Gods above, the whiplashing of Noire’s moods could leave even the strongest of their friends gasping for breath. Speaking of gasping for breath, Nah was quite literally doing so as the smaller girl tried to peel the blubbering archer off of her.
“Okay, Noire? You need to cut it out, I can’t–grk!” Oh for goodness sake, Noire had looped an arm nearly around her neck, making air even more of a precious commodity. Nah wriggled a bit more before giving up, rolling her eyes even as she patted the other girl’s back awkwardly.
“Yeah, I’m here, and it was never that serious, all right? What’s got you so riled up? Besides the obvious,” Nah added in a low mutter as she was finally released. Brushing herself off and straightening her clothes with great indignation, the manakete looked around, taking in the heavy scents of dust and disuse.
“It looks as if this place has seen better days. Still, we could have wound up somewhere a lot worse…” Curiosity prickled at the edges of her mind as she wondered what sort of world awaited beyond those sunset-lit windows. The entire place was bathed in blood red light. Her ears shifting with interest, Nah looked over at Noire, doing her best to appear composed.
What Noire needed was for somebody to be strong and calm. Right. She could do this. Nah pulled in a breath to relax her (secretly shuddering) nerves, arching an eyebrow. “So…are you going to be all right? Or do you need a minute?”
Gods, she hoped this place didn’t have any ghosts!
After a long while, Noire finally released her death grip on the petite girl. She was still sniffling but her tears and blubbering were now out of the way. Looking around the empty space, a shaky breath left her lips.
“Th-this place is so quiet...” she whispered. Noire really didn’t want to move but her curiosity got the best of her and she was now walking over the debris, “Nah! What if this place is haunted!” her voice became a bit shrill at the thought.
The area was white but the windows and sunlight covered the room in hues of orange, yellow, and red. She didn’t notice the shadows in the corners at first, they were silent but when they scuttled across the floor, Noire knew they were in trouble.
“Oh I knew this place was cursed!” She wailed as she ran her way back to Nah’s side. Her bow was drawn with an arrow, ready to attack whatever spirits came at them, “N-Nah get ready!”
