So BIGBANG aren’t disbanding?

No, they're not disbanding!

In the days leading up to Still Life's release YG has been speaking to the Korean press and revealing a surprising amount, first about the reason for the release date (April 5 = Arbor Day / Cheongmyeong), then explaining that the song was about the members' “past times,” then promising it would convey their "sincere message" to the fans, then describing the musical style, instrumentals, and the members' vocal arrangements which were designed to "allow each to be heard clearly" (paraphrased)... they weren’t kidding about that part; their voices never overlap.

And now that the song is out, in an apparent effort to prevent people from further misunderstanding the song's message, they're offering commentary on the lyrics and the various elements of the music video. Recently, they said to keep in mind that it is a Korean song (lyrics almost entirely in Korean) that relies heavily on wordplay, so "the message may not be great for international fans." Yeah, well, as often as the company is speaking up and clarifying, it makes you wonder: is the message not “great” for domestic fans either? lol

"The four seasons are not the end, but a new beginning," they said. "The lyrics implythat BIGBANG will be eternal like the permanence of the seasons." And "Taeyang, the symbol of spring, who opened up the music video, re-appears at the end, after the summer, fall, and winter have passed, symbolizing another start."

As for what exactly that "new beginning" entails, be it group work or solo or some combination of both, we'll just have to wait and see. But with the song being so warmly welcomed and member activity picking up just days after their new creation’s drop date, as if emerging from a lengthy hibernation, I'd say things are looking up already.

I’m jealous of those who can function like a normal human being. They don’t have anxiety holding them back from everything, they don’t struggle to get out of bed or have to put on an act that everything is fine when its not. They don’t struggle to hold friendships and relationships… they don’t feel sad for no fucking reason everyday. Those that can hold jobs and work towards their dreams, the ones who have self esteem and see the beauty in themselves. Those that know what its like to feel safe and secure, not insecure and fearful of it all.
