Cardan as a character during The Cruel Prince is a conundrum. Despite all his bullying of Jude, he still manages to take care of her.

After throwing her in the river, he remains there so the nixies don’t get to her.

He stops serial-killer-in-the-making Valerian from making her choke on fairy fruit even though he still mocks her.

He pricks her finger so that the salt in her blood breaks the spell from the faery fruit, making sure she has her wits about her when Locke takes her away on his own. That way she’s in control and he can’t take advantage of her.

For the coronation he sends her a dress suited for a princess so that she won’t be outdone by Taryn.

He interrupts Locke’s game at the coronation with the words “Time to change partners. Oh, did I steal your line?” Knowing how clever Jude is, giving her a chance to figure out Locke’s intentions.

Scarlett Dragna will always have my heart. She’s such an amazing character and she deserves so much better from everyone especially Tella. I’m so glad she has Juillian with her.

I’m so glad she found someone who loves her with his whole everything. Like this girl loves so freely and so beautifully and had never ever felt the same love reciprocated- not even from Tella, until she met Juillian. I’m not saying Tella didn’t love her. They both love each other so much, but Tella doesn’t love Scar as much as Scar loves Tella. Scarlett even acknowledges this.

She’s such an eldest sister. Her sacrifices. Her silent pain. Her unconditional and endless love for Tella even tho she knew Tella would never pick her over everyone like Scar would pick Tella. The way she forgave her birth father, the way she tried to find excuses for her mother in the end…

This girl deserves happiness and love and all that is good in life.
