Ya know, I kinda like that feysand didn’t confess their feelings on Starfall. I think it would have been a really easy cliché moment: they’re all dressed up and pretty and happy and the stars are putting on a show and it’s the calm before the storm and they clearly, clearly are in love with one another.
But no, it doesn’t happen then. I think it’s all well and good for creating tension in the book, but also, consider this: emotional intimacy.
Think about chapter 54. The fact that Rhysand confesses everything, he opens his heart and his past and gives Feyre everything. We cry, she cries, he cries, we all cry, and it creates this incredibly deep bond between them.
That wouldn’t have happened on Starfall. Starfall would have been about “oh, isn’t this moment romantic, I love you”, versus “here is the entirety of my life and being, I love you”. That’s the difference in those scenes, in those choices. And so I just really, really appreciate chapter 54.
