Let’s talk about Love

Despite still being in my youthful years, I’ve come to realize there are two kinds of romantic love. There is the very common teenage hedonistic love and truly honest love. Obviously, both kinds can be found at any age, depending on the people, circumstances and maturity levels. The T-H variety tends to be very dramatic. Yes, the people in these this type of relationship care about each other, and think they are wanting to make the other person happy, but in reality are making only working for their own happiness by trying to own their person of interest. This type of love wrongly relates jealousy with caring, fueled by insecurity of losing their prized possession (the other person). This type also throws the idea of heartbreak around. But what is heartbreak? In this sense it’s losing that person. But the truth is- people aren’t objects. If you can lose something, it was never truly yours. This leads me into the contrast of the H-L, which is fully based on selflessness. This type of love fills each partner’s heart with a true desire for the other person to be happy- but here’s the difference- regardless of whether it includes themselves. Unlike the other type, which craves the presence of the other person at all times, simply just to have it, this kind recognizes that perhaps their lover is content with whatever they are doing in absence. They do wish for their presence when some fascinating event occurs, wanting to share the experience. In honest love, there is equality, trust and support. Both participants grow into the better version of themselves they’ve always wanted to be. The latter love leaves you with a warm glow. This is all based on my analyzing of personal experience. Of course everyone is different, but I’m sure this is some food for thought for anyone.To get right to the point, T-H is a meal for your heart that might be tasty, but leaves you unsatisfied or bloated. H-L gives you what you need and the energy to grow.
