Space is warped and Time is bendable, and sometimes things that should be gone for good do come back. Such is the case with Neltharion and Malygos, who find themselves back amongst the living, with a ton of memories not their own, lots of questions to answer and, naturally, a world to save.

Heroes and other Scoundrels is an AU exploring the idea of what could be if Malygos and Neltharion both would get a second chance. A fic especially for everyone who is disappointed with how canon lore handled these two. (and the lore in general)
It's also an E rated shipping fic, so expect some raunchy bits, quite a bit of swearing and crude humor.

Prologue Part I: A Song for the Living
Not too long after the destruction of Dalaran, in a dark and stormy night, Neltharion and Malygos find themselves back amongst the living. All due to a long forgotten, haphazardly thrown together spell Malygos had cast thousands of years ago to ward off the end of the world.
So it's up to these two now to go save the world. But they need to come to terms with each other first and make peace. And spill some well-kept secrets kept for far too long.

Prologue Part II: All Buskers, Rovers and Saints (E)
With the help of a strange tavernkeep Malygos and Neltharion manage to sort their thoughts, open up to one another, and finally make their way to Tanaris to talk to Nozdormu about everything. Because if they want to try and save the world, they certainly need one thing: More time.

Chapter 1: Hangman's Lullaby
Our dynamic duo is back in the past, meeting old friends and new enemies, and learn that the rabbit hole goes much deeper than anticipated. And as this is Azeroth, deep down below is where the Old Gods dwell.
Also the boys decided to buy a tavern.

Chapter 2: The More the Merrier
Neltharion makes his way to Stormwind to see about the tavern, naturally running into trouble along the way.
Back at the tavern the grafted timeways bring forth an unexpected visit.

Chapter 3: Where We Belong (E)
Having had to reveal himself to Onyxia, Neltharion fills his daughter in on what's going on, while Nozdormu has a heart to heart with Malygos.
Back in Stormwind a new foe enters the stage.

Chapter 4: Take Me Back Where I Belong
Neltharion returns from Stormwind and tell the others of his (mis)adventures. Likewise Malygos and Nozdormu share the news about what disaster nearly befell them.
Elsewhere, meanwhile, Nefarian learns of the necromancers up north and his interest is piqued, while at the other end of the continent Kalecgos and a friend make a very strange discovery.

Chapter 5: Them Fallen
The recent discoveries of the various groups are investigated, drawing some unwanted attention.
Also Nefarian goes missing.

Chapter 6: Dragons do as Dragons do
While Malygos chases after Nefarian up north, he has first a run-in with a familiar face, and then one with a very familiar face: His own.
Meanwhile the same happens to Neltharion, with unexpected results.

Chapter 7: Once in a While
Revelations are being dealt with, but new questions rear their heads.

More revelations are being dealt with, new plans are made, reality is doubted. Or is it?

Neltharion receives an unexpected and certainly unwanted visit, and elsewhere people are growing suspicious of things.

Chapter 10: There's a Story in all Things (E)
Neltharion and Malygos find out what happened to Nefarian; and everyone has to deal with the aftermaths of the recent developments.

Everyone tries to see to their plans, as usual with unexpected results.

Chapter 12: Burning the Night
While Malygos and Neltharion continue investigating the strange items in their possession, other people investigate the strange couple itself. With varying success.
Chapter 13: Ramblin' Rovers
All across the board our friends are being plagued by stray memories and strange dreams, that might one day hold the answer to the looming threat.

Chapter 14: Gotta get it Home
Thoughts are sorted, plans are made, things are revealed. Malygos and Neltharion have a decently good time, but roughly two decades later, Wrathion and Sabellian do not.

About everyone finally meets up at the tavern, and not a single mystery is solved.
