continued from here.
Magolor didn’t even say anything at first, but he couldn’t help himself from smiling beneath his scarf. “…How is it?”
“Psh, you call that spicy?” Gryll snorted and just…ate the rest of the curry in one go. They used their hand to wipe their mouth and patted their stomach; “That was nothin’! It was tasty, sure, but it wasn’t that-”
“Huh. My mouth feels funny. Is that supposed to happen?”
Magolor giggled softly. “Sometimes it takes a few seconds for the heat to kick in. ‘[First the flavor, then the fire,]’ so we say on Halcandra. You’ll see what I mean soon enough.” Magolor, you sick, twisted egg. “That funny feeling is just the beginning of it.”
Can I have some of that curry too? {from supertuffpinkpuff}
“Oh, Kirby! What a pleasant surprise…” Of course the little puff would appear for food. It was one of the easiest ways to summon him– it was like he could smell anything freshly cooked from halfway across Pop Star.
Magolor smirked from beneath his scarf. “…Of course you can have some curry! I still have some left over– for everything I have to replace in the original recipe, I have to travel to many different places to get the right spices. Neo Star, Endless Explosions, all over the galaxy… So I’d be a fool to not make a large batch of it! Help yourself, Kirby! …But don’t take all of it, you know.”
Oh, boy, let’s hope Kirby can handle his spices.
continued from here.
Magolor didn’t even say anything at first, but he couldn’t help himself from smiling beneath his scarf. “...How is it?”
highfive-lowfive:
“Well, that sounds like a downright miserable way to live, in my opinion,” Magolor tutted. “Such hardship and pain just to survive? No thanks. That’s why I hardly ever leave the Lor these days; it’s far safer in here than anywhere I’ve seen, even on Pop Star.”
“And far more comfortable, as I hope you’ll find.” Or maybe not. If they enjoy staying here, they might not want to leave… But then again, leaving a good impression on a guest is always beneficial, isn’t it? Besides, as much as Magolor refused to admit it, he was almost starting to tolerate the witch…
He gestured into the room. “Now, let’s get that leg checked up on, shall we? Like I said before, the longer you walk on it, the worse it’ll be.”
“Whaaaaaaa?!” Gryll turned around towards Magolor in shock; they forgot once again that their leg was hurt, and nearly toppled over. That also hurt, but their outrage outdid it; “So you just stay here all day? Every day?! On purpose!? Why in the galaxy would you do that!?”
They limped into the room, having to hold on to Magolor thanks to their strain on their leg; they used this opportunity to tug on the Halcandran’s robe in reproach.
“I don’t care how fancy-schmancy your boat is; it’s nothin’ compared to the world outside! So many places to see, and things to do, and people to meet! And you have the perfect boat to go out and do it all, and you just stay inside it?!”
“Yes. Yes I do. I can see all those places just fine from within the Lor, thank you very much.” Magolor said, still providing support and guidance to the limping witch. “Far less risky that way. You can’t break a leg so easily when you’re in a Starcutter all day! Speaking of which, if you’d just take a seat here...” Magolor set the witch down on a bench-like piece of furniture and looked around the room. “Now where did I put... Ah! There it is!” He soon turned back to the witch with some sort of mechanism that looked like a Nintendo Switch™ a tablet of some sort in his hands.
“Now, this is sort of like a portable x-ray... I’ll hold it over your leg, and it scans beneath the surface to see what the damage is underneath. It won’t hurt a bit, I promise.” At least, it never hurt for Halcandrans. Magolor assumed that the biological structures of beings from this dimension weren’t so different... right? “...Or, well, if it does, it won’t hurt much. Just like a small pinch or so at most.”

Magolor would not consider himself artistically inclined by any means. That doesn’t mean, however, that he never picks up a sketchbook from time to time.
He has a habit of drawing quick, yet detailed sketches of the beings he encounters in his travels through space, usually with a handful of notes to the sides.

Magolor made a mental note of Gryll’s first statement, nodding and muttering more apologies. Avoid making jokes about stupidity around them. Got it. As they stopped, he stopped as well, so they wouldn’t be too far behind. On seeing their reaction to the Lor’s technology, however, he couldn’t help but smile beneath his scarf.
“A boat?” Magolor chuckled. “Well, do your boats travel between dimensions? Yes, while she may appear like a boat on the outside, this ship is a Starcutter– some of Halcandra’s finest technology! She travels through space and time, faster than any other ship I’ve seen before! It’s totally radical,” he said with a small grin that almost peeked from beneath his scarf. “I’ll tell you more once we’re done getting that leg all patched up.“
“Speaking of which, we’re not far now from where we need to go.” Magolor floated off a small ways and pushed a button near a door, causing it to slide open with a ‘SHUP!’ “I can’t imagine how it must feel to have to walk so far, especially not on an injured leg like that.”
“Travel between dimensions!? Through space and time?!” Gryll turned around to look at Magolor so quickly it send another jolt of pain down their leg, yet they didn’t care. “Now I know you’re messin’ with me! Can your boat really do all that!?”
Gryll didn’t know a lot about technology or machines - nothing, as a matter of fact. But they did know a thing or two about magic, like how the farther you traveled, the more magic you spent. To travel between dimensions, tearing through space and time, just had to require an incredible amount of magic - or whatever machines used to move around-
The door suddenly opened, and Gryll nearly toppled backwards, once again at the defensive. They saw it was just a door though, and they let their guard down. “Psh, I’ve walked with worse. I told you; I’m a tough cookie! In Neo Star, you gotta tough it out to make it through the day.” They announced the fact with pride, chest puffed out, completely unaware of how bad their words could sound to anyone else.

Make my Muse a Pokemon Team!
Well, this certainly was… a unique group. A giant squid thing, an absolutely massive construct of steel, a mash of magnets– Magolor made a mental note to keep that one away from the Lor’s controls– and…
“[Oh goodness…]” It seems the cat and the floating… duck… thing… caught Magolor’s eye, because he scooped them both up in his hands. “[What precious little things…]” Looks like he has a soft spot after all. Thank goodness he was alone, so no one could see him like this.

“Of course, of course…” Magolor muttered, “I’m not normally…” This snippy? Easily aggravated? Pushy and possessive? He struggled to find the right words. Usually, he puts up a facade to cover it all up, after all. “…like this. Don’t know what came over me. I can understand if you’re still upset. But I swear by all the stars, I won’t lay a hand on you again.”
Magolor couldn’t bring himself to look in their direction, either, only looking forward towards the hall that held their destination. With that, he hoped what he’d said was enough to satisfy the witch, and floated on.
While they still refused to look directly at him, Gryll now looked at Magolor from the corner of their eye. At least they did sound genuinely sorry.
“I’m usually not so jumpy, either.” They murmured, slowing their pace so they were almost next to the Halcandran; “But I don’t like people treatin’ me like I’m dumb or somethin’.”
But even now in such a tense situation, Gryll couldn’t stop themselves from gawking at the insides of the Lor Starcutter. Everything was so clean and shiny, with so many bright lights; it was truly unlike anything Gryll had ever seen in their life!
“Y’know, I still can’t believe this is a boat!” Gryll stopped right in the middle of the room, turning their head to look in all directions in wonder; “The boats back where I’m from are all tiny and made of wood! I didn’t know they could be big enough to live in!”
Magolor made a mental note of Gryll’s first statement, nodding and muttering more apologies. Avoid making jokes about stupidity around them. Got it. As they stopped, he stopped as well, so they wouldn’t be too far behind. On seeing their reaction to the Lor’s technology, however, he couldn’t help but smile beneath his scarf.

highfive-lowfive:
“Do you want to get you leg fixed or n–” Whirling around to snap at them, Magolor faltered when he saw the look in their eyes. He really had been hard on the poor witch, and they hadn’t really done anything wrong. Get a hold of yourself, Magolor, they didn’t mean any harm. Cool your jets.
With a sigh, he pinched where the bridge of his nose would be if he had one. “I… You’re right. I’m sorry– that was harsh, even for me. I just…” His ear twitched, and he turned back around. “I’m sorry. How about this? After I get your leg fixed up, I’ll show you how everything works, as long as you don’t touch anything.”
Gryll took a step back when Magolor turned around, holding the hand he had grabbed close to their chest, and winced when pain shot up their leg; all movement and tension in their body had just made the injury worse. But they couldn’t help it.
Gryll hated being talked down on, and they also hated being grabbed so harshly like that. And for good reasons.
But…he did apologize. And he was even offering to show them how the ship worked later. He was already letting them stay in their ship and tend to their leg in the first place, so they could let that outburst slide for now, right?
“Fine.” They nearly spat the word, limping towards Magolor but not meeting his gaze. “But you better believe I’m holdin’ you up to that promise! And since my leg’s hurt, you gotta be nice to me from now on!”
They stopped in their tracks. “That means no more grabbing me like that. Ever.”
“Of course, of course...” Magolor muttered, “I’m not normally...” This snippy? Easily aggravated? Pushy and possessive? He struggled to find the right words. Usually, he puts up a facade to cover it all up, after all. “...like this. Don’t know what came over me. I can understand if you’re still upset.
