Not only that - Halt, having issues with royalty and water after Ferris almost drowned him, willingly almost drowned again in Wildriver rescuing another prince (whom he didn’t even know) only because Crowley asked him. If that’s not love, I don’t know what is.

Just gonna put it out there that you don’t need to be that aggressive against TRR

I know a lot of us don’t like it (myself included) for a variety of valid reasons. But I also know a lot of people in his community do like it for their own reasons. A lot of stuff happened in that book and it split the fandom, but I don’t want to alienate people who liked a book that I didn’t. Our community is already so small, you know?

You can say you don’t like it and why and complain about Flanny’s writing, but stuff like censoring out the name of the book feels really gross to me, and I’m on the team that didn’t like it. So maybe ease up before we break the fandom in half?

This Thursday I will buy a bow and arrows and I want to customize them in Ranger style.

I know that Will's arrows have two red and one black feather, but what about the other Rangers? Is it even mentioned or does anyone have some ideas?

Halt's arrows have gray feathers (mentioned in multiple books), not sure about the other Rangers (but Maddie has Will's colors with that white thing indicating she's an apprentice, ofc)

I wasn't sure about Halt's, but I thought they were grey. Thnx for confirming! Do you think Halt has two grey feathers and the third one of another colour? Or just all grey?

here's a part of Oakleaf Bearers, chapter 9:

The arrow, black-shafted, gray-feathered, seemed to appear in the center of the approaching warrior’s chest. He fell backward in the snow. Another thrum-hiss-smack and the second man went down as well. The third turned and ran for the horses tethered on the far side of the camp. Galloping hoofbeats told Will that the remaining two men had already made their escape, unwilling to face the uncanny accuracy of the longbow.Will hesitated, his mind in a turmoil. Instinctively, he knew what had happened. Logically, he had no idea how it had come about. He turned and saw the barely visible, gray-cloaked figure some thirty meters behind him, the huge longbow still held at the ready, another arrow already drawn.

What if Will didn't have talent to become a ranger? Like, we know that Halt choose him for it and for the fact that he didn't lie when he could at that time.

But like imagine Will not becoming a ranger and living his life in peace. How would it feel to Halt, observing the son of people who saved him from shadows. Would even Halt keep watching him or would he be just satisfied that Will, too old for Ward now, has now his own life, not even slightly connected to Halt's. Will would probably never know the truth.

What if then he was sent to the farming fields because none of the other craftmasters would accept him? Would he live a peaceful life or would he grow impatient and restless, given the lively spark of his heart? What if he would be seduced by promises of adventures by some scoundrels and bandits. What if he would join some bandit group in Redmont fief. Then, in some kind of fight where Halt encounters that group, Will attacks him, just because he knows they're about to get arrested and he fights out of desperation. So in their fight, accident happens. Either Halt's subconscious training kicks in and he kills Will out of self defense (let's say that by accident Will got too close) or maybe Will trips and falls on Halt's (or some other) knife and dies (or is seriously wounded and arrested if you wanted that way).

Heck, what was I trying to say at the begining? I have no idea. I am sorry I don't know what I wanted to achieve with this.

Or MaYbE hAlT dOeSn’T kIlL hIm BeCaUsE tHaT mAkEs Me SaD but instead, bandit!Will somehow gets away every time the Ranger shows up. He joins crew after crew because everyone he’s with gets killed/arrested as soon as they try anything more than a quiet b/e or mugging.

Word spreads that this kid is cursed or unlucky or something and he can’t find anyone to help him get what he needs to survive so he has to work on his own. Will’s a clever kid, and he realizes that the Ranger can’t or won’t kill him for some reason, so as long as he only takes what he needs to survive, he should be fine.

Or so he thinks.
