buckle up everyone!!!! we are quite literally back in Nazi Germany, with a very familiar playbook happening right before our very eyes!!!! post with some tips and pleading reminders below!!!!!
first: TRUMP IS LOOKING TO DECLARE MARTIAL LAW by sewing discord. By bombarding us with horrible action after horrible action, he's hoping violent protests will erupt. DON'T FALL FOR IT!
instead, it's now time to start focusing on being the safest, most active source of help and assistance that you, as an individual, can offer. it's time to start considering the most radical actions you used to think about in high school when learning about the Holocaust. Would you have been actually willing to offer Anne Frank and her family a sanctuary? Would you have been willing to make the police's job harder by lying directly to them?
and I think for some this may genuinely mean offering a "safe heaven" place of hiding for someone who may need that protection, if the opportunity arises. For others, it means documenting ICE raids. For ALL of us, this will mean boycotts and strikes that will demand sacrifice.
so please, start thinking about how far you're really willing to go to protect the community, and do it.
that being said..... realistically, prosecution of anyone labeled a socialist, liberal, communist etc is very possible in the near future. so PLEASE, remember to keep your Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Reddit, etc accounts CLEAR of ANY posts suggesting you might be a source of assistance. For actions that could be deemed more "radical" i.e. providing shelter or travel across state lines, wait until opportunities to help arise IN PERSON. or, take online communications about opportunities, like hearing about a nearby family's need for hiding, offline as SOON as possible.
