Tactical Heartstrings - i’ve quite literally been OBSESSED with this fic, the amount of times i’ve screamed is unholy. most notably it addresses the fact that Judy is such a hottie, like ofc she’d have Agent Jack Savage pining over her. kinda. love triangle? basically a fic surrounding Nick being so jealous it’s insane and an exorbitant amount of gift giving. bonus points for teaching me flower love language.
A Conflict in Biology By @marvelouscoyote - how does one write so in character! how! this little fic gives a unique perspective into Dr Fuzzby’s take on Wildehopps. if you’re a banter enthusiast like me you’ll love it. it’s also so interesting to hear another characters perspective on their obvious flirtation.
Not Awkward at All - also by Marvelouscoyote! again so in character it’s insane. like wtf. please lend me some. Nick and Judy are awkward the night after some- awkward - events? trust me here. also kinda drunken confessions?
Paradise on a Budget - this is so canon it hurts. like this screams behind the scenes so badly. Nick gets to show off all the things he loves about the city , showing Judy a real night out in town! unfinished but do not let this deter you! it can read like a one-shot (but i beg the author to finish the fic please.)
Love Languages by @literaphobe - popular for a reason duh! Wildehopps take on love languages whilst being totally in denial. what’s not to love?
Heads or Tails - drinking, drunkenness and games. i just love drunken confessions ugh. bonus points bc YOU can pick who does the drunken confession.
It’s quite a cost, but nothing comes for free - a classic new case falling in love trope, with just the right amount of head canons and cute moments. this fic inspired my head canon of Nick liking AC/DC!
Note to Nick - a cute one shot by @lawbreaker13 focusing on Nick and his emotions including his gratitude towards Judy. a little angsty but with plenty of fluff to go around
Tell me Something i don’t know - just freaking beautifully written. in character, pacing is perfect, it’s literally like a cup of hot chocolate on a winters day. Revolves around Gideon’s bakery
Champagne Problems - taylor swift reference i love it.
Broken Record - the aftermath of “Love ya Partner” is just too FREAKING GOOD. Aka Nick uses the L word

when watching the second film i absolutely fell in LOVE with the “going home scene” which is what i call it. or maybe better and more officially known as, according to the zootopia wiki, “the dream team scene”.
i just love everything about it, the slice of life idea, the beauty, the characterisation but most notably the fact it underpins their differences so VISUALLY. it is a key example of “show don’t tell” in media.
firstly we open up with such a STUNNING atmosphere, the sun is setting, the lighting is soft, the sky is pink, we see Nick and Judy together ugh. hats off to whoever worked lights for this.
the whole vibe just gives off a hard days work.
Nick’s shirt just stands out so well here and compliments the lighting/atmosphere too. plus gawd damn does he look fine 😽
we see their differences in personality visually and outspokenly: Judy holds a bunch of case files and on top her partnerships for dummies book, showing the pressure she feels and is carrying. Yet on the top is her partnership book, demonstrating she finds that her relationship with Nick to be the most important.
contrastingly, Nick carries nothing and has his typical laissez faire attitude, paws in pockets.
they discuss proving themselves outwardly.
we get this ADORABLE shot of Nick’s pov and a little glimpse in how he sees her and omg she’s just adorable. the lighting really compliments her eyes.
plus, this scene highlights their height difference like geez Nick really has to look down.
Wildehopps banter ofc.
but just admire the golden sunlight, the acacia tree, the camera blurs and focuses on Nick.
this shot is so amazing.
the hustle and bustle of everyday life in Zootopia- contrasted with Judy studying her files already (characterisation yipee!)
as well as that, the glowing gold lighting framing her is so beautiful. i feel like it kinda highlights how she’s still a smalltown bunny in a busy city.
ofc contrasted by Nick and this shot. like look how cool he looks hitching a ride on this garbage truck. it’s so playful and cool i love it.
it shows he’s at home in the city. he knows it inside and out.
and hello we finally get to see Nick’s apartment?? i love how the lighting turns quite cool and dark, contrasting the previous scenes, maybe portraying how Nick feels “better” with Judy?
and ofc we finish the sequence with the SHRINE. the carrot pen. the newspaper.
Judy occupies his space and has her own dedicated place in his home, how cute 🤭

Can we just talk about that Japanese version of “Country Road” in the film? — the lyrics were adapted so beautifully!! it moved me even more after translated them into English🥹

I feel like this animation brings out a very classic theme in a way that isn’t cliché at all. I’m not great with words so I won’t try to over-explain it, but if you like Miyazaki-style animation, you definitely have to watch this one. Don’t miss out! 😤

Operation: Cold Hearts by averagemalewife is by far one of the best fics i've read in a long while. couldn't help but adapt one of the scenes into an animatic and sketch a variety of moments from different chapters :]
