Every fae is bound to the truth. And you are the only exception. You are the only fae who can lie.

Every fae, half-blood or not, is inherently bound to speak no falsehoods. Unable to lie, they have instead perfected the art of bending the truth. Centuries of bargains and curses have earned them humanity's fear and reluctant respect alike.

You were born of those two worlds, a half-fae shunned by both. But you carried within an anomaly, an aberration on the Queen's sacred image, the ability to lie.

To keep your secret safe, the renowned sage known as the Peregrine took you in as their disciple. And under their patronage, you survived beyond the realm's scrutiny for most of your life.

Until now. When their disappearance forces you into the very world that would condemn you.

To uncover the truth, take your house's seat at the court in lieu of your missing mentor. Clear your name and unravel Elphame's secrets, twisting words and hearts alike.

᯽ The Prince/ss

Alias: The Envoy/The Human In Gold. Name: Yvaine/Ywain.

Human. Gender Selectable. (She/Her. He/Him.)

A royal diplomat sent to negotiate with the courts. But you know the plain, grim truth. The gilded envoy is a tithe, a martyr that the human realm believed would appease the Fae Queen. However, refusing to play the victim, the Prince/ss gravitates to you, proposing an alliance to survive in the pit of glistening vipers you were both mercilessly thrown into.

᯽ The Knight/ess

Alias: The Raven/Winter's Retainer. Name: ???

Half-Unseelie. Winter Court. Gender Selectable. (She/Her. He/Him.)

Your childhood friend and the first proof you had that other half-bloods cannot lie. Years ago, they left to serve the Winter Court. When they came back, you found that shy friend changed into a somber, solemn weapon. Though you suspect their work is darker than they let on, around you, that old innocent smile almost returns. You are the only person that still manages to make them laugh.

᯽ The Rival

Alias: The Nemesia/The Autumn Paradigm. Name: ???

Seelie. Autumn Court. Gender Selectable. (She/Her. He/Him.)

Your patron was supposed to be theirs, and they have despised you for stealing their prodigious spot ever since. Even now, standing high as the Paradigm of Autumn, the sour expression on their face betrays they were never able to get you out of their head. They seem to believe you to be behind the disappearance of your own mentor, and have resorted to hounding you for a confession.

᯽ The Sovereign

Alias: The Dreamstalker/The Night Sovereign. Name: ???

Unseelie. Gender Selectable. (Fem. or Masc.) (They/Them.)

A mysterious unseelie entity who first began tormenting you in your sleep. But since your arrival at the courts, you find them stalking empty halls and appearing to you when you're alone. They seem to be aware of your secrets, testing and teasing you to pry lies from your lips. As they offer favors and hidden knowledge, you begin to wonder if they might be involved with your mentor's disappearance.

᯽ The Herald

Alias: The Specter/The Exiled One. Name: ???

Fae. (They/Them.)

You've heard rumours about a specter, an entity so strange even the fae have made rules for. And that such specter is said to collect all that is hidden, discarded and forgotten. If for some ill-fated reason you choose to summon the Herald, do not meet them without an offering, and never accept flowers from the Exile.

Oh I love the jealous route with Freya, especially for an MC that looks fully human, who's soft spoken and kind of a scaredy cat. She doesn't understand why she's the weak one, and Freya gets claws and fangs! Its so fun

Oh, I do love writing that route and letting the little moments of pettiness/jealousy show up! I feel like many chose the parent-lite version because Freya is that adorable, but this route lets me uhhh make MC a kid with their less than graceful moments. So many occasions to show that!

The wolf's fur is more coarse than the djinn Master anticipated. Still, he enjoys petting them, or even just resting his hand on their enormous head. The wolf, with time, started allowing more and more touch to happen. And now they stay very still when the djinn Master pets them.

It feels incredibly empowering to have such a formidable beast submit to him. Though, he has not yet managed to make them shift into their human form. He has so many things to ask them.

... perhaps in time. After all, he has no intention of letting them out of his lair.

The djinn Master does not understand why the wolf won't cooperate. They keep stubbornly lashing out, to the point where only a few younglings now dare to come close enough to feed them and bring away their waste bucket.

He looks at the growling wolf with disappointment. Most of the scars they have acquired were not necessary. He feels a slight sense of pity for them.

"Just be good, wolf, we could work toge-"

They throw themselves to the silver bars, and this time even the djinn Master flinches at the sizzling sound.

"... alright. Perhaps you need more time."

As he leaves, he instructs the young djinns to half the meat rations for the wolf. Perhaps, if they are weakened enough, they will see more reason.

Just thought I’d drop by to say, I enjoy all the djinn master’s snippets very much! I never thought it’d be something we’d get, and the difference between how the djinn master appeared to us and how his mind seems to work is quite jarring. I very much didn’t expect it, great work with that.

In that topic, if you don’t mind me asking, are the snippets something you already had in mind when writing the current demo, or did you think about them later on? And also, are you planning on introducing them directly in the game in a way or another?

I am so glad you enjoyed them. He is a peculiar character because, as many abusers, he does not consided himself one. Though what he did to MC was horrific, he was never malicious. I will leave to your MCs, and to you as readers, to decide if that's better, worse, or neither.

I honestly didn't have them planned, but now that they're here, I am kinda tempted to put them in the game... perhaps I will do just that!

I... I just opened the file for the third chapter after months, and I have come across an issue. I kinda... don't remember what I wanted to happen in this chapter. 0 notes, fuck you, past Kal. I have the vague, vague outline but other than that I guess I'll have to rework it from the ground up.

Which might not be a bad idea, and in the meantime I guess I'll give a throughout read of the first and second chapter as well
