some other taxonomic facts for you to get mad at evolution for, instead of "birds are dinosaurs"
"Insects are Crustaceans" (Pancrustacea)
"Dolphins are Hoofed Mammals" (Artiodactyl)
"Mushrooms are closer to Animals than they are to Plants" (Opisthokont)
"Hyenas are Cat-like" (Feliformia)
"Herpetology is a LYING BASTARD since Amphibians are equally close to Mammals and Reptiles, and there's no reason it should be included like that. if anything, Herpetology should be a parent science of Ornithology, since birds are reptiles. why the fuck are toads here??" (Amniota, Sauria)
"really, we're all just fish" (Sarcopterygii)
Bug Edition:
termites are cockroaches
ants are wasps
bees are wasps
butterflies are moths
ticks are mites
fleas are scorpionflies? this one's weird
horseshoe crabs are almost definitely arachnids
insects are crustaceans
I want to add a few (plant facts):
Plants are algae but kelp is not a plant (Viridiplantae, Stramenopiles)
Corn and bamboo are grasses, but cattails are not (Poaceae, Typhaceae)
Grasses are flowering plants (Angiosperms)
Star anise is about as different from anise as it is from almost any other flowering plant (Austrobaileyales, Asterids)
Acacias are legumes (Fabaceae)
Taxonomically, there's no such thing as a tree, and the property of being tree has evolved independently and been lost many times.
A friend of mine made this taxonomic tree showing how many times "trees" have evolved.
