it is not that she was totally unaware of the concept , though it is more she did not know the ins and the outs of the event. she knows it is a dance , though it seems more than just this , and perhaps she should give this whole social life a try ; even if it could be the most terrifying thing she has ever experienced , though it could be ⊠fun ? right now this conversation has her on edge , and she hopes she is doing the right thing in terms of how she is speaking at the right speed , and she is expressing herself in enough detail , and âŠâŠ
she holds a hand to her head as a headache forms at how much she is thinking about all of this far too deeply. that , and she had been rushing to finish things up , and she might not have eaten much today , though she honestly does not remember anything aside from how she had to finish what she had to get done.
â it is pâperfeâperfectly fâfine , sir. yâyou can tâtell me as lâlittlâlittle or as mâ-much as you wâwish. â she assures , reaching out to lay a comforting hand on his , though then withdraws it ; he might not appreciate that. she would never pressure someone when they did not wish to share ; she is one who didnât share things often , and she is just glad he could calm down a bit. she worried he might begin to hyperventilate or was having an attack. to see he was okay , was reassuring.
her eyes widen as she ceases writing things down to try and decipher what he already said to her in such a hasty manner. â oh , uâum âŠ. â she turns from the page to him , giving a gentle smile to him. â if tâthat is wâwhat you wâwish to do , of câcouâcourse. i jâjust âŠ.. â â have to work on my social interaction skills. â she does not finish this thought. â yâyes , i wâwill oâoffer my aâaid to you. tâthank you fâfor aâaskiâasking , that is eâever so kâkind. â
He was not one of those people whoâd offer or accept physical touch of comfort from everyone; he only loves it from someone who already is close enough to him. But at this moment he wished she didnât withdraw her hand. He appreciated her trying to be of help even without knowing what kind of issues he really has.Â
âWell, we still have a few weeks until the party,â he debated himself if he should take her hand. âSo maybe, if you want to... we could hang out together sometimes? Because, um, itâd be weird if we go there without knowing much about each other, and do dances and such. I mean, Iâm not good at it so if you donât want to dance with me you donât need to, but... anyway... I guess, I want to know you.â

has she ever been this lost when she was speaking to someone ? no , but she is sure they have been , what with her pronounced speech obstacles and how she would rush to say things when she was flustered , or anxious , or getting out an apology for something she might or might not have said.
no , in fact , she didnât know if this , and she didnât think she knows a thing going on when it pertains to the schoolâs social calendar. this was also cemented with the fact she didnât speak to anyone else , though some of the others did seem to be a bit more excited than usually on days where lessons were held.
â i mâ-mean , fâ-forgâ-forgive me , hâ-howâ-however , i was nâ-not aâ-awaââaware of this. â she admits , though she is glad he told her , if this is the favor he is asking about ; she just wishes to have all the details in place so she can help him and not turn whatever he is about to request into a catastrophe.
â of câ-couâ-course , if yâ-you wâ-wish to câ-confâ-confide in sâ-someâ-someone like me , i sâ-shouâ-should vâ-very much be the one tâ-thanâ-thanking you. â she goes on to explain , not really having a conversation with anyone here since she arrived at this school âŠ
months ago.
she did have an occasion where she was laughed at , and she does remember seeing the inside of a locked , and with the door shut it was terribly dark , if one would believe that. and not much air in there either âŠ..
she scribbled things down , mostly somewhat hurriedly written down as she strives to get down all she can and not have to be a burden and keep asking.
â of câ-couâ-course , sir. tâ-tell me oâ-only wâ-what makes you câ-comfortâ-comfortable. â valerie smiles as she poised her hand so that she is ready to go when he speaks. he could say what he wished to and leave out what he had to. even if it was a way of him keeping her in the dark or being untruthful , she didnât mind.
not at all.
He was surprised that she wasnât aware of the prom. He knew sheâs a loner, probably much more than he was, but realizing she hadnât spoken to anyone for long time, he wished he couldâve noticed and tried to talk to her at least. But he hadnât spoken to anyone in the school for a while as well, except his boyfriend (because this guy never trusted Lucas enough with their secret and forbid him to talk to other students).
âUm, thank you, thank you for understanding. This is just a little... complicated.â he was glad that she didnât nosily ask for details, but at the same that made him feel bad about using her like this.
âSo... Iâm asking you to come with me as...â a substitute? No that was too terrible to say. â...a friend. I know we havenât talked that much and you must think we arenât friends yet, at al, but... maybe we can be from now on? If you donât mind, of course...â

she did not even have the chance to greet the other , the man seeming to have just come up to her and began to speak. she was confused , of course , though the moment he opened his mouth , her own closed . though the same friendly smile remained firmly in place. lucas was one of the only ones who spoke to her , and she really did appreciate that more than he could ever possibly know , really. people seemed to avoid her like the very plague , though she didnât comment.
just kept her head down , and did what she had to.Â
she is intent as she focuses on everything he conveys to her , valerie nothing but patient with him. having the exaggerated stutter she has , she treated those with the same level of understanding she would wish for , even if it didnât happen.Â
she does what she can to dissect the meaning , and all she could pick on is that he spoke to another person , they came to an understanding , and he is acknowledging the fact she is a âŠ..Â
female ?
they had seen each other maybe a handful of times as the saying goes , though for them , that might be the most accurate thing ;
they conversed perhaps a total of three or four times , though it was mostly greetings and an how are you , then they parted ways. this was ever so in depth , and he seems to be a bit frantic , and she would do whatever she can to help.
she is not aware of the dances or the school events , so she takes a beat , her head tilting even more as she furrows her brows.Â
â my aâapologâapologies sir , i am not uâunderâunderstanding âŠ. go wâwhere , eâexaâexactly ? â she inquires , going back over his words to see if she missed a hidden meaning or something. she opens up the notebook she has in her hands , locating a pen from behind her ear, she begins to jot down what she understands , her hand moving in somewhat of a blur. â oâokay , so âŠ. you sâspoke to sâsomeâsomeone and the bâboth of you are in an aâagreeâ-agreement that âŠ. the bâboth of you câcannâcannot âŠ.. â
all she can do is gaze up at him , very much lost. she keeps looking things over many times , as she did want to help , but she couldnât do so effectively if she didnât know what she had to do.
He tried to calm down once he realized he might have confused her. âWh... where? Oh. Itâs, um, you know, there are some school events like the dances, and thereâs this big one called the prom coming... and I need someone to go with... if you donât mind...â He noticed sheâd started taking notes.Â
âOh,â heâs surprised to see someone listening to him so intently. âThank you... thank you for taking this, me, seriously.â He sat down beside her and wondered how much he should reveal. It somehow felt safe to tell her everything.Â
And then thereâs this promise. The promise he made to his boyfriend that he wouldnât tell anyone. In a dilemma between not wanting to lie to her and not wanting to break the promise, he decided to keep it honest.
âOkay, where to start... Iâm not going to lie to you, but I have to skip some details, because, I made a promise to someone that I wonât tell something...âÂ
