Ok so I think it’s kinda been established that:

-Hannibal likes to pull Will’s hair.

-Will gets off on the idea of restraining Hannibal.

-Hannibal gets off on the idea of scarring Will, therefore marking him as his   (”It excites him to know that you are…marked in this particular way”)

-Both Hannibal and Will get off on seeing the other drenched in blood. 

In short, if they nipped the whole trying-to-murder-each-other thing in the bud, they could have a vaguely stable D/S relationship.
