Norwegian sighed when even a kiss didn’t stop the Dane from trying to reach the phone. He moved away, picking up the phone and almost throwing it at Denmark, who smiled and mouthed quick thank you before focusing on the message. Norway settled down on him, though he also thought about just leaving the Dane alone.
“This is an easy question”, Denmark said, “I would…”
“Don’t say it”, Norway ordered, but the Dane only smiled at him and reached to caress his hair.
“I would give up everything. I would destroy my own land. I would kill everybody who dares even think about hurting you. I would do all I can just to make sure you are happy”, Denmark said with a smile, “I would…”
“Do not say it!”
“I would die”, he said without hesitation, “if it meant you would survive.” Norway didn’t smile back. He got up on his knees, staying over the Dane and giving him the angriest look the man had ever seen.
“Don’t you dare to do that”, he said through this teeth, and moved so his lips were almost touching the Dane’s, “you will not leave me alone here.” Denmark raised his hand on the man’s back. Usually that would have calmed the Norwegian, but he was too angry then.
“I would still do that”, he said.
“That is selfish”, Norway told him, “you think I could just continue my happy life knowing that you gave up yours for me? That I would be all okay to live alone rest of my eternity? Think again, Dane.”
“But if it was the only way…”“It will not be”, Norway said, pushing his fingers against the Dane’s skin so hard it left small marks, “you will not die for me. Do you understand? If I am dying, I will die without you trying to be heroic.” Denmark still smiled, a hint of sadness mixed on it when he thought the possibility of losing the Norwegian.
“I am not giving any promises”, he said, “I love you.” Norway stared at him, clearly thinking about all the possible insults and things to yell at the man.
“Idiot”, he ended up saying, and then kissed the man hard.
“So we are gonna have angry love making now instead of sweet one?”
“Shut up and focus.”
“Yes, sir.”
Reblog if you have
an unhealthy obsession with the aph nordics
I hope that one day, all Hetalians will begin to realize that:
France isn’t a rapist, if he was, why would he have said, “Love isn’t something that should be forced upon others.”? Russia isn’t a psychopath, he is actually unaware of how cruel he can be. Romano cares a lot about his family, he just doesn’t feel the need to show it by being lovey-dovey all he time. Prussia likes Italy, it has even been said that he asked Veneziano out on a date, but Veneziano was oblivious to the confession (?). Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia aren’t weak. Being afraid of someone does not make you weak. You’d probably be scared too if you had to deal with Russia. Hetalia isn’t about yaoi.
Shipping wars are unnecessary, there’s no reason to fight over what ship is better. I’ve seen Hetalians tell others to kill theirselves because they simply just didn’t like a ship. Norway and Iceland care very much for eachother, they may have their disagreements here and there, but they still care about each other. Germany IS NOT the Holy Roman Empire. My evidence? Remember how it was stated that Germany was born into an EXISTING body? That existing body was HRE’s. While Germany has HRE’s body, he does not have the soul of HRE so therefore, is not HRE. I do try to respect other’s theories and opinions, people are practically trying to shove the “HRE is Germany” theory down my throat and I do not appreciate such actions. Belarus wasn’t originally designed to be Yandere; she was supposed to be more soft-spoken and kind, like her 2P. Or kind of like Liechtenstein. It’s been said that Hima doesn’t even know how she ended up as the Yandere character she is now. Spain is not a pedophile. Finland is not a coward, nor a useless baby. He’s quite strong. Despite his hard past, he managed to stay cheerful and optimistic. He’s not weak for disliking conflict, he’s suffered a hard past full of conflict. It makes sense that he would dislike conflict. Sweden is shy and isn’t that great when it comes to social activities, which his shyness is often mistaken as him being antisocial and emotionless. I relate strongly to Sweden since my parents often mistake my shyness and awkwardness as me being antisocial. Canada is not a suicidal pushover. And a lot more than what I’ve mentioned in this post.
I went to city today to do some shopping and stuff, and I found this great postcard book which I had to get because I like to frame postcard and put them on the wall (tho I am still waiting to get my own place to have them all up. I have lots of art postcards all around Europe waiting for that). Here are few of my favourites:
The front looks really good. Definitely going to my wall (there is postcard of this pic later in the book without all this small text)
…That is Finnish thing, but damn cute anyway.
Sweden trying to steal cheese slicer from Norway. Come on, Swedes, don’t tear this family apart.
And my absolute favorite… From all the historical events, this one was the only one illustrated… All the cool things Sweden has done, all the wars fought, all the glory and great times, they decided to have this one time when they did this wonderful ship that was supposed to be the best ever, and it sank after first 1300 m of its’ first journey. This amount of self-irony amuses me. This is so going on the wall.
(here is more of the ship in case you didn’t know the story: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vasa_(ship) I really recommend to visit it in the museum. It is really good exhibition)
The name of artist is Henrietta Nyvang. She has other great illustrations too.
I read "leave Sweden" accidentally instead of "love Sweden" I mean what a loving card
Me, every time I go to Finland again: “Okay. let’s see what kind of fucking weird shit my fellow Finns have come up with lately.”
I haven’t been disappointed even once. Like, one time I was away for few months and meanwhile the whole country got obsessed with free buckets (I have never got chance to queue for bucket :’( . One time they had got ferry wheel in Helsinki and put sauna in it, and then there is the eternal confusion of is that real, evolved Finnish or just a new catch phrase from Putous???
Dennor first kiss?
:/Where is my hi and thank you? Is this request for fic or headcanon, or what? We already spoke about this once, I am not a writing machine.
Rules for requesting, questions and commenting
Requests
* You may request whatever you want, but your request might not be fulfilled if it doesn’t fit my style. Try your luck.* In case of the request being refused, I will explain why I did so.
* When you request, you must be polite. This include adding at least “hi” and “thank you” on your message. Request messages stating only the topic of request will be deleted without explanation. * It is recommended to also add some background info e.g. why you would like to read the fic you request or where you got the idea. This is voluntary, but ensures that you get what you are wishing for, and possibly makes the process faster.* Requesting in anon is not recommend. Anon requests will be fulfilled only if I happen to like the idea a lot. You may try.* This rule has been established in order to make sure the requester replies for the fic. Unfortunately, anons rarely send in feedback and there is no way to know who was the original requester. * You are required to reply for the fic you have requested. You don’t need to show your undying love, but you will have to let me know if it was what you wanted and what you thought about it. You don’t need to like it, just say what you think* In case the requester does not reply for the ready fic, their further requests will be ignored and deleted without explanation.* The request fics will always be oneshots, posted in Tumblr. * In case I get a longer plot idea, the fic will be taken to FF.net and the requester credited for the idea.* There are no set deadlines for fic requests to be fulfilled. It might take from few hours to weeks depending on what I am doing with the rest of my life at the moment and if I am getting any good ideas.
Questions and comments* You may comment and ask whatever you want. The freedom of speech applies here.* If the question / comment is rude, or deemed illegal by laws of Finland or Sweden (e.g. act of “Volksverhetzung”, incitement to hatred) it will be deleted and ignored without explanation. * Questions and comments in anon are ok* In case you want more info about something, remember to mention if you mean the Hetalia characters or the real Nordic countries.
* You can write in English, Finnish, or any Scandinavian language. With other languages, I will brutally use google translate and nobody knows what that does.
These rules are established because I just don’t want to feel like a writing machine. I am doing this for free, and I will never ask for money.
