An ancient prophet once said that “all things denote there is a God”. I see Him each time I step outside, and am even more amazed when I discover places like this! However, I see him most clearly in other people when they step up and shine like they did during this experience! About 5 mins after this photo was taken, one of our crew broke his leg near the ankle. Some might ask where God was at that moment, as we still had ~3 miles to go through watery/rocky terrain? He was in the person that showed up with a splint, the friends from Romania, one of whom was medically trained, the friends from Oregon who blew off their one chance to see the Narrows to help us...and so many others, and in the fact that this happened at probably the “best” place along the trail that it could have happened...After many failed experiments of ways to carry him, our Boy Scout and rescue training kicked in and we built a stretcher from felled trees and rope, and began to carry him. We all met God many times along that 3 mile stretch, and despite the difficulty of the experience...seven hours later we were all better for it. As one of the only gospel songs I know says, “God is Great!
