Sorry for suddenly talking about something serious instead of replying to recent comments/tags/asks, but I genuinely do not want to stay silent while being publicly accused of something I did not do.
An anon today reached out to tell me that "Moyiglow made several TikToks stating that they feel you've stolen their hair idea from a WIP on twitter, calling you a copycat, and saying they blocked you." I'm grateful they told me, because otherwise I would have never known any of this was happening. I know they asked me not to publicly answer it, but at this point I feel like I have no choice.
I'm making this response publicly because I literally have no way to contact @Moyiglow privately even if I wanted to. Their twitter/x account is suspended, their tumblr has me blocked, and I do not even have a tiktok account. Yes, technically I could try commenting under their patreon or something, but honestly, why am I expected to privately defend myself against something I never did in the first place?
(and now, after I posted this response and went back to check whether they had posted any WIPs on patreon, I discovered that I had been blocked there as well. At this point, I genuinely do not understand why I am being blocked across every platform unless they simply do not want me to defend myself or respond publicly to these accusations. Absurd.)
However, I still went and gathered some evidence anyway because this accusation genuinely upset me. I keep a large folder of hairstyle references on my pc. The references for Tyler Hair were saved on November 12th, 2025. You can see the creation dates in the file properties screenshots I attached. (My system language is Chinese, but windows users can compare the same property locations on their own systems.) The Tyler Hair.package file itself was also already created on December 30th, 2025.
Yes, I only finished making the hair recently. Because frankly, this hairstyle intimidated me for a long time and I kept putting it off. But I had already saved the real-life references months ago and already started preparing the project long before this situation. And this is what confuses me the most: if I already had real-life references saved from months ago, why would I even need to "steal" someone's WIP idea?
I did not follow @Moyiglow on twitter/x. In fact, before receiving that anon ask today, I had never even searched for their twitter account. Yes, I have a twitter account, but I mainly use it to follow artists, lads fan content, and occasionally repost posts from people using my cc. I do not use twitter to keep up with sims cc creators.
Another thing I really want people to think carefully about is: what exactly counts as "stealing an idea" here?
Because most cc creators, including myself, use real-life references. Hairstyles exist in real life before any of us recreate them in the sims. If two creators use the same popular pinterest reference, that is not automatically theft. Otherwise, almost every creator in this community could accuse each other endlessly. The reference I used for Tyler Hair literally has thousands of likes on pinterest. Thousands of people have seen it. Obviously multiple creators may feel inspired by the same hairstyle. Nobody can monopolize making locs any more than someone could monopolize wolf cuts, jellyfish hair, hime cuts, or alpha curls. These are all real hairstyles that exist outside of the sims community. If simply creating the same general hairstyle concept counted as "stealing", then honestly the entire cc community would not even be able to exist. In fact, before they blocked me on patreon today, I noticed that some of their previous hair posts explicitly stated they were "inspired by" specific artworks created by other artists, and they even included the original artwork images as references. So by their own logic, would it then be fair for me to accuse them of "stealing ideas" from those artists as well?
And honestly, similar situations have happened to me before. When I noticed another creator had already posted a hairstyle that looked very similar to one I was currently working on, I became worried that people might accuse either of us of copying. So I reached out to them directly and politely to clarify things. It turned out that the same commissioner had sent both of us the same reference image. the entire conversation was respectful and pleasant on both sides, and we handled it like normal adults communicating privately instead of publicly accusing each other. I even mentioned this openly in my Alphie Hair post.
What hurts the most is that I was never approached privately first. Instead:
Publicly called a "copycat"
And discussed on a platform I cannot even access or respond on
So now I am forced into a position where I have to publicly defend myself against something I genuinely did not do.
I'm typing this while genuinely shaking because this whole situation has been extremely upsetting to me. even without a tiktok account, I know how quickly accusations spread there, especially accusations using words like "copycat". Being asked to "prove" I didn't secretly stalk someone's WIP is honestly absurd and deeply discouraging.
I have always tried to be careful within this community. Being publicly painted as dishonest over a hairstyle based on a real-life reference has genuinely damaged my motivation and trust. If anyone here has access to tiktok or is not blocked by @Moyiglow on tumblr, I would appreciate it if you could at least let them know that I have publicly responded to these accusations. I believe I deserve an apology, and honestly, if someone publicly spreads accusations like this, they should also publicly clarify the situation afterward instead of leaving those claims hanging.
I'm not interested in dragging this into endless public drama. But I will absolutely remember this. Out of everything I've experienced as a cc creator, this has genuinely been one of the most ridiculous and hurtful accusations I've ever received.
