BLACK DOGS

A black dog is a spectral or demonic entity found primarily in the folklore of the British Isles. The black dog is essentially a nocturnal apparition, in some cases a shapeshifter, and is often said to be associated with the Devil or described as a hellhound. It is larger than a normal dog and often has glowing eyes. It is sometimes associated with electrical storms and also with crossroads, places of execution, and ancient pathways. Black dogs are generally regarded as sinister or malevolent, and a few are said to be directly harmful. A rare few, however, such as the Gurt Dog in Somersetand the Black Dog of the Hanging Hills in Connecticut, are said to behave benevolently, guiding travellers at night onto the right path or guarding them from danger. In Norfolk, Suffolk and the northern parts of Essex, a black dog known as Black Shuck is regarded as extremely malevolent, and tales state that in 1577 it attacked two churches, killing five, leaving behind scorch marks and the smell of brimstone. Nearly 500 years after the tale spread, archaeologists unearthed the skeleton of a 7ft long dog from the remains of an ancient abbey located just a few miles from the churches.

its just so... its not like i dont think ukraine is going through a horrible situation right now and i dont think all the solidarity with them is a bad thing or anything like that but its so sinister when you remember how little attention this would get if it was anything but a white country. where was palestine's somber chorus on snl? where was syria's moment of silence? why is israel still in eurovision? its just... its so transparent its not even funny.

But this was just a bad, cruel, unloving take. I mean really. How egotistical? “Hey, hey guys, I know this invasion is bad and people are dying but what about THESE invasions? Don’t they matter? Huh? Look over here, don’t look at them!” It’s just in such bad faith.

Like, regardless on how valid your argument may be, this was just a horrible case of “not reading the room.” I mean shit. Do you like it when you’re suffering and some asshat just stands up and pulls all eyes away from you to say “Hey! No! I’m suffering more!!!”

i think the only reason you could possibly take this much offense to somebody being upset at how the suffering of black and brown people gets ignored by people who obviously have the capacity to care is if you also do not care about the suffering of black and brown people. nowhere did i mention anything about anyone suffering more. nowhere did i say ukraine shouldn't be paid attention to, in fact I said the exact opposite. all i said was that many people clearly care about ukraine who did not care about palestine, or somalia, or syria, or iran. and the reason for that is obvious.

We’re not punishing the citizens, we’re punishing the government systems they use to make those payments so the citizens are more likely to take action like protest against their government instead of just saying “not my problem”

Thrusting millions of people into poverty through economic strangulation is in fact targeting its citizens. It is delusional, calloused, and dangerous to suggest otherwise. It also almost always does not work. The US stealing 3.5 billion in Afghan assets and sanctioning Afghanistan hasn’t led to the people rising up and overthrowing the Taliban. It’s led to millions more people being plunged into poverty to the point that thousands of parents are having to sell their own organs to keep their children fed. Even if you think that the end result IS a popular uprising that result is reached through intentional mass emmiseration.
