Teach Those That Come After You
When Empires begin to fall the covert inhumanity within the systems of power become very overt. To all my righteous folks working within these systems I say be diligent in your righteousness and start suring up your plan B, C and D.
Also to my Gen-X folks who are old enough to remember how life was before technology and expendable living. Teach these younger generations the benefits of being in community. Teach them the importance of family gatherings: holidays dinners, summertime bbq's, the wedding receptions in the backyard and basement, the repass after the repass at your auntie and them house. Teach them about Block Associations and Local Civic organizations that our parents participated in to make sure our communities were as safe as they could make them. Teach them about knowing the people who lived next door and across the street and up the block. Help them be prepared for a society that does its best to create privileges that they may not be privy to.
Teach them about collective economics. We have to get back to owning, not just as individuals but as a collective. Our stores won't prevent us from buying and selling. Our schools won't mistreat our children with poor education. Our clinics won't turn us away when we are sick. Our spaces can be used to keep Our folks safe.
And to the churches run by GenX sisters and brothers. Now is the time to be the Church that Jesus taught us to be. The Church that our forefathers and foremothers created. A Church that stands on the business of Righteous, Justice, Liberty and Love.
What good is knowing how to survive if we don't help those who will be here when we are no more? Our children are in need of our wisdom, knowledge and understanding. It is our duty to make sure we have done ALL that we can to share it with them in ways that it sticks.
