This one took a hot second but I'm superduperduper proud of it. I also know I promised pencil sketches to fill up the time but ya boy got carried away lol. This one is a counterpart to my other comic, "Blue Dress". Where that one had Puppet Spam reminiscing about his past, this one's about AdiSpam thinking about his future. I really really really want to make a sequel to this comic but it all depends if the reception of this is strong enough lol

Fuck AI hype. This article title would have you believe researchers prompted ChatGPT to make a deadly virus and it went "here you go!" and it worked first try. That's not remotely what happened.

So basically, this is NOT one of the general models you think of when you hear "AI", it's a specialist model trained on genetic code only. It's also apparently really, really bad at its job. Out of some mysterious number of attempts to make a virus that does the basic thing all viruses do, the researchers hand-picked 302 of them to synthesize (implying it generated a lot of results that were obviously garbage), and 16 of those attempts did the thing. At this point it's like 1000x worse than simply copying an existing viral genome.
From my education, I have doubts that LLMs will be a good approach to this kind of task because biology has a lot of complicated rules and relatively little data to train off of due to the fact that genomes contain a lot of redundant information in the form of homologous genes. It's way easier to overfit the data than to understand all those rules.
Hey. If people aren't aware, Microsoft admitted they know who you and where you are at all times and will give your info to the police.
They have a Global Device Identifier (GDID) Tracker that functions as a fingerprint for your PC that can surpass VPNs, proxy servers and countries. Although it can't survive a clean reinstall of Windows (it can survive updates), because Microsoft forces you to go to the internet and log in into a Microsoft account, they will be able to get to you.
Microsoft kept it secret and it was only found out when the FBI tracked a hacker thanks to the information Microsoft gave them.
You should be paying attention to this, and possibly consider moving away from Windows. If a government, especially the US government, doesn't like you for some reason, this could be seriously concerning.

There’s no consent screen. A GDID gets assigned when you sign into a Microsoft Account. Apple’s advertising identifier needs an App Tracking Transparency prompt and a visible reset; Android’s works the same way. GDID has neither, and a Windows reinstall only gets you a new number Microsoft can still get back to the same account.
Then there’s activation. Massgrave, the group behind Microsoft Activation Scripts, notes that Windows setup sends hardware info to Microsoft and gets identifiers back, the same tokens later used for Store access and licensing: “It’s impossible to prevent Windows from getting a GDID without breaking activation and UWP app[s].” Anyone who lost a license after swapping a motherboard has already met a smaller version of this.

so in the 2003 Aquaman series they introduce a new backstory for archvillain Black Manta in which the entire reason for his (hyper)fixation on destroying Aquaman's life was severely maltreated autism, which Aquaman then cures him of with his magic water hand to completely redeem him. and this is obviously insanely stupid and ill-conceived and genuinely hateful, but given all of that, this is still one of the funniest speech balloons i've ever read in a comic. me @ myself when i remember how i acted in high school or whatever
