Got my newest little friend - Reaper! I think his tank is very on theme.
I promised I would post these when I finished them, I just never imagined that it would take ten years. I finished the 'young Dwalin' drawing ten years ago, started the 'young Bofur' drawing and then just stopped... and never got around to it.
Literally ten years in the making the the most hilarious part is they look like they totally look like they were made at the same time, haha. A somewhat intentional choice, but the reality is I haven't actually improved much in all that time, lmao.
Even if they're just floating heads, I am very pleased with how they came out - they're basically just my version of the characters before Erebor fell.
I'm 75 hours into Veilguard and my aneurysm has bled out.
What the HELL was the point of Varric?!?
(Spoilers for end of game)
Why is it the men are allowed to age in DA:V but not the women?
I am literally in the middle of the cut scene where you meet Isabela as I type this, but I was so flabbergasted that I had to tab out and google it. I was shocked that I couldn't find anyone even mentioning it... It's been 10 years since DA:I. Varric has aged a bunch in that time. Dorian has aged a bunch in that time. They both look visibly older - grey hair, wrinkles, the works. It may or may not be significantly more flattering on one of them. ...Sorry Dorian.
Whatever, not the point. Isabela? Isabela looks like she's in her mid-twenties. Not a fleck of grey in her hair. Not a single wrinkle on her face.
Let's think about this... So Isabela was married at 18. Shortly after, her husband dies and she takes over as the captain of his ship for 10 years, per DA:O. DA:II takes place the same time, so she's likely around 28 at the beginning of the game. Add 7 years and by the end she's 35ish. There's a 4 year gap between DA:II and DA:I, so she's now about 39. DA:I takes 1 year, Trespasser takes 2, so we're up to 42 give or take. 8 years pass and we're finally at DA:V with a final age of 50.
You expect me to believe that this is a 50 year old woman?!
It's so egregious, you guys. How is no one talking about it? All I see is complaints about the character model in comparison to the DA:2 model, but 1. she looks fine and 2. that's really the least of my concern.
Why are women not allowed to age?!
Long time, no see.
I had a chance to combine two fandoms I like and I couldn't resist taking it.
I'm five minutes into Veilguard and having an aneurysm already...
Varric is all "So I know Solas is actively trying to end the the world right now, BUT HE'S MY FRIEND!" and I'm like fucking EXCUSE ME. Anders was his friend for a fucking DECADE and he watched him toil away and grind himself down to nothing helping the destitute THANKLESSLY AND WITHOUT HELP, but because he blew up a church with 10 people in it (FOR GOOD REASON) Varric was like "FUCK THAT GUY. ANDERS SUCKS". ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!
Fenders commission for @hidethedecay This was so much fun!!! Iām sorry it took me seventy thousand years, but thank you so much for commissioning me. It was an absolute pleasure working with and talking to you. <3
It was such a pleasure to work with you and Iām blown away by how INSANELY beautiful it is. Itās everything I wanted and more! Thank you so, so much!
Hey, I donāt know if youāre active on here anymore but I wanna say I love how eloquently youāve defended Anders from Dragon Age. Iāve recently gotten back into the fandom after another play through of DA2 and I canāt stand the way some fans talk about Anders. Iāve had people on Reddit call me a bad person for liking him! Itās ridiculous. Anyway, I just wanted to say itās nice to see someone have the same thoughts as me!
Iāve never been super active, but I do lurk around. Thank you so much! It makes me happy that other people still read and agree with what Iāve put out there. Youāre right he gets a lot of hate and that turns into hate for anyone that likes him. Itās silly, but it kind of means that we of have to stick together. I have more that I want to write in that regard, I just havenāt gotten angry enough to do so lately.
Iām sure Iāll get around to it and I also have an Anders drawing sitting on the back burner, so Iāll still be posting stuff occasionally, it might just take a while :]
Thought it would be fun to post them all together. My favorite boys! Iām so happy to be done with them, haha.Ā
I started this ages ago. Like right after I finished Varric... procrastination ahoy. Iām glad itās finally done - thereās not enough rogue Hawke love.Ā
I was going to do Isabela, but now... I think Iām done.Ā
I had to, naturally.

i hope you're doing well with your life, it's always strange to remember old fandom things, especially writers or artists from a readers' point of view because you never really know why they stopped and it's such a strange special relationship i think. anyways, good luck with everything, hope you're doing okay and that you didn't stop writing! your stuff was great
Still though, thank you so much for taking the time to stop by and write such a lovely comment. You really donāt know how much it means! I hope youāre doing well too!
just messaging to sort of say hello. i remember reading your fanfics ages ago, all those harry potter ones and falling absolutely in love with them. and now years later i'm kind of sad to see you've deleted them off of ff, they were really good ones. idk if you remember but i was the one that bugged you about stags and mutts so much that u just ended up emailing the whole unedited thing to me, lol it was one of my proudest moments 1/2
Wow! Well this made my day. I never imagined someone who read one of my old stories would find me elsewhere! Itās so sweet that you remember my stories still and I actually remember you too! I ended up moving away from FF and Iām on A3O now, but my stories there are from Dragon Age, since Iāve sort of stopped writing in the Harry Potter universe (though Iāll always love James/Sirius). Though I could repost my old stories, theyāre still unfinished due to no longer writing with those partners and the script style isnāt really friendly for readers, sadly. I have a hard enough time getting people to read my current stories, which are written in prose.Ā
Kitty sketches! I was inspired to draw some art for Anders and Fenris. This pretty much sums them up.Ā
TheĀ āAnders Is Sexistā Arguement
So some people like to argue that Anders is sexist because of a slight change in dialogue between male and female Hawke. Specifically, the scene where we first meet him. Hawke bursts into the clinic, demands maps, and is all around rude.Ā
If youāre male Hawke, he says,Ā āDonāt threaten me, boy.ā
If youāre female Hawke, he says,Ā āDonāt threaten me, little girl.ā
To a lot of people, the fact that he addsĀ ālittleā to the latter statement means that heās sexist towards women. Heās looking down on female Hawke for being a woman and infantilizing her. Sexist, right?
You guys... Itās not Anders. Itās the writer. Specifically, it was the writer unintentionally bringing real world societal norms into Thedas.
Donāt believe me?Ā
Think about it. How often are women called girls? Like it or not, agree with it or not, fully mature adult women are called girls all the time. How often are men called boys? Sure, it happens -Ā āOh, heās out with the boys tonightā - but itās not nearlyĀ as prevalent.
Men are called generally āguysā and since the equivalent āgalsā didnāt stick,Ā āgirlsā has basically taken its place.Ā As such, itās pretty standard to call a woman a girl.Ā
So what does that mean in the context of my argument? It means that for the insult of calling male Hawke āboyā to have the same punch for female Hawke, the writer felt it necessary to addĀ ālittleā. It wasnāt to make Anders sexist, it was to make the statement have the same impact.Ā
Sure, Anders could have called HawkeĀ ālittle boyā and he should have, really. The thing is, in our society,Ā āboyā gets the job done. You call a fully grown man aĀ āboyā, youāre going to have one emasculated man on your hands. You call a fully grown woman aĀ āgirlā... Sure, with enough stank on the word, it could certainly have an impact, but itās not the same.Ā
To make it the same, you kind of have to add the wordĀ ālittleā. Itās the only way to ensure that it is interpreted the way it was meant to be interpreted when the words boy and girl do not have equal meanings in our society.
Anders wasnāt being sexist.Ā In both cases, Anders was infantilizing Hawke. He wasnāt infantilizing female Hawke any more than he was male Hawke. It was the same - it just happens that the writer was writing from what they knew and what they knew is our society. It was the writer, not Anders.Ā
