"the feeling of shame, therefore, is not triggered by how others view ourselves (this is better understood through the concept of reputation) or how we view ourselves (this is better understood through the concept of self-esteem) but rather by our own negative judgment regarding how we want others to view ourselves. it is a complex form of self-consciousness whereby an individual a) is conscious of being seen as X and b) forms a negative judgment regarding what it is to be seen as X. this follows even in cases where the individual does not think of herself as X, for what is important is that she not want to be seen by others in this way ... this also follows in cases where "being seen as X" is not—from the point of view of the audience—a negative judgment. for example, velleman argues that sometimes "[w]e keep something private not because we fear disapproval of them but rather because we fear approval of a sort that we would experience as vulgar or cheap" and would result in a feeling of shame. my self-presentation can be compromised by approval if i do not want approval of the sort offered. shame always involves a negative judgment but the negative judgment is that of the individual who feels the shame and not of that individual's audience—i can disapprove of your positive view of me if i consider your opinion contemptible."

Mini quilt, about 14 x 17"
minos was such a pussy. if my wife gave birth to an epic minotaur baby i wouldn't have locked him in a labyrinth. i would have taken him to the mcdonalds play place (athens) every day and let him eat as many stray mcnuggets (athenians) off the floor as he wanted. i love you hungry son
(pulling a painted vase out of my wallet) and this is my youngest at his first nose ring fitting. isn't he handsome
can you put that thing on a leash?
For a little while I was making these dudes (I called them sneefters), but they kept breaking or falling over in the kiln. Maybe sometime I'll try some more that are sitting like the strawberry & crying ones.
the anniversary of library paste man’s death is in four days.
One hundred and ten years ago to the day. Amazing. Incredible.
RIP😔🙏📚🍯
one time I went over to a friend's house and their housemate was making paper in the living room, and we saw this big tub full of water they were using to dissolve old scrap paper into a slurry, and everyone was immediately like "oh, you need scrap paper?" and started turning out their jacket pockets and producing expired coupons and bus tickets and crumpled receipts and old shopping lists and whatever else they'd been carrying round with them for no good reason, and passing it all to the paper-making housemate to make sure it was suitable before it got torn up and dropped into the tub, while people took turns stirring the slurry with a big wooden stick. it was strangely ritualistic, like presenting an offering to some kind of temple elder for inspection before placing it in a watery shrine to be devoured and reformed. pulp for the pulp god.
“30”, collage inspired by laying on the floor doing respiratory physiotherapy and seeing a buzzard circling in a gap between the umbrella shading the window and the roof as it blew in the breeze
ending a social interaction with a friend and thinking "I think we grew a little bit closer today." in my head as if I'm a dating game protagonist
