Hey y’all. My friend @hiddeninthefoothills recently found out that her service dog, Moose, has cancer (nasal carcinoma). They are hoping to pursue treatment so that he can have some extra time to enjoy retirement, but we are needing some help funding this.

Now that i’ve reconnected with my mom we talk about this magnificent dog a lot. She knows how much i adored him and it’s lovely being able to gush over his goofy ass.

this is a heavy question i guess but i need to ask. would a vet tell an owner that there was nothing else they could have done, if their pet died, if that wasn't true? i am riddled with guilt that we could have saved my cat if we brought her in sooner but my vet says we did everything we could have. but maybe she has to say that to make me feel better, i don't know. sorry for the question and thank you

If you took her in soon after you first noticed things wrong, and did what you could afford and what was reasonable for her age and condition... then yes, you did everything you could. There's so many factors that play into things that we, as pet owners and veterinary staff, have zero control over that affect the outcomes of things. My childhood dog had sporadic coughing for a month before I finally took him to the vet. Taking him in sooner would not have saved him because he had lung cancer.

The loss of a beloved pet, especially suddenly, is always hard. If you are worried about 'sooner', utilize that with your future pets. If you are looking back and going "I should have taken her in when she did X"... use that. That is her gift to your future pets, a moment of "this person loves and worries and will be ever vigilant for you". You are not omnipotent, to know always what actions to take when. But if you are doing things with the animal's best interest at heart, over your own pain and fear of loss, then you are doing everything you can do.

Tumblr has made me so sad this week... the HP game has caused so much chaos. I’m not even a huge HP fan. I loved the movies, read the books, did my pottermore, ect.  I agree. JKR is a terf. 100%. I understand everyone’s opinions but the toxic behavior people have displayed on this site is so alarming (i know it’s just as bad / even worse on other social media). I thought tumblr was better than this.  Someone could post something simple as “wow this game is so fun” and they’re attacked with just.... unbelievable hate. Commenters are putting all these spoilers on their posts to ruin the game for that person and screaming TERF from the rooftops. Like y’all... do you realize the age for tumblr is 13 and up? Some of you are coming and attacking MINORS. You are telling them to OFF THEMSELVES. Because of a GAME.  

If y’all were so concerned about this, why didn’t you actually go do something about everything you are all concerned about prior? Donate to organizations? Do more research, get really educated? But nah, let’s just throw around words like terf so much they start to lose meaning. Let’s drown the real problems with all this HP “theories” and attack anyone who dares utters HP in a positive light.

This isn’t the place I thought tumblr was. If you don’t hear from me, I’m okay <3 Just very sad and disappointed. Tumblr doesn’t feel safe anymore.

Etsy essentially banned the selling of service dog gear a week ago. Somehow I am just hearing about it.

I understand they are trying to crack down on fakes. However, those people will just go to Amazon to get "service dog" gear. It isnt like it is hard to get a vest. Etsy is punishing magnificent crafters for something that is not their fault. If it's a good shop, most of the time you have to fill out a detailed questionnaire to prove you are a handler in order to get a vest made. I have had to do this for every vest I have purchased.

This isn't fair. I'm angry. Etsy is where I bought almost all of our gear. I'm concerned for all these shops who got their inventories deleted overnight all because they had "service dog" in their tags. And, to add to all of it, most gear makers are also disabled. This is their LIVELYHOOD. Let's just make it even HARDER for the disabled community to have access to things... even as simple as a vest for their service dogs.
