I'm scared that these rumors are starting already
The last thing that anyone should be doing is panicking 2 races into the season over fake ass media headlines written by people who want to lick the shit of Max's arse.
Now from everything I've seen contract related George is optional for 2027, and if George wins the WDC it is very unlikely we see him leave. George has made it clear he's in the sport for the long ride, and if George is still leading the WDC I imagine that it would trigger the option for him to stay for 2027.
Mercedes have always been a little weird when other teams have come sniffing for George, I don't think they want him to go anywhere and they know if he lost his seat, he would find another. They would not like this, no matter what weird parasocial crap you read out there.
Mercedes also have the joy of getting 1-2 with home grown junior drivers, they like to plug this, use this, why would they swap a 1-2 for another 1-2.
Now for Max, if we believe what he's said then he's said he wants to remain with Red Bull, and that he doesn't see himself remaining in F1. Mercedes dropping a driver who would likely stay long term, for a short term just for the fanfare that comes with it only to have to then replace that seat in the near future?
Max also doesn't do all the PR, socials stuff, he expects to be doing a lot outside of F1, that would mean all that weight would fall onto Kimi. I don't think they would want this for Kimi when they want him to be the next big thing.
Now, all this doesn't mean it won't happen, it could happen, but freaking out 2 races in is just not healthy for anyone.
