[friday, dinner at heeseung‘s house]
heeseung was sitting at the dinner table, impatiently waiting for the guests to arrive while his tie was clenched tight enough that he could feel his own pulse thudding against his collar. the house smelt like expensive candles and freshly grilled meat. his mother was setting up the table while his dad was checking himself out in the small mirror in the hallway. heedo was so lucky he had to work, heeseung would have done everything instead of being here today. as soon as the bell rang, his dad sprinted toward the door.
”stand straight.“ heeseung‘s mother demanded with a serious expression before walking toward the door with a fake smile on her face like a broken mechanical toy. he didn‘t reply, he just mirrored her and followed her.
”oh my, look who we have here.” iseul‘s dad, taesan, stated. unfortunately, heeseung liked him too much to keep up with his frown, making him grin from ear to ear. ”you‘ve grown.“ he stated while pulling heeseung in for a hug.
”you don‘t look so bad yourself.“ heeseung awkwardly joked. he nicely hugged iseul‘s mother but only gave iseul a handshake while avoiding any type of eye contact.
”it‘s been a while.” heeseung‘s mother said while standing behind him, her hand placed on his back. ”he didn‘t even tell us you guys were back.“ her statement sounded so passive-aggressive that it made heeseung roll his eyes on the inside.
the dinner dragged on, feeling like hours instead of minutes. every time heeseung tried to steer the conversation toward something neutral, his father would pivot back to iseul, asking her questions about her grades, dreams and even her future.
iseul on the other hand, who was sitting next to him, kept reaching for the stuff out of reach just so she could accidentally touch his hands or brush her shoulder against his.
”you‘re so quiet tonight, hee.“ she whispered, leaning in closer. her perfume, an intense floral scent, invaded his space. she tilted her head, her eyes wide and soft, playing the role of the concerned childhood friend perfectly. to his parents, she looked like she was offering comfort. to heeseung… well. he didn't even look at her. instead, he took a sip of his water, feeling the cold glass against his lips. she gently placed her hand on his arm.
”you know, if you ever need-“ he shrugged his shoulder back, finally looking at her.
”you‘re not helping.“ he murmured, his voice cold. her smile faltered.
”is everything alright?“ heeseung’s mother asked, her eyes sharp. ”you two used to be so talkative and close. don‘t tell me you‘ve forgotten how to be friends?“
heeseung felt his chest tighten. he looked at the fork on his plate, then at his father, who was watching him with an expectant look.
”friendship takes two people who actually respect each other's boundaries, mom.” he said, his words spilling out before he could second-guess them.
his father let out a dry dismissive chuckle, placing his wine glass down. ”boundaries? you're being dramatic. she‘s practically family. we were just discussing how beneficial it would be for you two to settle for something long term. i mean, you guys dated once.“ he smirked at taesan. ”it‘s an opportunity most boys your age would kill for.“
”he doesn't mean it like that. he’s just been under a lot of pressure lately. i’m happy to help him through it. we've always been a team, haven't we?“ iseul gently maintained, acting like she was being helpful in any way whatsoever.
to heeseung, the room felt like it was shrinking. the scent of the wine and heavy food was making him nauseous and the sound of his father talking about possibly dating iseul made him feel like he was about to throw up, right there and right now. he just nodded in response and pulled out his phone under the table.
[🐺: help]
[🐺: they‘re talking ab me and iseul dating]
[you: hello to you too! 😅]
[you: it‘s okay hee]
[you: it‘ll be over soon]
[you: whatchu guys eating??]
[🐺: seriously i just told u they want us to date]
[🐺: grilled meat tho]
[you: ignorance is bliss]
[you: enjoy ur meal loser]
[🐺: damn alr]
iseul had been watching his hands for minutes, her jaw tight. she knew he wasn't checking the time. she knew he was texting with someone.
it was time for dessert and heeseung‘s father recommended eating it in the living room, a more comfortable and cozy space. now heeseung didn’t have to sit that close to iseul anymore.
”one for you,“ heeseung‘s mother spoke out, handing him a piece of pecan pie. ”and one for the pretty lady next to him.“ she smiled while giving iseul a wink. she just awkwardly smiled in return and looked at heeseung, waiting for any type of reaction. matter of fact, he didn’t even notice. he was looking at his phone again.
[🐺: do u like pecan pie?]
[you: ARE U KIDDING]
[you: that’s my fav flavor]
[you: ughhhh don‘t tell me ur mom made it]
[🐺: you‘re not gonna believe what i‘m ab to say]
[you: fuck you seriously]
as he read your reply, a genuine and soft smile broke across his face. it was the only real thing he felt all night. iseul caught it and her face darkened.
"i didn't realize you two were getting this serious.“ iseul announced, loud enough to cut through the room. "you haven't looked up from your phone all night."
the room went dead silent. the parents stopped their conversation. heeseung’s mother froze, her teacup hovering in the air. his father looked at him, his face tightening with a mix of fury and embarrassment.
taesan chuckled out loud, breaking the silence. ”congrats buddy. you should have told us. we were planning your guys’s future already.“ he said, reaching for heeseung‘s shoulder from a distance. he didn't expect him to react that way.
"she‘s joking, taesan.“ his father growled, reaching out his hand to demand the phone. "we aren't going to let a short-term fling ruin our plans."
heeseung gripped the phone, shaking his head.
”phone.” his father demanded once again with a low voice.
heeseung exhaled sharply and leaned toward iseul. ”fuck you.” he whispered, before tossing the phone onto the table and standing up. he left the pie untouched, his appetite long gone.
"where are you going?" his father snapped.
"why do you care?" he snapped back, turning his back on them.
he escaped to his room and threw himself onto the bed. he stared at the ceiling, listening to the muffled sound of the house. then, the door opened without a knock. iseul walked in, invading his space while touching his things.
"why?" he asked, his voice cracking. "how did that benefit you?"
"she doesn't know you, heeseung. not like i do.” she said, sitting on the edge of his bed. "she‘s just a distraction.”
"you‘re so full of yourself," he spat.
his mother suddenly entered, the box of pie in her hands. she set it on his table with a forced smile. "didn‘t mean to interrupt. take this home with you, sweetheart.” iseul thanked her and once she left, the silence was suffocating.
"see? would they ever treat y/n like that?" iseul challenged.
"just because we slept together doesn't mean you’re the love of my life.” he said, avoiding her eyes. "everyone hates you, iseul. i was just stupid enough to realize it too late."
she laughed out loud "oh but she is? a random girl from school? at least we have history.”
"our history means nothing to me. you mean nothing to me." he snapped.
”you don’t mean that, hee,” she reached out her hand to touch his knee. ”we-” before she could continue, he jumped off the bed at the feeling of her touch, interrupting her speech.
”the kiss wasn’t enough?“ he scoffed. ”get the fuck out of my room.” he looked around the room and grabbed the box of pie. ”you’re getting fat anyway." it was cruel and he didn’t mean it, but he had to get under her skin somehow.
she just left out a slight gasp and rushed to follow him march back into the living room. iseul was mumbling something after having but he ignored her.
he marched back into the living room, grabbing his phone from beside his father. iseul stopped at the door, not completely entering the living room but observing what’s happening.
"what is wrong with your manners lately?" his dad demanded. "sit down."
"i‘m sick of all of your bullshit.” heeseung declared. his dad chuckled, a degrading sound, until he saw the car keys in heeseung‘s hand.
"don‘t you dare!” his father warned, standing up, but heeseung didn't hesitate.
he rushed past iseul, his shoulder slamming against hers while walking to the entrance. before he slammed the door, he looked back one last time, a smirk forming on his face.
"iseul has a girlfriend, by the way.” he didn’t wait for the fallout. once he slammed the door shut, he chuckled at his own corny behavior. but once he felt the cold night air hit his face, he felt free. alive. a feeling he has never felt before. his body was reeking of adrenaline so he started the car and took out his phone.
[🐺: 15 minutes]
[you: are they finally leaving??]
[you: call me after]
[🐺: are ur parents home]
[you: uhh no they‘re at my grandma‘s]
[you: why]
[you: ????]
you didn‘t think much of his messages. while you were texting with him once in a while, waiting for updates, you were mostly doomscrolling on your bed, enjoying the intoxicating silence of being home alone. the freedom of an empty house was your favorite escape, a place where you didn’t have to be anyone doing anything for anyone.
the sudden glare of headlights cutting through the darkness of your quiet street made you jump. a car pulled up, not into the driveway, but directly to the curb. your heart hammered against your ribs, a spike of genuine fear in the quiet of the night, until the side door flew open. you leaned toward the window, your breath hitching, but the moment you saw the heeseung’s familiar silhouette, your shoulders finally dropped. you were sprinting downstairs before the first knock even happened.
you threw the door open, a playful smile already placed on your lips. ”what happened? was the dinner so boring you-” before you could finish, he kissed you like a starving man, while closing the door behind him. his hands gripped your waist so hard, his fingers dug into your skin.
he pulled back, his chest heaving against yours. he held up a box with a smirk. ”pecan pie?“
your smile widened, bright and genuine. ”did my boyfriend just show up at my door in a sexy blouse with my favorite cake? am i dreaming?“
heeseung raised his eyebrow in response, his gaze shifting to your lips. ”boyfriend?“ he repeated. he set the pie aside on the entryway table, his eyes never leaving yours. you wrapped your arms around his neck, pulling him down and you smirked, kissing him softly in response.
you didn't make it any further than the living room. you settled onto his lap, his hands sliding up to your hips, anchoring you to him with a grip that guaranteed bruising. he was hypnotized by the taste of your lips and how they felt on his neck, his breath hitching as he felt his own goosebumps taking over his body. he was desperate. this moment was the one he had been replaying in his head for hours whenever he went to bed.
suddenly, the silence was shattered. his phone, lying on the table, began to vibrate. the screen lit up with at least 3 missed calls from both his parents.
heeseung didn't even look at it. he froze for a second, his jaw tightening, before he let out a low chuckle. he looked up at you and reached out to press his palm against your cheek, his thumb tracing your jawline with surprising tenderness.
"ignore them," he whispered. you smirked and took off your top, throwing it on his phone in a playful way.
you wanted to help him take his tie off but he was distracted by kissing your chest, making you giggle on top of him. ”let me help you.“ you softly meant. he just hummed in agreement but didn’t pull back. the heat and the excitement made both your cheeks heat up, slightly making you shake at every touch. he didn‘t want to talk. he wanted to lose himself in the rhythm of your breathing, the sound of your needy giggles and the feeling of you touching his skin.
he moved his hands to the buttons of his shirt, rushing to take it off while his eyes never left yours. he wanted you to see every layer coming off, until there was nothing left his true self. he was desperate to be claimed, to have you overwrite every expectation his family had ever placed on his shoulders.
with one hand, he took off your bra in an instant, the sudden cold air and the feeling of being exposed making your body shiver. he watched you, his gaze darkening while he licked his lips at the sight. “lay down.“ he commanded with a low voice. you obeyed instantly, your breath hitching as he hovered over you.
he mapped your body with his lips, trailing kisses from your collarbones down to your ribs, until he reached the sensitive skin of your thighs and stopped at your core. he straightened up and unlatched his belt while looking at you. a shared, knowing smirk passed between you. it was the realization that you officially belonged to each other.
he returned to you, his grip firm and possessive as he held your thighs, his fingers digging in slightly. he stripped away your shorts and panties in one motion, eager to finally taste you.
when he finally pressed a soft kiss on your clit, you gasped, head falling back against the couch as you bit your hand to stifle the sound.
you looked down, your fingers tangling into his hair, pulling him closer. ”fuck-“ you moaned out. your amusement only fueled him. he was so consumed by the sound of your pleasure that he let out a whimper himself.
he slid two fingers inside. as he dove deeper, alternating between the pressure of his fingers and the heat of his mouth, the world began to blur at the edges. you were gripping the couch. ”you taste so good.” he sloppily stated.
”i’m about to-“ you started but he shushed you up. he knew exactly what you needed. he placed one hand on your stomach, slightly pressing on it, while the other held your thigh in an tight grip. it was an explosion, one that forced a sound from your throat you didn‘t even know you could make. he was obsessed with the way you sounded.
he moved up, pressing a kiss to your lips, forcing you to taste yourself. your hands dropped to his waistline, eager to return the favor but he caught your wrists, pulling back just enough to look down at you. he gave a soft smile, his voice trembling with desire. ”no. no more. i need to fuck you.“
he positioned himself and as he pushed inside, the friction and tje overwhelming fullness made him let out a needy whimper. ”you feel so fucking good-”
”please, hee- harder,“ you pleaded, your nails digging into his back. he didn't hesitate, his movements becoming more aggressive.
”harder?" he gasped, his voice suddenly low. he shifted his grip, his hands moving from your thighs to your waist, pulling you into him so tightly there wasn't any space between you. each thrust was deeper and more urgent, as if he was trying to bury himself in you.
he moved one of his hands from your waist to your hair, gripping it firmly to tilt your head back, forcing you to look at him. ”look at me.” he demanded, his voice cracking under the strain of his own pleasure. ”tell me you’re not letting anyone else have this. tell me i‘m the only one.“ his eyes were wild and unmasked. the demand was almost desperate.
you bucked against him, your cries filling the quiet room. you nodded but that wasn‘t enough for him. he responded by pinning your hands above your head, his weight pressing you deeper into the couch. “use your words, pretty.“
“yes- fuck, hee. you’re the only one-” you cried out.
”you‘re so loud.” he whimpered, placing a hungry and silencing kiss on your lips. he was teetering on the edge, his entire body trembling with the massive effort of holding back. he pulled his head back just enough to watch you, his gaze locked onto yours.
”hee- i’m- i’m close.“ you choked out, your nails digging into the couch.
”then go,” he commanded, his voice a ragged growl. ”i‘ve got you.”
he surged forward one last time, thrusting deep while letting out a final moan. he collapsed against you, his chest heaving and his face buried in the crook of your neck. your body was shaking. for a small moment, the only sound in the room was the one of your combined breathing.
”i don't think i can go back to that house.” he joked to vreak rhe silence, his voice still rough. ”ever.“
you reached up, your fingers lingering as you brushed the hair away from his eyes. ”stay the night.“
he let out a short laugh, pulling you closer. you didn’t laugh back, the seriousness of the gesture hitting you both. he pulled back slightly, his eyebrow furrowing. ”wait, really? what about your parents?”
“they‘re not coming back until tomorrow. even if they do, it’s worth the risk.” you leaned in, caressing his cheek with your hand, your skin still flushed.
he pressed a soft kiss on your shoulder before moving to put on his pants. he walked off into the hallway and returned holding the box of pecan pie.
”seriously? is this your way of aftercare?“ you joked, a genuine smile breaking through. you found it incredibly sweet that even if you were in the middle of this life-altering night, he was still focused on the pie just because he knew it was your favorite.
he sat down next to you, opening the box dramatically. ”we don‘t need a fork. well- i hope we don‘t.” he teased, his eyes flickering back to yours.
the silence that followed was less heavy, draped in the dim light of the living room. sharing the pie in the quiet felt intimate in a way that surprised you.
after eating, you gently tugged on his arm, nodding toward the hallway. ”come on. let‘s shower and sleep. it‘s late.“
he stood up and reached for your hand, his fingers intertwining with yours. as you walked toward the hallway, he stopped, pulling you back just an inch so you were pressed against his side.
”you know.” he murmured. ”not to be corny but.. for the first time in my life, i don't care what happens tomorrow. or the day after. just because i know i have you.“
you softly giggled, adjusting your position so you can face him completely. ”damn, was the sex that good?” you joked.
“might have been.“ he replied, teasing you back.
“me too, hee.“ you simply replied and placed a kiss on his cheek.

[next day at school, y/n‘s pov]
the hallway was unusually silent and your head was pounding like crazy. not only could you feel a migraine form, the test you just had was so draining you just wanted to get to class, collapse into your seat and daydream until the bell rang.
before you could even reach for the door handle of your classroom, a hand shot out and clamped around your wrist. a gasp escaped your mouth but your frown disappeared immediately at the familiar sight.
"let’s leave.“ heeseung whispered, his voice low and urgent. he didn't even wait for an answer, he just pulled you toward the nearest exit.
"are you crazy?" you hissed, stumbling over your own feet while trying to pull your wrist free. he didn't stop walking, he just glanced over his shoulder to look at you. "please.“ he begged. you finally let your hand go limp in his grip. "if we get caught, it‘s on you.“ heeseung nodded and let go.
both of you were moving like ghosts, trying to sneak your way around the courtyard. you didn't stop until you reached the pond at the back of the school property. even if it was technically still near the school, the overgrown brushes ensured you couldn’t be found or overheard.
you sat down on the rotting wooden bench, sitting as stiff as a statue. the silence was suffocating. you sat at opposite ends of the bench staring at the still pond.
heeseung cleared his throat while fidgeting with his rings, twisting them around and around.
"uh, so," he started, eyes glued to his shoes, unable to meet your eyes. "i know it looks like i'm hiding things and i know what people are saying.“
you turned to look at him, unable to say anything at all - whether it was because you couldn’t find the right words to say or you just wanted to see what excuses he could come up with.
he finally looked up, his expression breaking. "it‘s just..“ he scratched his temple, trying to figure out what to say. ”why did you not tell me?“ you interrupted him. “did you think i would judge you?”
heeseung let out a self-deprecating laugh, shaking his head before looking away again. ”no y/n, it‘s just.. it‘s just that before she moved, we were more than just friends.“ he paused. you just let out a dry chuckle, not because it was funny but because this whole situation felt pathetic. “seeing her walk back into my life felt like the floor being ripped out from under me. i was happy she left, you know? everyone was.“ heeseung confessed, his voice slightly cracking.
you stayed silent. the wind rustled the willow branches but you didn't move. "i don’t want to lose you,“ he confessed again, his voice barely audible. "i‘m just terrified that she‘s going to ruin everything again. it‘s not even her fault, really. i‘m just stupid for falling for her act every single time."
in response, you took a sharp breath. "you‘re worried she’ll ruin what you have?" you asked, your voice terrifyingly calm. ”she ruined what she had. ruined the trust of the only person who loved her.“ you stopped, realizing words were spilling out before you could check them, regret hitting you immediately.
heeseung leaned back, scanning your face while trying to comprehend what you just said. ”what do you mean?“ he asked, visibly confused.
”do you remember junseo?“ you asked, waiting for a nod. ”well, she was.. well, is dating iseul.” you gulped, awkwardly playing with the hem of your shirt. heeseung shook his head in disbelief while his mouth slightly parted.
”she would have told me.“ he whispered, mostly to himself. ”she‘s a liar, heeseung! that‘s her thing!“ you stood up, angry at his naivety. ”and tell me, who exactly is she bothering so much that an anonymous stranger is texting me warning me not to fall for your lies?“
heeseung looked hollowed out, as if the air had been sucked out of his lungs. "and you didn't think to mention this earlier?"
"you were too busy spending every second with her!" you snapped, but your voice remained low. the silence that followed felt heavy and final. you stepped closer, looking down at him. the sight of his face alone made you groan. ”fuck, heeseung, i love you," you said, burying your face in your hands. while you were considering the advice of the unknown person, in this moment the words just came out of your mouth without you intending to. "but if you want to fix this, you have to be the one to do it. not me. not anyone else. this is only on you."
heeseung didn’t move. he didn’t reach for you either. he just stared at the pond, his shoulders dropping as if the tension finally snapped his spine.
silence fell and he ran both hands through his hair. ”you're right," he muttered. "you‘re right.“ he urgently mumbled to himself again while standing up, now standing in front of you. “it‘s on me.“ he gulped, looking over your shoulder before looking you in the eyes. “i love you too, y/n. i really love you a lot.“
for about thirty minutes, you just walked around. you guys didn‘t talk a lot but wanted to kill time. the silence on the walk back to school was different than before. it wasn’t just awkward, but it was also heavy with the weight of the truths you finally spilled. heeseung didn't reach for your hand again but he walked closely next to you. you rounded the corner toward the main office, planning to slip back in through the side door. as soon as you both quietly went in, you froze. the principal was standing there and behind him was iseul. she had an innocent look on her face, one that made her look like she was the school’s most dedicated student only some days after arrival.
when she saw you two, her eyes widened a bit. the principal turned to look at you. ”ah, the truants. i was just informed by a student that the two of you were seen exiting the campus unauthorized. is that correct?“ he asked, now facing both of you fully while crossing his arms.
”sir, i just didn’t feel so well and she happened to be around.” heeseung confidently said. you just nodded next to him.
”based on this students observations, it didn’t seem like either of you was feeling bad. i see no reason to keep you from your studies further. detention. one hour after school until friday. starting today. together.” he demanded. only an unintentional and whispered ”please no“ left your mouth. neither of your parents would be proud and you guys knew that.
you felt heeseung’s hand clench into a fist at his side. he didn’t look at the principal. his eyes were locked on iseul. she didn't even look angry, just satisfied. at the same time, you could visibly see she was embarrassed as she knew she might have fucked up and maybe hoped only you would get detention. therefore, she disappeared quietly before any of you could approach her.
the principal turned around and walked back into his office, leaving you guys standing in the hallway. the bell rang, signaling the start of the last two periods before you had to go to detention with heeseung. even saying that feels wrong. it‘s not you like.
“i’m going to kill her.” heeseung muttered sarcastically yet truthfully.
"don‘t.“ you said, catching his arm. "she wanted a reaction. if you go after her, you're giving her exactly what she wants.“
he stopped, the tension in his shoulders easing. he looked at you and pulled you in for a small hug. ”i’m sorry.“ he said before pulling back.
“it‘s okay, heeseung. but promise me you‘re going to tell me everything later.“ he sighed in relief and smiled. ”will do.“

[break time, y/n‘s pov]
15 minute breaks always went by too fast, especially when you had to endure endless lessons of whateverthefuck right after. you were sitting on a bench in the courtyard with your friends, picking at your snacks. yunjin wasn't there yet. it wasn't unusual for her to get caught in conversations with random people but not when you all had a mission, a mission that felt like invading junseo’s privacy. at least it was consented.
you were all getting impatient and your legs were bouncing nervously under the bench. finally, she came sprinting around the corner looking winded. she didn't even say hello. she just shoved her backpack aside and shoved giselle to the side so she could squeeze onto the bench.
”iseul.“ yunjin breathed out, her eyes wide open. "her name is iseul. she’s in my history class."
giselle blinked, clearly confused. “who is?”
yunjin sighed in disbelief. ”the girl heeseung was with.” she explained, catching her breath. “i tried to talk to her and now she already acts like we’re friends.“
you exhaled sharply, looking at her. “what did she say?” you asked, your voice barely a whisper.
“not much. just how she hated her old city.” rei groaned, cutting her off. “the phone!”
you didn’t say a word. you just pulled junseo‘s phone from your pocket and placed it on your lap. as you scrolled, which felt like an eternity due to the sheer amount of photos junseo had on her phone, rei’s hand shot out. ”back up.” she demanded. she let out a nervous laugh, ”holy shit isn’t that her?“ she snatched the phone, showing it around. “stop moving.“ you hissed, trying to get a closer look. your heart was beating way too fast. “it can’t be.“ was all you managed to get out.
”i’m confused. so she’s dating junseo? she likes girls? isn't that good for us?” minji asked, raising an eyebrow.
“uh, i don’t.. i don’t really think so,“ you gulped, looking at your friends. ”do you think heeseung and iseul dated?“ they went quiet and the soft wind suddenly felt colder. they couldn't possibly know, but saying no felt like a massive lie.
”what about the anonymous messages you got?“ yunjin asked, her tone suddenly becoming serious. ”didn't they say not to believe the ’just friends’ act?“
giselle chuckled loudly. ”why does this bullshit always gotta happen to y/n?”
you dramatically shrugged your shoulders. ”who would even text me? why would someone try to snitch on him?” yunjin leaned closer and looked toward the entrance. you followed her gaze. before she could answer you, the glass doors of the cafeteria across the courtyard swung open. heeseung stepped out and a second later, iseul followed him while clinging to his arm.
”perfect timing.” yunjin laughed. heeseung‘s gaze automatically wandered toward you and his smile faded. you immediately turned your head back toward your friends.

[sunday morning, y/n’s pov]
everything happened way too fast. the ride to gapyeong was hell as there barely was any wifi. you were sitting in your new temporary room, the one you were supposed to calmingly sleep in for the next three weeks. one moment you were in the bathroom with heeseung and in the next you were someone in the deep forests of god knows where. sigh. the academy itself looked like a prison for the wealthy.
day 1
getting woken up by a buzzer, one blaring through the speakers instead of your own phone, was easily in the top five worst feeling of all time - the cherry on top being that it’s also fucking 6:30 in the morning. something even worse being the fact you had to officially give away your phone away the night before and are only allowed to use it at 8 pm, exactly an half hour max. once you were awake, there were no notifications to check. your thumb kept instinctively swiping at your empty palm until you got hit by reality.
the food? nutritious but fucking tasteless. you had to go through a four hour math class just to sit in a cafeteria afterwards where the food was disgusting and where you were supposed to socialize with people of your kind - not so fun when the "kind“ you apparently were was a persona that was forced onto you. sitting there, barely touching your food and daydreaming about your loud, messy school was something you never expected to happen.
after studying for the whole day and trying to enjoy your time on the empty and supposedly “fun“ grounds of the academy, you just wanted your phone. you didn’t even want to approach anyone either. you just wanted to leave. you were finally allowed to pick up your phone and walked, well sprinted, toward your room. every single second counted now. the bed wasn‘t the most comfortable either, so you just impatiently sat on the edge of the bed. the wifi was horrific. it worked but barely. it was so slow it wasn’t even worth using. they have to be doing this on purpose.
day 2
during another mandatory four-hour math block, you found yourself accidentally laughing out loud because of your own daydreams, not realizing that everyone was looking at you in complete silence. you only noticed once the teacher stood in front of your desk, arms crossed over his chest. ”y/n, right?“ he asked, looking like he hadn‘t smiled since 1995. you nodded. he simply raised his eyebrow, unsatisfied with your response. you immediately cleared your throat and looked up at him: “yes, sir.“ you corrected. that fucker really docked 15 minutes of my phone time for the entire week just for laughing? i‘m going crazy.
the rest of the day was spent in the library, a room so quiet you could hear the blood rushing in your ears. you barely were able to concentrate on whatever you were reading, you started sketching instead. to be exact, drawing a wolf. a wolf you had to frantically scribble over once a proctor walked by.
day 3
your head was foggy and you were burnt out after barely three days, sitting against a tree on the academy‘s ground. your head was leaned against the tree and you were fighting the urge to cry. a shaky exhale left your mouth as you played with the stick, trying to crave stuff into the ground. you thought it‘d be funny to crave the initial ”h“ onto the ground when you suddenly got interrupted by someone mid-carving. ”hey.“ a girl spoke softly, smiling but visibly nervous. it was someone from your math class. ”hey.“ you replied, curious about what she wanted. she sat down next to you, fidgeting with her hair tie. ”hope i‘m not disturbing.“ she shyly said. you looked at her from the side and gave her a soft smile and shook your head. “whose initial is that?“ she gently asked, pointing at your creation with her head. “oh,“ you tried to brush away the carving but it didn’t work. “i don‘t- i‘m not sure.“ you replied honestly. ”it‘s fine, you don‘t have to tell me.“ she reassured you. ”junseo.“ “y/n.”
”exactly why i‘m here too!“ her shyness completely disappeared by now. “but i‘ve been here for a week already.“ she added with a playful pout. “how do you survive it here? no, actually. this is day three and i lost any sense of reality,“ you giggled. “especially with the stupid wifi here. i can barely use it.“ after hearing what you said, junseo looked around to make sure no one was around. she then leaned in closer, her playful pout turning into a mischievous smirk. ”the wifi is a trap.“ she whispered. “they throttle it on purpose so you get frustrated and study or whatever these freaks do, it must be on purpose.“ she joked. you groaned out, burying your face in your palms in frustration. ”they don‘t check phones they don‘t know about though.“ you frowned, your heart skipping a beat. ”huh?”
minutes later you found yourself in junseo‘s room. considering she had been here longer than you, her room looked way too clean. she either has ocd or i‘m just messy. ”the cleaner your room is, the less they suspect.“ she said confidently while pulling a chair toward her closet, standing on it to reach the top. ”they might have my real phone but my parents forgot i still have my old phone,“ she climbed down carefully. “i spent the whole night before i arrived downloading online maps and setting up private hotspot apps. it doesn’t run on their network and as slow, but-” she paused and showed you the device. ”it was worth it.“ you were unsure of what to say. she seemed like a completely different person than from some minutes ago. you took the phone into your hands, looking at it as if it was a holy relic. the thought of being able to message your friends and heeseung properly made your saliva thicken with anticipation. “that‘s so- wow, how did you do that?” you shook your head in disbelief. ”hey, i‘m not showing you this for no reason.“ you looked up at her, visibly confused. “when i saw you carve the initial earlier, i felt really bad. i can only relate. maybe not in the same way as you but..“ she took a deep breath, her playful energy flickering for a second. “when my mom found out that i‘m into girls she took my phone away for days and i couldn‘t text her. it made me lose my mind so-“ before she could finish, you pulled her in for a gentle hug. “i‘m so sorry.“ a small but genuine smile formed on her face. ”it‘s fine. but if you ever need my phone, just let me know. but only when you really need it.“ you groaned out once again, this time in a happy and relieved way.
day 4-7
during these days, you spent less time feeling lonely and sad. junseo was there to accompany you everywhere and you guys told each other plenty of secrets and it did feel nice meeting more people like you. not thinking about your own problems and whatever goes on at home felt good too. junseo‘s jokes, her ability to teach you stuff and her playfulness made you want to keep contact with her even after all this was.. done. you barely used your own phone, only to call back your mom, which the wifi barely allowed you to do. you managed to text your friends singular messages once every lightyear, just to disappear from earth after again. you barely were able to see any messages heeseung sent you so you thought he didn’t send you any at all. even if you would have been able to talk to him, you wanted to hear him. call him. for a while, you tried to push that thought away. junseo said only when i really need it. come on, y/n. i can do it.
other than that these days were spent studying intensely. memorizing flash cards in the middle of the night because you couldn‘t sleep and having to wake up soon after wasn’t for the weak. the words on your flashcards started to blur together after a while and you found yourself crying, not because you miss home but because you literally can’t remember the difference between two economic theories. this might be worse than jake‘s tutoring lessons.
at night, you‘d hear the proctors walking around, patrolling the halls with flash nights. on the other hand, it made you feel less alive and made you remember that the outside world was still moving while you felt stuck.
day 8
only the beginning of week two and it already felt like a whole decade had passed. you didn’t feel any smarter, only more desperate going back to the place you used to dread. once the realization hit you that this was junseo‘s last week at the academy, you thought it‘d be a good idea to use her phone for the first time.
after you took it, you were laying on your bed, looking at her phone. you didn‘t want to intrude her privacy so you just immediately went on instagram, trying to find heeseung‘s account.
[junseo.park] hey hee it‘s me y/n
can he reply faster. please please please.
[l.heeseung] y/n? are you good? who is junseo?
[junseo.park] can u call?
[l.heeseung] how do i even know this is actually u
[junseo.park] seriously
[junseo.park] 🐺🐺🙂↔️🙂↔️🐺
Incoming call from l.heeseung . . .
”oh wow.“ was all he managed to say, followed by a surprised and awkward giggle. ”i really miss you.“ he added, his voice suddenly turning serious. those words alone made you slightly tear up. ”i really, really miss you too, hee. everyone.“ your voice slightly cracking. “hey, now that you have her phone you can call whenever, right?“ he asked you, sounding sad himself. you hummed in disagreement. ”she said only when i really need to.“ he playfully gasped, trying to cheer you up. ”and you don‘t really need me everyday? ouch. because i do.“
at least 25 minutes of pure happiness passed when you heard a knock on your door. ”y/n? it‘s me.“ junseo whispered. ”i‘ll call you, hee.“ you said before you turned off the phone. she opened the door and looked at you. “oh- i didn‘t mean to disturb you.“ you giggled and pulled her in by her arm. ”stop saying that, you never disturb me.“ you smiled, handing her the phone.
day 10
your teacher made you guys write a two-hour long exam to test current knowledge. the squeaky shoes of the teacher walking around, looking at the students writing their asses off (while losing some fingers while at it) became a form of psychological torture. you ended up staring at a blank page for 20 minutes, feeling completely hollow.
the academy posted the mid-term rankings on a bulletin board in the main hall. seeing your name near the bottom, because you've been distracted by junseo and your phone, gave you a cold realization that your parents were going to be furious when you got home. apparently other students felt the same as they were weeping in front of the boards. this actually felt like the hunger games but with calculators.
day 13
after all these stressful days, all you could think about was your daily phone call and it immediately boosted your mood. since first hearing heeseung’s voice, you asked to borrow junseo’s phone every single day. you felt embarrassed by it but she just assured you that she understood. this was your last phone call for now as she was leaving tomorrow. you felt guilty for not spending more time with her and asking her for this on the day you were supposed to be with her. to be fair, you didn’t even properly text your real life friends back either.
you were huddled under the thin and scratchy blanket. outside, the wind was howling, making the silence of the building feel even more intense. it was pretty late so you had to be extra quiet.
about 20 minutes into the phone call it suddenly turned silent. you thought that he might had fallen asleep until you heard soft whimpering coming from the phone.
“hee, you good?“ you asked, your voice laced with worry. “fuck-” he quietly whispered, barely audible. you had to put your phone really close to your ear because of the noise, it would have been way too risky if a proctor walked by. every breath heeseung took sounded like it happened right next to you. “y/n-” he softly spoke out with all his might. you just hummed in response. “i need you so bad. so fucking bad-” he said, his voice still quiet. ”what do you mean hee? i‘m right here.“ a small desperate giggle escaped his mouth. “i love when you call me that- fuck.“ once you realized what was going on, you stopped talking and your cheeks started burning up. matter of a fact, your whole body did. ”once you come back,“ he stopped, interrupted by his own moans. “then?“ you teased back, suddenly even more flustered than before. instead of replying, he just let out a confident and dizzy giggle, as if that’d be the answer. ”it‘s hard pretending.“ his choice of words confusing you. ”what is?“ you softly asked. “pretending i‘m not doing this everyday.“ ”stop pretending.“ you chuckled. ”even if it‘s to the thought of you?“
you gulped, unsure of what to respond. “idiot.“ his voice, his choice of words.. his presence alone made your hand find it’s way into your pants as if it was the most natural thing ever. ”y‘know- everyday, i think about when we- when you,“ heeseung could barely form a sentence without getting interrupted by his own quiet and desperate moans. “when you- fuck y/n, please just come back.“ his desperation made your head fall back as you started touching yourself. “keep talking.“ you demanded, a small moan escaping your mouth. ”y/n, you make me crazy.“
day 14
you fell asleep. fuck fuck fuck junseo. you wanted to wake up earlier, even earlier than the weird buzzer demanded, to say bye to your new friend but you totally forgot. i mean how would you know, how could you know without an alarm. speaking of alarms, your eyes widened at the sight of her phone still laying on your bed. fuck fuck fuck. in a hurry, you messily made your bed and put on a random outfit, wanting to see if she’s maybe still somewhere out there. your hand was already placed on the doorknob when you glanced at the floor. a letter?
dear y/n,
i hope this letter reaches you (well, i‘m sliding it under your door. if it doesn’t i‘ll be mad lol) don‘t worry about the phone. just don‘t let them catch you. thank you for making this miserable experience bearable. i really hope we‘ll be able to meet in person once you‘re out. don‘t let the wolves of gapyeong bite you ;)
@ junseo.park on everything
bye <3333
day 15
you walked into the cafeteria and realized you had no one to sit with anymore. you were back to counting every single tomato in your salad, a desperate attempt to distract your mind from the disgusting sauce. however, your thoughts kept drifting back to yesterday’s phone call. it gave you a reason to look forward to going back home but at the same time it made you nervous. it meant actual commitment. actually being with heeseung - the biggest jerk of jerk-hausen aka the loneliest wolf of his pack. now that you still had junseo’s phone, you had to worry less about time. you could talk to him whenever, text your friends and and avoid your parents. you didn‘t even want to use your own phone anymore. at least you had the rest of the days thinking deeply about what the fuck you‘re doing. you spent your lunch hour actually reading your history textbook because without junseo the cafeteria noise was unbearable.
day 16
you were walking back to your room, walking past the proctor’s desk, when he suddenly spoke up. it was 8pm, official phone time, and you were so disinterested in your real phone that even he noticed. ”parents? siblings? you got no one to call?“ he asked, leaning back in his chair, acting like he was protecting real gold. you stopped mid-walking, looking at him. “no thanks.“ you said, forcing a small smile to at least come off as respectful. he scoffed, shaking his head, “lady, don’t lie to me. you hiding something?“ he pointed toward your pockets and your heart plummeted. idiot don‘t stress. the phones not even here. “i‘m not hiding anything, my phone just distracts me from studying.“ shut the fuuuuuuck up. “nice.“ he answered, visibly surprised and impressed by your response.
day 17/18
the silence between these days was deafening. you didn’t call heeseung since that one incident happened and you deeply hoped he didn’t think it was his fault. you could have easily texted him and say, ”no, i‘m not ignoring you because we had phone sex dw” but you knew once you touched that phone, you‘d get distracted and do it all over again. you realized how much you‘ve used him as a crutch to escape the reality of your situation. you needed to prove yourself, maybe even your parents, that you weren’t just a puppet.
you sat in the library for many hours straight, the fluorescent lights humming above you, writing so many notes, too many for your own liking. when you finally looked up, your eyes were stinging but your head felt clear. for the first time, it felt like you weren't studying to please your parents. you were studying because it was the only thing in this weird spooky forest you could actually control. you realized how much you actually liked the feeling of knowing the answer without having to guess.
day 19
once again, the mid-rank progress report was posted in the main hall. you walked up to the board, your heart hammering against your chest. please please please. there it was: y/n l/n - rank 4. you jumped about twelve spots in barely a week.
the same proctor who questioned you last time walked by. he didn't say anything, just gave you a short and respectful nod. you realized that by being "disinterested" in your real phone, you accidentally did exactly what this academy wanted, but on your own terms. even if those terms included phone sex.
day 20
your last day and you wer happier than ever. nonetheless, you were still putting in even more effort in studying. you spent this day in a flow state. therefore, you went into bed with a smile on your face. however, it faded as soon as you looked at your, well junseo‘s, phone. there was no new message from heeseung. is it because i didn‘t reply? he can’t seriously be mad. maybe he thinks i got caught. whatever.. i’ll see him on monday.
day 21
this time, the buzzer didn‘t annoy you. how could it. you packed your bags early with a smile on your face. the only thing that was bugging you was the fact the sun wasn’t shining. it should be - the y/n is leaving the prison for wealthy. as you walked toward the gates, you noticed that the initial you carved into the ground was filled in with dirt and fallen pine needles. your mom was standing by the car. she looked at you, waiting for a complaint, an eye-roll or a tantrum. you gave her nothing. you just handed her your official progress report.
the ride back from gapyeong was different. your mother was talking and talking about stuff but you barely could focus. finally holding your own phone in your hands again felt weird. it felt lighter, colder and smaller. the wifi still won‘t properly work until i‘m home.
about 4 hours later you were finally able to flop onto your own bed. your room smelled so fresh and the sound of all your messages finally arriving and your phone blowing up sounded like music to your ears.

next. previous.
”fuck, he definitely is a good cook.“ yunjin said with a full mouth, basically moaning at the taste of her food. you, yunjin, jungwon, minji and rei were clustered around jungwon‘s dining table. as soon as you guys arrived, yunjin raided the fridge with no shame, claiming how ‘the food better be good' and how it ‘better convince her to stay.‘ jungwon chuckled, though he looked slightly worried about her eating pace. his living room, dining room and kitchen were basically all connected. riki, heeseung and jay were sitting in front of the tv, debating which car and wheels combinations were the most effective ones for a serious round of mario kart. well, a round is an underestimatement. a whole session. it was awkward staying around heeseung but you both managed to ignore each other well so far, sharing some awkward but tense glances here and then. to be fair it has only been maximum 25 minutes. who knows what the noon might bring. sunghoon was sitting on the couch, opening his camera app at least twice every five minutes to make sure him doing basic things like ‘laughing‘ don‘t make him look too chalant. sunoo and giselle were sitting outside on garden chairs, probably gossiping about beomgyu and yeonjun. jake on the other hand wasn‘t even there yet. he promised to hurry after school but he said he had to do something first. though.. jake being late was nothing new. you just hoped he didn‘t actually know anything.
”we‘re not playing rainbow road again. that map genuinely sends me into psychosis.“ jay seriously stated. “fuck you, that‘s the best map. just because you keep falling off it.“ riki snapped back. sunghoon glanced at the dining table: ”jungwon. please buy different light bulbs or something, this lighting is horrific.“ he said while dropping his phone onto the couch. “you‘re just ugly.“ riki teased, making sunghoon kick his back with his foot. then suddenly the front door clicked open. the boy‘s bickering stopped for a second when jake stepped in, hair messy and out of breath, as if he had to run after a bus. he dabbed jungwon up and gave a quick weak smile to everyone at the dining table. before he could dab heeseung up, who was visibly mad and not even paying attention to him at all, riki pulled him down by his shirt and made him sit on the floor: ”take the fucking controller, stop always being late.“ he demanded. jake glanced at heeseung for a second, then back at riki. ”who said i want to-” he couldn‘t even finish his sentence when he felt a controller plop onto his lap. the fact he had to chose baby peach and the worst car and wheels combination as punishment made everyone laugh, besides heeseung.
”ugh my phone died, who else wants to connect?“ all you could hear was the female bluetooth voice disconnecting, making jay groan. ”we can!“ rei yelled out, “well y/n can, i don’t have spotify premium.“ she awkwardly added, snatching your phone from the table. you couldn’t even fight back as the dining chair was slowly making your back hurt. “hmm, what song?“ she whispered, looking at you with your phone in her hand. ”dunno, whatever.“ you replied, taking a sip of your drink. ”woah what’s this mystery playlist and why is the name just a dot?“ she curiously asked, pressing shuffle immediately. you snatched your phone back, nearly spitting your drink out from shock, cheeks heating up while you were quickly trying to chose a different song. those five seconds of this specific intro were enough to make heeseung turn around. ”hee, fucking watch out!” riki yelled, his shoulder bumping against heeseung’s for the billionth time as riki’s character spun out. ”are you kidding me, rei? that‘s the playlist-” you whispered urgently, cutting yourself off when you realized jungwon was still at the table, looking at the two of you with a worried expression. you glanced at him and then back at rei. “with recommended songs by you, don‘t you remember?” you kicked her foot under the table. feeling defeated, all she could manage to do was nod.
after way too many rounds yunjin got tired of watching them and demanded changing the players. riki insisted on staying and forced jake to stay with him, jake unfortunately being his favorite game partner because he’s so bad, riki always wins. jake on the other hand internally begged to quit as he saw heeseung step outside for fresh air. he wanted to tell him so badly but he barely looked at jake. rei was too focused on playing hayday with minji the only option left was you. of course sunghoon doesn’t engage in ‘loser‘ activities like that. hey, at least not against heeseung. you heard the garden door open, looked back and saw heeseung step outside. jay helped the responsible host bring some beer and white wine from his basement. they didn’t bring a lot as it’s just a wednesday afternoon and jungwon knew how his friends loved to lose control. as long as they don’t break his mother‘s favorite vase. ”why does jake look so stressed?“ rei quietly whispered, not even looking at minji while harvesting her virtual wheat. “yea and the way heeseungs is barely talking to him,“ she meant, glancing up at rei, ”you think jake told him?“ rei shook her head. ”bout the kiss? maybe, but the other thing?“ instead of verbally finishing her sentence she just shook her head once again. minji nodded in response when jungwon passed her an open wine bottle. ”ouch, what about me?“ rei asked, throwing her hands up. he slid one closed bottle toward her. “what a gentleman.“ she ironically responded.
”i‘m not playing this shit anymore.“ yunjin yelled out, throwing her controller on the couch, accidentally hitting sunghoon. “how can i not get further than 6th place? how is jake always 2nd? fuck, how does riki always win?“ she dramatically put her hands on the sides of her head. “skill issue, bro.“ riki replied, standing up. ”i‘m not your bro, you cheater!” yunjin mocked him, looking up at him. ”the cheater‘s right behind you.“ he joked, pointing at sunghoon. ”what the fuck dude?“ sunghoon meant, throwing the controller back at riki in defense. you on the other hand leaned back against the couch, took a sip of your drink and watched the pixelated trophy ceremony on the screen. being mediocre wasn‘t the end of the world when you had other stuff to think about.
this was jake‘s chance to escape. he didn't even put his controller down properly, he let it slide onto the carpet as he stood up. he didn't look at the group, just walked toward the garden door.
”and then he literally said he-” sunoo‘s story telling got interrupted by him turning around to see who has joined their secret gossiping cult. ”nah jake you‘re too late, i‘m not going to start from the beginning.“ he stated, turning back to giselle and heeseung. jake didn‘t even reply to sunoo. ”hee, let‘s talk.“ jake‘s voice sounded strained, tired from all the mario kart rounds. heeseung just took a sip of his beer and shrugged his shoulders: ”unless you‘re here to apologize properly i don‘t think we have anything to talk about.“ jake took a step forward. ”it‘s about cloud, heeseung. from unmask. i know who it is.“ he proudly said. heeseung’s entire posture changed. he looked at giselle, embarrassed for even being associated with that app around people he‘s not close to. “what?” he breathed out, his heart hammering against his ribs. jake mouthed something when someone suddenly slammed the garden door open. riki came tumbling out, laughing hysterically while trying to protect his face, followed by a very frustrated sunghoon who was holding a couch cushion. what the fuck. “give it back, you little-” sunghoon yelled, tripping and slamming right into jake. ”jungwon said to call you guys in, he says it’s no fun when everyone’s outside.“ riki said, still laughing, hiding sunghoon‘s phone.
you were trying to act invisible on the couch while your nervous system was going crazy because giselle told you how close jake was to exposing you. you didn‘t want heeseung to know yet. not here. not from jake. you didn’t know where you expected this situation to go either, or what you wanted to happen. all you knew was that you liked heeseung, who was a jerk, who was ignoring you because the other version of you ignored the other version of him. so basically an endless circle or a maze with no exit.
inside the living room, the vibe was tipsy and loud. riki was basically squishing you because of his aggressive manspreading, using his hands way too much when talking, nearly hitting you every time. some of your friends were still sitting at the dining table but heeseung was pacing around the kitchen like a caged animal. you fought for your life to untangle yourself from riki‘s limbs, finally sliding off the couch. you tried to be a ghost and tried to sneak your way around heeseung to get to the fridge. but as soon as you crossed the threshold of the kitchen, his gaze snapped to you. not only did his gaze follow you, his body automatically followed you too. like a baby duck following his mother. when you opened the fridge, you didn’t want to close it anymore. never. just crawl into the coldness and hide next to the cheese. you knew that he was standing there, waiting for you. once you finally pulled your ass together, you took out a water bottle and closed it. and there he was.
”you‘ve been avoiding me all night.” he said. his voice was unusually low and shy, barely audible over the music. heeseung looked visibly nervous, probably the alcohol kicking it. me? avoiding him? you thought. “i‘m not avoiding you, heeseung.” you softly said. you sounded like a kitten trying to stand its ground against a lion, even though he wasn't even raising his voice. ”that’s bullshit, y/n-” before he could finish, you pivoted. you didn't want to do this near the others. you tried to excuse yourself to the bathroom, not even by speaking, just by walking away. instead of letting you go, he followed. the music started to muffle as you moved deeper into the house. you didn’t even know where the damn bathroom was.
“please don’t walk away now, y/n.” he meant, his voice slightly cracking. you were overwhelmed, stressed, unprepared, you name it. you didn't turn around. you were frantically looking for a door, any door that would lead you anywhere at this point. ”i’m trying to be nice to you.” he added. that was the breaking point. you spun around. ”are you kidding me? you were rude to me for years, heeseung, so fucking rude.“ your voice unexpectedly trembling. ”you made me feel like i was a piece of shit and now suddenly i‘m supposed to just play along with your nice act? just because one day you decided that i was pretty enough to like? to play with?“ you gulped, your chest heaving. based on wolf, he did it because he liked you, but in this moment you said stuff you didn’t even know you thought about him, finally being able to get rid of built up resentment. in this moment he wasn’t wolf, he was the person who would have kept hurting you if he never would have met cloud. heeseung flinched at your words, slightly pulling back his shoulders. ”play with you?“ he repeated, his voice barely a whisper. ”fuck y/n, i never- i wasn’t playing, okay?“ he ashamedly looked away. “then what?“ you said, crossing your arms and placing your bottle on the nearest hallway table you saw. ”then fucking what?“ you barely got out with a slightly shaky voice.
”i was a coward.“ he admitted, the words spilling out of him. ”i just.. didn‘t know how to- i didn't think someone like you would ever look at someone like me if i wasn't being an idiot.” he gulped, surprised by his own words. “a coward?” you repeated. ”so you decided that making me feel miserable was better than just... talking to me? do you have any idea how much that sucked? but hey, at least you‘re hot and lent me your earphones, right?“ he felt embarrassed looking at you. he looked vulnerable in a way that hurt your heart. ”i know,“ he exhaled. ”i so know, y/n. but when i‘m not with people, not in this fucking school, when i‘m alone... i think about telling you everything. i tell you things in my head that i‘d never have the guts to say out loud.” he paused, a sad but warm smile forming on his lips. “i told you once, didn't i? that you’re the only thing that feels real in my life?” your breath hitched. no actually, your pulse went to the moon and back. your heart did a little dance in your chest, your saliva thickened. like yes, he told you that. but not you, the other you. and that was the problem.
“wha-” you took a step back but he pulled you closer again by your wrist. ”heeseung-” you gulped again, cheeks heating up. “what do you mean by that?“ you remembered the way jake looked at you once they came back from the garden, guilty and embarrassed, the way heeseung was nervously pacing around the kitchen, the way he finally had the courage to talk to you even though he was falling for cloud because he realized that you‘re the same person. but why did giselle lie? she was there, she would have noticed, right? ” he let go of your wrist as if it burned him. ”i was trying to let it go but every time i looked you y/n, sitting there and avoiding me, i just wanted to rip my skin off.” he confessed, his cheeks burning up as well. “and when i found out that the girl i‘ve liked for years is the same girl who knows everything about me, the one who actually listens,“ heeseung looked straight into your eyes, ”i just-” he sighed out. the silence that followed was heavy. you looked at him, no, really looked at him and all the anger you unconsciously carried around for years started mixing with something else. it was the same feeling you got when you stayed up for hours texting with wolf, going to school with eyebags because someone actually cared about you without even knowing you. you couldn’t be mad at him. “you‘re such an idiot.“ you whispered. ”it hurt seeing the only guy i ever trusted was the guy who has always been a jerk to me. you know, it pissed me off so badly that your nice acts actually worked on me. pissed me off so badly i kissed jake.“ he gulped, his movement stopping. “you knew?“ was all he managed to get out with a slightly shaky voice. he shook his head while closing his eyes, symbolizing you to not say anything. it didn’t matter. ”it‘s not your fault. he shouldn’t have done that. he knew.. he knew what i felt about you.” you playfully poked him in the chest. ”don‘t blame him. he‘s the only reason you had balls to talk to me to-” before you had a chance to defend jake, he leaned in, pulling you into a kiss. his hands naturally found their way to your waist, pulling you even closer. it wasn’t just a kiss. it was a collision of three years of "i hate you" turning into "it was always you.“ he slightly opened his eyes, looking at the door right next to you. he reached out and twisted the handle. well, looks like you guys made it to the bathroom after all. heeseung steered you inside and pushed you against the bathroom door. his hands, usually so steady when he played his stupid video games, were trembling as they found their way under the hem of your top. the top you spent so long choosing, secretly hoping to catch his eyes. you hand was placed on the back at his head, pulling him closer by his hair. your other hand slowly moved to his waistband, playing with it. he broke the kiss and leaned back, looking at you. “y/n..“ he whispered, his voice suddenly sounding like pure desperation and desire. “ssh.“ you shut him up, stepping closer.
“fuck-” was all he managed to get out while you were on your knees. a sight he begged and wished to see for ages. heeseung’s head fell back as a groan escaped his mouth. his grip in your hair tightened slightly trying to force you to stay in place, making the sound of you choking fill the room. you were looking up at him, eyes glassy and begging. “you have no idea," he whispered, “how much i wanted thi-” he started, getting interrupted by his own moan and the sight of your beautiful face, the most beautiful face he has ever seen. “open.“ he demanded, not letting go of your hair, pulling you slightly back. of course you did as he said and opened your mouth, not breaking eye contact. he stroked himself a few more times and watched his own cum fill your mouth, some of it even dripping down your chin. his lips parted at the sight of you standing up, looking so innocent as if you didn‘t just suck him off. you. him.
“where‘s the fucking bathroom-“ was all you could hear from outside. your senses immediately heightened and your eyes widened as you looked at heeseung. “shit-” he hissed, his fingers fumbling as he pulled his pants back up. ”left.. no, right? ugh why are there so many doors.” the voice grew louder, followed by someone violently rattling the door knob. ”oh, sorry! is someone in there? i really, really need to use the bathroom.“ it was a female voice. not just any, it was yunjin. neither of you breathed, let alone responded. you just wiped your mouth with your sleeve and slightly opened the door while heeseung made sure he looked normal. as he took a glance at the mirror, he noticed how flushed his cheeks were. in a way he couldn’t hide, in a way that alcohol couldn‘t be the cause. “sorry, i just- oh.” yunjin started, her surprised expression suddenly turning into a slight smirk after seeing your guys faces. ”you guys.. good?“ she asked one more time before you guys walked out. ”we were just arguing, yunnie. chill.“ you lied, trying to you play it cool. “right. arguing.“ she repeated, crossing her arms like a disney villain. ”funny, usually your arguing is heard through countries but- whatever, i really have to pee.“ she didn’t wait for a rebuttal, urgently slamming the door. you turned around to look at heeseung, who suddenly let out a quiet laugh. ”i‘ll make it up to you, 'kay? don‘t want this to be the last time.“
the whole atmosphere changed once you guys walked back into the living room, both visibly embarrassed for being gone for longer than you should have been. looking at him felt impossible too. it happened way too fast for your own liking. what now? he knows. you know. how would your dynamic change now? all these thoughts were occupying your mind when rei suddenly yelled out: ”there you guys are!“ she quickly glanced toward the hallway. ”ready to leave?“ she asked. ”we’re.. leaving already?“ you stammered. rei let out a sharp laugh, her eyes bouncing between your disheveled state and heeseung’s flushed cheeks. ”yeah, now that it started to get fun, am i right?“ she teased, making you roll your eyes back. ”why is everybody suspecting stuff-“ you whispered when riki suddenly interrupted you by putting his heavy arm around heeseung‘s shoulder, giving him a tipsy mischievous smirk from the side. “cloud and wolf,” he giggled, the start of his speech already alerting something within you and making you fix your posture, “may they live happily ever after.“ heeseung froze, his eyes widened and immediately turned toward jake, who was innocently yet guiltily shrugging his shoulders. “i‘m going to kill you.“

[saturday noon, y/n’s pov]
saturdays usually smelled like fresh laundry and late-night texts from a boy who didn‘t know your face. today it smelled like expensive cologne and the suffocating silence of jake’s bedroom. you just arrived and already felt guilt rushing through your blood system. you traded a wolf for a shark. (quite literally) you walked into the trap simply for the plot. ”we can study on the bed, i‘m sick of chairs.“ he said, plopping onto the mattress. ”uh, sure.“ you replied shyly, sitting cross legged at the edge of his bed.
”you‘re overthinking the covalent bonds again, y/n.“ he murmured, sighing out loud because of you doing the same mistake for the tenth time. your phone kept buzzing in your backpack, vibrating against the floor. “can‘t you turn it off? it‘s distracting.“ he chuckled. it felt awkward reaching for it with jake’s hand settled casually on the mattress just inches from your thigh. you took a deep breath, fished the phone out, and saw plenty messages of wolf, your mom and your friends spamming the group chat. you clicked the silent switch and shoved it back into your bag.
thirty minutes later and you were now laying in his bed, covering your face with his pillow: “if i hear the word 'electron' one more time i‘m actually throwing the book out of the window.“ jake chuckled, finding your reaction adorable. the mood thankfully eased up by now. before you could react, his hand was on the edge of the pillow, tugging it away from your face. ”stop being dramatic, y/n.“ he teased, his voice dropping an octave. you looked up and your breath hitched. he wasn’t sitting up anymore. he was laying on his elbow, hovering only inches above you. jake had a playful smirk on his face but you placed your palm on his chest to keep the inches between you. "my brain is officially fried and no amount of hovering is going to fix it." you said as you slightly pushed him back. he laughed while he flopped onto his back. "tough crowd. i thought i was being helpful.” he sighed, thinking of what to do. ”kitchen.“ jake simply demanded. you looked at him, visibly confused, trying to figure out what he was talking about. ”let’s get snacks. consider it a reward for not failing todays lesson. well, actually you did fail.“ he teasingly said, poking your side. ”oh blow me.“ you replied, rolling your eyes at him. ”well, if you‘re already offering.”
after scavenging through his kitchen looking for snacks, you found your way back to the bedroom. you placed them on the bedside table while he got comfortable, reaching for the remote. he kicked your chemistry book off the bed to make space. the sudden noise startled you and made you look at him. “oh, sorry-“ he looked at you, amused. ”i didn‘t know you wanted to keep studying.“ you gave him a 'be fr' look and moved the book to his desk.
”i‘m not watching that movie. let‘s watch something scarier.“ he said, holding the remote over his head as you tried to reach for it. “if you want something scary,” you panted, out of breath from fighting for the remote. “then you‘ll leave, blabla. this is the fifth time you‘re saying that.“ he finished your sentence for you. ”i thought you had better taste than this, y/n. first heeseung, now this weird movie.“ he purposely teased, waiting for your reaction. you managed to snatch the remote and awkwardly put your hair behind your ear, eyes focused on the tv. why does he have to mention heeseung?
half way through the movie jake suddenly grabbed the remote and turned off the tv. ”what? why?” you asked, your laugh sounding a little too airy and a little too forced even to your own ears. he didn't laugh back. he leaned on his elbow again, now facing you. ”because you‘re not actually watching it. you‘re just staring at the screen. i didn‘t invite you to do that.“ his eyes never leaving yours. “to be fair i thought the whole point was tutoring.“ you countered, “covalent bonds? remember?” you awkwardly joked. he sat up properly now, crossing his legs so he was facing you fully. “you‘ve been here for what, two hours now, and you don’t seem like you’ve relaxed at least once.“ you opened your mouth to argue, but he put his hand on your knee to shut you up. ”is it because of what i said? about heeseung?” he asked, his fingers slightly caressing your knee. “no.“ you whispered. it was partially a lie. it wasn't just heeseung. it was the fact that while jake was sitting here, smelling like the best perfume you‘ve ever smelt and looking at you like you were the best thing he has ever seen, your mind kept wandering toward your phone. “good.” he said, moving his hand from your knee to your thigh. “because he isn't here. you know, it just feels like you refuse to look at me for more than three seconds.” he slightly giggled, his eyes still not leaving yours. “well, i‘m looking at you now.“ you challenged, your heart screaming 'let me out!!' by the way it was beating. ”are you?“ he smirked, slightly licking his lower lip. ”you‘re so annoying.” you giggled, the words barely escaping your throat. you teasingly slapped his hand to get it off your thigh. instead of removing it, he simply moved it to the side of your neck. the guilt, the "plot” or whatever it was you were trying to do, it all blurred into the background. when he finally leaned in, his lips met yours. as the kiss deepened, as you felt his other hand pull you closer by your thigh, the regret hit you like a bucket of ice water. this wasn't wolf. this wasn't the boy who sent you sunset photos and told you his worries. this was jake. his fucking best friend. you pulled back, your chest heaving, the air in the room suddenly feeling too thick to breathe. his eyes were dark, a mix of triumph and confusion as he watched you scramble for your bag. “i’m sorry jake, i-i don’t think it’s the right thing to do.“ you stammered, not looking at him. “y/n? what happened?” you didn't reply. before you left his bedroom you looked at him one more time. ”thanks, for um, everything.“ as you were walking out, the air from outside felt like it was ripping apart your lungs.
[lunch time, y/n‘s pov]
monday lunch time felt like a fever dream. not the cute kind when you‘re at a concert, but the kind where you‘re naked in front of the whole class and for some reason your teacher is a giant hamster. “ugh, just look at him.“ gigi hissed, her eyes locked on yeonjun, who looked way to happy considering he just went through a breakup. “wish me luck!“ she winked at you, standing up and tossing her hair back like she was in a commercial. she marched toward his table while you all watched, so focused you forgot to breathe. she didn't even say hi. she just slid into the seat next to him and leaned super close. yeonjun looked confused for like two seconds before he smirked and wrapped his arm around her, leaning back like he’d been waiting for her all day. damn it, is everyone at this school a man-whore? gigi was yapping so fast her mouth was a blur, probably telling him some random story to keep his attention. meanwhile, your own life was decomposing. you felt a shadow fall over the table and you didn't even have to look up to know it was jake. he didn't even ask to sit. does no one just.. ask anymore? he just squeezed in next to you, his thigh pressing against yours like saturday never happened. yunjin accidentally choked on her water at the sight of him. ”hey pretty.“ he softly said. you tried to look busy with your salad and only gave him an awkward smile. he just looked at you from the side, resting his chin on his hand, waiting. you knew his friends were watching from their usual table. you could feel their eyes burning into your back and you wanted to evaporate. ”look jake,“ you sighed, finally turning toward him. ”i told you. saturday was a mistake. a big mistake.“ instead of giving up, he just laughed. the type of laugh that usually makes girls melt, but right now it just made you want to jump into a trash can. “you don't know me well enough if you think i take no for an answer, y/n. library today, 'kay? be there or i‘ll find you in the middle of class.“ he stood up, casually squeezing your cheek before walking away. you looked at rei, hoping for some kind of backup but she was useless. she was too busy recording gigi and yeonjun. suddenly, there was a loud crash. giselle accidentally knocked yeonjun’s entire tray into his lap. he was covered in spaghetti and mystery sauce. the whole cafeteria went dead silent until suddenly yeonjun‘s ex-girlfriend let out a loud laugh. it was a chain reaction. the whole room was roaring. gigi froze. she panicked, grabbing napkins and frantically trying to help him clean up. ”s-sorry, i didn‘t mean to.” she stammered. he just giggled, looking down at the mess and placed a hand on her shoulder to calm her down. ”it‘s fine, gigi, reall-” ”gigi, stop touching his crouch!“ yunjin yelled across the room. you dropped your head onto the table, shaking with laughter. too much was happening. ”fuck yes i got it all on cam.“ rei celebrated.
[library after school, y/n‘s pov]
as wished, you were sitting in the library, in the usual spot you and jake sit in. you had a pounding headache and definitely didn‘t want to be there. jake on the other hand genuinely looked like he was having the time of his life. acting all smart probably fed his ego. the lessons were fun, they did help after all but lately you couldn‘t focus to save your life. he was sitting next to you, explaining something with his hands. your elbow was on the table, your chin resting on your hand. your gaze kept shifting to your phone, which was laying right next to your notebook. he stopped for a second, his sentence trailing off as he looked around to find his backpack. it was laying on the floor, leaning against your chair. ”hey, could you give me the book in my backpack?“ he asked nicely, pointing toward the floor. you hummed in response and leaned down to reach for the heavy bag. just as your fingers brushed the zipper, your screen had lit up. you didn‘t notice and even if it lit up, what about it?
[🐺: lol]
[🐺: did u see the spaghetti incident]
[🐺: wait i hope texting less didn‘t mean not texting at all]
[🐺: right?]
“wha-” he mumbled. he stayed frozen, staring at your screen. you slowly sat back up, placing the book on the table and looking at him. ”you good?“ your raised your eyebrow. everything started to make sense in his head. heeseung had been obsessed with this cloud girl for weeks. heeseung clearly was wolf. and you... you were cloud. does she know it’s him? does he know? nah, if he’d know i’d know. if she knows, is she using me? it wasn't even that he cared you might have been using him to get at heeseung. and kissing you…he didn‘t regret that. he'd do it again. it was the fact he accidentally fucked up by kissing you just for it to turn out that you‘re the other person heeseung cared about as well. like, double-fucked up. how could he go to bed without telling heeseung what he just found out. maybe it’s a coincidence? many people use this app, right? he can‘t be the only one with the wolf emoji, he thought. ”y/n...“ he whispered, his voice still airy but he was holding in an awkward chuckle. ”i think you were right. about saturday.“ his sudden change of motive surprised you. “why so?“ you exhaled. thank god. before you could even blink, jake stood up, his chair screeching against the floor. as he was packing his stuff he was avoiding your eyes. he slung his backpack over his shoulder. “y/n, you‘re cooler than i thought. and fuck, you‘re hot too but,“ he stopped for a second, trying to think of what to say. ”dunno, this just really was a mistake. if you actually need help with chem just text me, but for now uh..“ he ran out of words. you gave him a soft smile. “it’s fine jake. thanks. see you around.“ you waved at him while he walked away. this might have been the best day of your week. jake turned around to face you one more time: ”don’t let the wolves bite you!“ his own words making himself giggle. don’t let the wolves bite you? you were putting one and one together and looked around. then, you looked at your phone when you saw wolf‘s messages. ”shit.“

[at the library, y/n‘s pov]
the library was quiet but pretty full, like it always was after school. jake and you were sitting at one of the back tables, away from the main aisles. at first he was surprisingly helpful. he laid out his notes which were actually neat and started explaining the periodic table like he actually knew what he was talking about. ”look, it‘s really not that deep y/n. electronegativity increases as you go up and to the right. i don‘t understand how you always mix it up in class.“ he whispered confidently as if he didn’t memorize this just before you arrived. you leaned in, staring at the scribbles, trying to focus while his sleeve brushed against yours. for twenty minutes, it was actually just chemistry. then, you were struggling with a specific equation and jake leaned over to see where you went wrong. he put his hand over yours to move the pen. ”not there, pretty. you forgot to balance the uhm, charges, right, the charges.“ he murmured. he didn't pull his hand back immediately. instead, he looked at you from the side. his glasses kept sliding slightly down his nose. a man-whore dressed as a nerd. who is he trying to kid? you thought. ”i think i like this view better than the back of your head in class.“ he confessed, smirking at you. ”how many girls have you said this to?“ you playfully replied back. ”my first time being a tutor.“ he winked.
after many more minutes chemistry was no longer on the paper. you were laughing at his stupid jokes and looking at pictures of his dog. at some point he took off his glasses to rub his eyes, looking genuinely tired, which made him look weirdly attractive. you both decided to pack up as the library started to turn more empty. as you were walking toward the exit, passing the vending machines, you saw a familiar silhouette in the distance. heeseung and riki were standing there, looking at their phones with their gym bags dropped at their feet. they just finished basketball practice and were waiting for jake as he told them to pick him up after he finished tutoring so they could drive home together. your heart started beating faster. if heeseung would have looked now, he maybe would have confronted you or you‘d feel deeply embarrassed for even being seen with jake. “i should go.“ you quickly said, ducking your head and quickening your pace toward the side exit. “wait-” he started, reaching out to grab your wrist to say goodbye but not catching it in time. heeseung finally looked up, alerted by the sound of the door clicking shut. all he saw was the back of a girl with familiar hair disappearing and jake standing there with a goofy smile on his face. "took you long enough.” heeseung muttered, walking over to jake, his eyes still looking at the door you just exited. "who was that?" jake just shrugged, ”dude i told you just someone in my science class.“ heeseung’s jaw tightened. he felt a weird sensation in his chest. it was a mix of the silence from his online 'soulmate' and the scent of your perfume that was definitely still hanging in the air around jake.

[y/n’s pov]
you and your friends were chilling at yunjin‘s house, three of you sitting on the couch, two of you on the floor. you were sitting next to yunjin, your head resting on her shoulder with your legs up on the couch, watching tiktoks with her. rei and minji were watching tv, absolutely geeked out. giselle was talking about something like she always does. yunjin switched to twitter and checked any new posts when suddenly she saw heeseung posted something not even thirty minutes ago. she immediately scrolled back up and zoomed in. “holy, he tanmaxxed.” she meant, opening the comments just to see his friends hyping him up, making her laugh. “ugh, why is everyone on vacation?“ you replied, removing your head from her shoulder and leaning back on the couch while still looking at her screen. can such a jerk stop being so hot? you thought. she looked at you from the side, thinking at what you just said.” who else is?“ she asked. “wolf.“ you replied, eyes glued to the tv now. giselle, who was next to yunjin, slightly slapped her foot to symbolize her to not accidentally spill something. yunjin just nodded, clearly wanting to say something but couldn’t. ”did you guys see yeonjun‘s new post as well?“ giselle meant, trying to change the topic. you all shook your heads in unison until giselle let out a big sigh, ”can‘t believe he got a girlfriend now.“ she crossed her arms, demanding attention from everyone, even the ones sitting on the floor. minji slightly turned down the volume and turned around to look at her: “what? since when?“ she asked. ”dunno, maybe a week or so.“ giselle pouted. ”it‘s not like i wanted him or something but it just ruined any type of chance. even chances of coitus.” she added. you just leaned forward to have a better view of giselle: ”he probably doesn‘t even know what that word means, it was for the better.“ you said. she nodded in agreement but still looking quite sad. ”jungwon actually told me he‘s scared to engage in coitus just yet a few days ago.“ minji randomly dropped, looking at you guys as if she didn‘t just say that. “he was your first kiss, you probably were his. i see why.“ rei meant, acting all therapeutic. ”plus it‘s kind of cool. i know we joked about it at first but i think he‘s serious about you.“ yunjin said, still scrolling through twitter. ”mhm.“ minji simply said, standing up. ”can we order food now?“
after spending way too long choosing which pizzas to order, they finally arrived. the kitchen was a mess. yunjin aggressively tried to split a pizza that wasn‘t cut properly, while rei was uncertain about which soda to drink. she chose to drink all of them in seperate cups. “you‘re going to get a bellyache, rei. i‘m not sleeping next to you today.“ giselle gave her a side eye. you loved sleepovers with your friends, there was nothing more fun and genuine. ”geez giselle live a little, didn‘t wanna sleep next to you anyways.“ she hissed back, startled by yunjin suddenly groaning out. ”stupid pizza, first it’s not cut properly, the cardboard boxes are greasier than my hair on day 2 and now they accidentally put olives on it.“ you looked at her, expression turning into a frown. ”olives? i hate olives.“ yunjin nodded, “twin just another me.“ she sighed out.
you sat on the counter, swinging your feet while picking out the olives off your slice. rei was drinking drink 1, taking a bite, drinking drink 2, taking a bite, drinking drink 3 and taking a bite and no one gave a damn because it was the most rei thing ever. you were all so hungry you didn‘t even make it to the dining room. your phone, which was next to you, started buzzing. of course all of your friends attention immediately went to it. ”i wonder who it is.“ minji jokingly said, raising her eyebrows at you while taking a bite. “wolf or heeseung?“ yunjin added to minji‘s playfulness, your friends looking at her as if they were planning her death right there. you picked up your phone but looked at her for a second, “what‘s that even supposed to mean?“ you asked, visibly confused. giselle tried to save the situation by thinking of an excuse. “what she means is that you‘re recently uh,“ she looked around. “talking a lot about heeseung. not sure when the shift of your feelings happened but uh,“ and once again she looked around. “i think yunjin was trying to joke about how he probably texted you because you‘re thinking about him?“ she looked at the ceiling, embarrassed by what the hell she just said and how it made zero sense. “you guys are weird,“ you chuckled. “also i don‘t even talk about him. i don‘t like him.” you confidently added. yunjin just gave you a ‘mhmm sure' face while minji spoke up: “they‘re right, y/n. it‘s like you want wolf and heeseung at the same time.“ minji meant. “because wolf is the nicest dude i‘ve ever met, but heeseung is annoying and unfortunately so hot. but i don’t like neither of them.“ you rolled your eyes at the last part. ”i never liked yeonjun either. he‘s a man whore. but i‘d hit and that‘s what counts.“ giselle confessed, taking another slice. “i don‘t want to fuck heeseung, bruh. it‘s just.. he‘s been weirdly nice lately and it’s freaking me out because on one hand it‘s really cute but him being rude was also intriguing to me and i don‘t know when i started thinking like this but i cannot stop thinking about him at all.“ you said, all in one breath, finally breathing out at the end of your sentence, wondering why the hell you just said that. your friends just looked at you, not moving a single bit. “damn,“ yunjin mumbled. “you‘re down bad.“ she added, fighting every single cell in her body not to tell you that they‘re both the same person. “you‘re here thirsting over him while he‘s on hawaii probably fucking some girls.“ rei said, trying to make you not suspect wolf could be heeseung. yunjin didn‘t get the hint and looked at her confused, ”his post said greece though. heeseung is in greece.“ rei face palmed herself. you on the other hand, you stopped moving for a second. wolf said he‘s in greece, you thought. your stomach did a weird little flip but you pushed it down pretty fast as your friends suddenly started changing the topic. weird coincidence.
[at the bonfire, y/n’s pov]
the bonfire was located at the old boathouse near the school‘s lake this time. you had to carry your heavy bags to the walk-in pantry to store your food because the teachers always prepared activities before the actual bonfire started, so the food needed a safe place to stay. there you were in the back of the dark pantry, trying to organize packages of cookies, marshmallows, and chocolate. it was scary being there all alone in a dark room that smelled like old wood and lake water. you were praying no bug would find its way onto your body. suddenly, you heard someone humming outside. you turned around, holding your cookies in front of you as if they‘d protect you. someone started kicking the door. you gulped, stepping back. it was heeseung, his humming turning into him cursing under his breath. he was holding a heavy crate of wood that the teacher told him to store in the dry corner and because he didn‘t want to drop it, he had kicked the door open. ”you fucking scared the hell out of me.” your voice went an octave deeper. he let out a sharp huff, ignoring your comment as he dropped the crate with a heavy thud near your feet. as he was about to leave, he grabbed the iron handle. it didn’t budge. he frowned, pulling harder. a loud noise came from the other side. ”you have to be kidding. please be kidding.” he muttered, throwing himself against the wooden door. you put your face in your hands, sighing. “you broke the door, congrats.“ he looked at you while trying to reach for his phone. “whatever, we’ll just.. text someone,“ he stated. you looked at him with a serious expression. “they‘re not even here yet, heeseung.“

you were backed up against the shelf, your hip pressing against the cookies. there was silence between you two and due to the darkness, everything looked low-saturated. heeseung was visibly exhausted from his vacation, sighing every once in a while. he eventually gave up on the door, leaning his back against it and sliding down until he was sitting on the floor. his legs were stretched out, nearly touching your feet. ”sit down. you standing stresses me.” he stated, looking at you from below. you hesitated but eventually sank down as well, the shelf poking into your back. you felt a shiver run down your spine. your heart was pounding, nearly falling out of your chest. to break the silence, you cleared your throat before speaking. “you‘re, uhm, tan.” you awkwardly looked away. “you can’t even properly see me right now.” he slightly chuckled. “i‘m trying to make this less awkward.” you replied. heeseung looked away, his heart doing a weird double-thud. being this close to you and smelling your perfume was confusing. every time he looked at you, he felt a pull, but then his mind drifted to cloud. he felt like he was betraying a girl he’d never met for a girl who usually couldn't stand him. ”why are you being so quiet?“ you asked softly. ”usually, you'd have five different insults ready.“ you joked, not even laughing. ”i’m tired, y/n.” he admitted, his gaze now shifting toward you. “is that allowed? and i‘d rather stay here than do more work.“ he added.
plenty of minutes of silence passed, just you guys being on your phones doomscrolling. your battery died long ago but you pretended nothing happened because you’re awkward, so in reality, you were just staring at your dark screen. heeseung suddenly spoke out, startling you. ”can‘t you text your friends? mine are clearly irresponsible.” he asked, still in the same tired tone from before. ”uh, my phone died,“ you said, showing him your screen. ”oh, okay.” he replied, ”just use mine.“ he handed you his phone. “you still love offering me your things, don‘t you?“ you giggled, taking it. “you want to get out of this cold ass room or do you want to endure this silence any longer?“ he added, chuckling. ”touché.” you said defeatedly. he already had instagram open, so you went to yunjin‘s account and sent her a dm.
[l.heeseung: yunnie it’s me y/n]
[l.heeseung: are u guys here yet pls say yes]
[yunsdiary: ??? wtf]
[yunsdiary: why r u texting from heeseungs acc]
[l.heeseung: my phone died and we‘re stuck in the pantry]
[l.heeseung: please open the door]
[yunsdiary: we‘re not even there yet y/n, we‘re otw]
[yunsdiary: aren‘t his friends there yet?]
[l.heeseung: dunno maybe, thx anyways]
you sighed, turning off his phone. his screen lit up automatically because you accidentally touched it while handing it back. your eyes widened at the wallpaper. you immediately pulled your hand back and pressed the screen again to get a better look. it was the picture wolf had sent you a few days ago, the one of the sunset from his vacation. it wasn't just similar. it was the exact same one. your breath hitched. you looked at him, then back at his phone. ”uh, y/n? my phone, please.“ he demanded. “heeseung, this picture-” you started, but you were interrupted by someone knocking maniacally. someone was teasingly singing heeseung's name. heeseung didn‘t answer as he was looking at you confused, shaking his head in a silent ‘what?’ way. due to him not replying, the person knocked harder. “wolfie, i know you‘re in there!“ it was riki, followed by his own loud laugh. ”how the hell do we open this shit? how did you even manage to break this, dude?“ it was jake, probably looking around for windows. you stood up, his phone falling into his lap. before you were able to look at him from above, he stood up as well, asking if you were fine over and over again with his hand on your shoulder. you moved your shoulder back, unable to even look him in the face. he had no idea what was going on but he thought you had just caught him doing something he didn't even realize he'd done. ”okay dude, move back. we‘re going to kick the door!” jake screamed out. heeseung immediately pulled you toward the wall, making space for his friends. “y/n, what?“ he whispered again. you shook your head in response. after a few tries, they managed to kick down the door. ”riki and jake, here to save the day as usual.” riki said with a huge grin on his face, his voice slowly trailing off when he saw your face. “oh, we didn‘t know you had company.“ he drily said. ”whoever owns this has to fix their shitty equipm-” heeseung said before you storming off interrupted him. ”damn, what’s with her?“ jake asked.
about two hours later, when all the 'bonding activities' planned by the teachers were finally done, you were sitting with your friends at the bonfire. students and teachers were laughing and mumbling in the background while minji’s music was playing in the background. all this time, you had barely spoken to anyone. your friends were worried but didn‘t really say anything. wolf can‘t be heeseung. heeseung can‘t be wolf. they‘re two different worlds. heeseung has been telling me about his crush all along. i saw his back. i‘m so confused. he knows everything about my family. hell, he knows about all my worries. i talked to him about him? i know about his family. i can’t believe his life isn’t as perfect as he makes it seem. what the hell is going on, you repetitively thought. ”y/n, stop scaring the marshmallows.” minji‘s voice suddenly ripped you out of your thoughts. giselle sighed, happy someone finally confronted you. “what‘s wrong? you‘ve been moody all night. was there really a ghost in the pantry?“ she asked, wrapping her arm around you. ”if the ghost is called heeseung, yes.” you stated, roasting your marshmallow. “come on it couldn‘t have been that bad.“ giselle looked at you from the side. “and now i know who wolf is.“ you added, making yunjin groan in amusement. ”fucking finally. god bless.“ you turned to look at her, your eyebrows scrunched up. “you knew?“ yunjin cleared her throat, trying to hide her excitement. “we told you we figured it out. we didn‘t tell you for a reason.“ you scoffed, disappointed by their actions. ”in this case, you could have told me. and should have.” you replied, eating your marshmallow before it could burn. “you can’t seriously be mad, y/n. you said you didn’t want to know.” yunjin replied in a serious tone. ”does he know?“ she asked curiously. you shook your head. ”tell us everything again. from the beginning to the end.“

[lunch time, y/n‘s pov]
”y/n. i can‘t hold it a secret anymore.“ yunjin suddenly spoke out, startling you. “you killed my family?“ you asked. she reached for your hands to keep you grounded: ”we think, well i think, i might know who wolf is.“ she enthusiastically looked at you, hoping for a ’wow yunjin, you‘re so smart, how did you find out?‘. ”no! don‘t tell me!“ you pulled your hands back. she pouted, looking at your phone. “fine but at least text him right now. i want to see something.” she suggested, standing up to squeeze next to you so she has a better view of all the people in the cafeteria. you shook your head, ”dude, how about no?“ she looked at you from the side, pouting again. “pretty please y/n, i‘ve been thinking about this allllll night.“ you squinted your eyes in confusion, wondering why it bugged her so badly. you picked up your phone and opened the app, your thumbs flying over the keyboard. ”what do i even ask him?“ you looked up to your friends one more time. “uh, about the test?“ rei added. as soon as you sent the notification, yunjin scanned her surroundings, pretending she’s an eagle who has 20/20 vision. she carefully looked at heeseung‘s corner, without you noticing, the one him and his friends always sit in. she stared into his soul from the distance, wondering if his phone would lit up. and it did. but so coincidentally did all of their phones. she didn‘t even see riki was laughing at his phone the whole time, probably spamming meme after meme in their groupchat. ”dude, whatever,“ she rolled her eyes and sat back in her spot, ”just wait till i get proper proof.“
[after school, y/n‘s pov]
you were putting your books inside your locker, almost ready to finally leave school. heeseung was using the vending machine that was really close to the lockers, eyes widening at the machine as it accidentally gave him two ice teas instead of one. even though it should be a good thing, there weren’t many people around and as you were in his sight, he had an idea. the second you closed the locker door, a face appeared behind it, making you take a sudden step back. ”here.“ he simply said, handing you the bottle. you looked around, confused why he gave it to you. ”did you put shaving cream inside it as well?“ you jokingly said with a strangely good serious pokerface. he rolled his eyes, leaning against the locker: ”it‘s just ice tea y/n, you’re one of the only people around here. you want it or not?“ clearly waiting for a response. be nice. take chances and initiate. just like cloud said, he thought. ”why would i take it, we aren’t even friends.“ you meant, picking up your backpack from the floor and putting it over your shoulder. “fine then, die of dehydration or something.“ he defeatedly said, lowkey hurt. it shouldn’t matter that much to him. ”and walk straight, your poor back.“
[time skip to some days later, y/n‘s pov]
some days later, you found yourself sitting in the library, sitting against one of the bookshelves. you were trying to read this one literature for class, originally with minji who cancelled on you last minute because ”jungwon wanted to take her out.“ it was hard concentrating. you were reading the words without reading them at all. even though you were wearing headphones, they didn‘t really block out your thoughts at all. until they died. your headphones died. now you were left alone with your thoughts. you sighed, leaning your head against the shelf, shifting your position to feel more comfortable. nope, still not properly being able to read. suddenly, you saw heeseung and jay walk past you. heeseung took a step back and looked at you, ”y/n?“ you looked to your right, not really feeling like talking. ”why the long face?“ he teased, approaching you. jay didn't bother checking what‘s up, just looking for something in the shelves. “what?“ you simply asked, looking up. “isn‘t it uncomfortable?“ he asked, now crossing his arms. you nodded, shifting your gaze back to your book. “my headphones just died,“ you took a deep breath, ”and my butt hurts,“ you added. he reached for his pocket, ”uhm, you can have mine. i mean, lend them. me and jay have to start this project anyways so i won’t need them.“ he gulped, his ears heating up. for a heartthrob, he surely was not the most experienced. “you really like offering me things, don‘t you?“ you said with a slight chuckle. he tried hiding his excitement by saying “you just always look like you need stuff,“ he nonchalantly stated. a short and dry ”ouch“ left your mouth. before you were able to connect your phone to them, he stopped you. “shit, i forgot. jake always stole my earphones so i had to block everyone from being able to connect to them.” he awkwardly looked around, thinking for a solution. “uh, so,“ he scratched the side of his head. “well, aren’t you the smartest?” you dryly said, still looking up at him. ”whatever, just turn on something. it‘s too quiet in here.“ he nodded and immediately took out his phone. “just put some songs into queue,“ he handed you his phone, “wait, let me choose the first one.“ he immediately grabbed it back, stressing over what to play. he has always been really enthusiastic about music and especially proud of his own music taste. once he played the song, your face lit up and a smile formed on your face. of course, he noticed your change of mood instantly. it was a song wolf put in the playlist he made for you, a song you especially liked. ”hey, you know this song? i tried to be niche by playing this but-” you interrupted him, your voice higher than before: ”you kidding? i freaking love it!“ he locked in again, not wanting to seem too excited. ”you‘ll have to sit nearer, though, otherwise it‘s going to disconnect,“ he stated, handing you his phone but for real this time. “only if you promise to leave me alone after this.“

[at the party, y/n‘s pov]
the bass of the music was all you could feel in every single cell of your body. the backyard looked straight out of a movie: blue lights glowing in the pool, people splashing around, and the smell of cologne mixed with whiskey and chlorine filling your nostrils. “okay, remember the plan.“ yunjin yelled over the music, adjusting her sunglasses even though it was like nine pm. “we look hot, we stay together, and we do NOT let the boys see us looking for them. got it?“ “too late,” giselle groaned, pointing toward the lounge chairs. the seven insufferable dwarfs were already in full swing. riki was currently trying to push beomgyu into the water, while heeseung was laughing, holding a drink and looking way too good in a simple shirt. you scanned the crowd, your heart doing a nervous little dance. was one of them wolf? or was he someone else? or somewhere else? inside the house, perhaps? maybe he wasn't even here yet.
“y/n, watch out!”
you didn't have time to react before a giant splash hit you square in the face. you wiped your eyes, sputtering, to see sunoo grinning at you from inside the pool. “oops,” he said, not sounding sorry at all. “you looked a little dry, thought i‘d help you out.” ”i‘m going to kill you.” you hissed, grabbing a nearby floatie and hitting him over the head with it. yeonjun walked toward you like the good host is, handing out drinks. “have fun, ladies.” he winked before walking off. ”holy shit, i actually need that.” giselle said, her gaze following yeonjun like a desperate groupie. “do we swim now?” minji asked after taking a sip. still trying to wipe away the water drops that had managed to get everywhere, you answered immediately: “let‘s look around first, maybe talk to some people.” they all nodded in unison like a cult.
once inside the house, your unserious friends began looking at family pictures of yeonjun that were placed on almost every shelf. no wonder he’s so confident. ”oh my god, baby gyu. he looks the same!” yunjin pointed at the photo, the same hand still clutching her drink. even though beomgyu was the biggest weirdo you'd ever met, you were still close to him. being in the same science class as him wasn't for the weak, you usually left the classroom feeling stupider than when you entered. as your friends began getting lost in conversation, you quickly checked your phone. nothing. you wanted to break your own rules and escape the handcuffs you chose to wear. it was fun, but you didn't want his perception of you to change just because he knew who you were. for all you knew, he could turn out to be the biggest asshole from asshole-hausen.
[you]: hi
[you]: here yet?
no response. pathetic. leave the damn boy alone, you thought. you shoved the phone back into your pocket. “should we go swim now?” you asked, clearly bored. “but we were just discussing if giraffes sleep with their heads down or just lie on the ground!” rei piped up. “just ask riki, his neck is really long.“ minji drily answered, making you choke on your drink.
the pool was relatively full, but you couldn't care less. rei was very serious about her unfunny-timewasting-giraffe-hypothesis and went around asking strangers to prove her point. you all left your clothes near the pool on one of the chairs, hoping no one would steal your stuff. before placing your phone down, you checked your notifications one last time. your eyes widened.
[🐺: it's pretty boring tbh]
[🐺: pleassseeee give me one hint]
[🐺: what color is your bikini?]
[🐺: wait that sounds weird not that i look at bikinis]
[🐺: okay what drink are you drinking yea that's more gentlemenish]
[🐺: nooooo wait come back]
you smiled at the screen, knowing he had to be somewhere nearby. the thing was, you didn’t want to answer. you wanted him to be alone with his boredom. a part of you liked his desperation. you put your phone back into your bag and walked towards your friends. “do we do any cool tricks or just jump?” minji asked awkwardly. “in case any hot dude is watching, we have to step in slowly. sensually, like pamela anderson in bay-“ before giselle could finish, someone pushed you into the pool from behind. it was heeseung. still holding the same drink with the same old grin. “or, uh... like that,” she added, looking at you worriedly.
“what the fuck, heeseung?” you snapped, pushing your hair out of your face. you saw him looking down at you while riki fist-bumped his shoulder, both of them laughing their asses off. minji jumped in but accidentally kicked jungwon. she apologized a thousand times but he just put a hand on her shoulder, telling her it was fine over and over again until they somehow started talking about upcoming tests. hell, never put two socially awkward nerds in a pool. a bit after your friends joined, heeseung and riki had hopped in too. ”ugh, never drink alcohol and swim after, my stomach hurts.” giselle groaned. ”thanks for the warning, it‘s not like everyone is doing it right now,“ yunjin added, her sunglasses falling onto her face for the tenth time. you were about to say something when something hit your head. not again. it was beomgyu, who had thrown a ball-shaped floatie at you. ”hey beomgyu!” you smiled. ”you guys wanna join us?” he asked enthusiastically. ”we’re not joining your orgy.” yunjin raised an eyebrow. “uh no, we play throw the ball, catch the ball, then throw it back. or something like that dunno,” he looked behind him at heeseung and riki. “with them.” “you simply could have said play with the b—” giselle started, but as soon as she saw yeonjun joining them, her tone changed instantly. “—all! YES, gyu, we’d love to join you.”
“bro, did you guys see how yeonjun called me baby? dude the pool isn't the only wet thing right now.” giselle, completely out of breath from excitement. you had all been playing for at least fifteen minutes before deciding it was time for a break and some more fuel. the fuel, of course, being alcohol. the three of you walked towards the chair where you’d left your things. rei was supposed to be guarding them but she had gotten distracted talking to another student. as you approached, rei shifted her focus toward you and then back to the stranger. “tell them.“ she demanded. the other student looked at her like a confused dog, unsure of what to say. rei pointed at her own neck. ”oh yeah, we agreed that giraffes lie down to sleep.“ the student said proudly, as if they had just discovered the meaning of life. “pff, i still don’t believe that.“ yunjin countered immediately. you reached for the towel tucked under rei‘s legs and pulled your phone out of your bag to check the time. it‘s time to reply, you thought.
[you: black]
he answered almost immediately.
[🐺: took you a while]
[🐺: also thank you for the advice]
[🐺: i‘ll give you updates as soon as we’re out of here]
you scanned the area, trying to spot who else was on their phone. unfortunately, almost everyone was. as you looked around, your gaze accidentally crashed into heeseung’s. he was holding his phone, clearly searching the crowd as well. how awkward. unfortunately for wolf, "black" wasn't much of a hint as half the girls at the party were wearing black bikinis. beomgyu walked towards you, bringing a fresh round of drinks and bragging about how his team was finally going to win. they had four players and you only had three, and yet, somehow, you were still crushing them at floatie-volleyball.
23 minutes into the second round, the once "silly game" officially turned into “survival of the fittest.“ the booze definitely kicked in for everyone. the backyard was louder than ever and beomgyu managed to convince more people to join, turning the match into a chaotic mixed-team brawl instead of a simple gender-war.
team 1: you, yunjin, giselle, heeseung, jungwon, taehyun
team 2: riki, jake, yeonjun, beomgyu, minji
the pool was crowded, the teams were uneven, and everyone had one goal: winning. the losers had to drink a mixed alcoholic drink personally made by the winners, meaning you’d either leave the party ultra-drunk with the worst hangover of your life, or leave just as drunk but with the pride of winning beomgyu’s random game.
you were mid-air, about to spike a floatie that someone threw super high, when you suddenly felt a pair of hands grab your waist from underwater. you were hoisted up for a boost and you accidentally slammed the ball directly into riki‘s face. it was heeseung. he acted before he could think, blaming it on instincts. the whole pool erupted. riki dramatically pretended to faint into the water while beomgyu screamed, "FOUL! UNFAIR! you guys already have more members than us!“ you looked at heeseung confused, raising one eyebrow. ”sorry.” he murmured, his ears turning red from embarrassment.
just as things were getting interesting, the music cut off suddenly. yuna was pouring a drink over sunghoon, who was standing casually at a small table talking to a friend. ”holy shit, i wish i could film this.” taehyun mumbled from the inside the pool. in the chaos of everyone rushing to the edge of the pool to record the drama, you found yourself cornered by the stairs. heeseung was right there, blocking your path out, still breathing hard from the game while looking down at you. ”you‘re a good player for someone who usually spends all their time studying.” he said, chuckling at his own lame joke. ”oh, blow me.“ you mocked him.
about five minutes later, you and your friends were hiding in yeonjun‘s bathroom, redoing your lipliner and adjusting your clothes (+ avoiding the drinks beomgyu and his team were going to mix for you as this time your team lost). your phone was lying on the sink while you tried to fix your necklace when the screen suddenly lit up. giselle, standing right next to you, curiously looked at it immediately.
[🐺: no reply yet? ouch]
[🐺: what about another hint]
”uh, y/n,“ she said, holding in a giggle. ”who the hell is wolf and why do you have unmask?“ you immediately snatched the phone. ”i have no idea what you're talking about.” you said awkwardly, your cheeks heating up. ”hey, let me see!“ yunjin tried to peek over your shoulder. ”y/n, we don't hide secrets from each other, remember?“ her tone suddenly became serious you sighed and sat down on the edge of the bathtub. ”please don't laugh.“
”he’s at the PARTY?" rei scoffed. ”first of all, i’m mad at you for not telling us about your family, no, i’m not actually mad, but-” minji started but rei cut her off. ”what she’s saying is she doesn’t understand why you don't take the chance and actually meet him today! god damn it, it’s a party! where else would you do it?" she buried her face in her hands, clearly excited but also and disappointed. ”guys, it is not that serious.“ you said in a flat voice. yunjin placed her hands on her hips. ”not that serious? how much more intimate can it get than trauma-dumping?” she sighed. ”maybe because he told me he wants to make a fucking move on the girl he likes at this party," you admitted, looking away to avoid their eyes. ”and uh, because i met him like two days ago.” giselle squatted down in front of you, her hands resting on your lap. ”okay then let’s play by your rules. give him another hint. he asked nicely.” you stared at her for a few seconds before reaching for the phone. “he already knows my bikini is black. i already feel too exposed.” ”so is the bikini of half the population, y/n. just say... hm... that you're inside the house.” you opened unmask, but your fingers went in a different direction.
[you: why am i the only one giving hints]
[you: it’s your turn]
”fuck y/n that‘s not what i said dude.“ giselle sighed in disappointment. “sorry i just can‘t. i don‘t want to. not yet.“ you pouted, looking at your screen. ”you seriously watch too many romance movies y/n.“ minji laughed. ”hey, says the one who talked to jungwon basically half the night. go make out with him already.“ you snapped back, defending yourself. she surely didn‘t expect the focus to shift on her: ”oh, well, i don‘t know he‘s pretty nice. if i only hadn‘t kicked him.“ you put your hand on her shoulder, just like jungwon did to mock him, ”you watch too many action movies. sign up for karate classes.“ she rolled her eyes in response until your screen lit up once again.
[🐺: i‘m not wearing shoes]
[you: dude it‘s a pool party]
[🐺: lmao]
[🐺: text you when i‘m home, cloud. gotta do sth 🙂↔️🙂↔️]
“cloud?“ rei said, ”oh yeah right your emoji.“ you turned off your phone, looking up at your friends. “what an asshole.“ giselle and yunjin accidentally said simultaneously. ”minji, let‘s get you to make out with jungwon.“ giselle looked up at minji. you were all laughing in unison when someone knocked on the bathroom door: ”y/n? giselle? yunjin?” it was beomgyu. “don‘t think you can escape our tasty tranquilizers. come out!“ his speech slightly muffled due to him being super drunk. “ugh fuck.“
the walk to the kitchen alone felt like a death march. team 2, minus minji, was already gathered around the kitchen island like a coven of witches brewing a cursed potion. “finally! the losers have accepted their fate.” jake said out loud, only looking at yunjin. “it was a tactical retreat, you know.” she snapped back at jake. ”why are there only five drinks? we were six.“ you looked confused, waiting for an answer. heeseung just smirked at you. “what the fuck? no! he‘s on our team, shouldn’t he be punished twice for backing down?“ you annoyingly meant. an agreement is an agreement. “considering that logic, minji should be punished twice as well. she didn‘t help team 2 make the drinks.“ he countered. “well fuck you, you incompetent losers.” you snapped back, slightly giggling at the end of the sentence. it‘s hard to actually be angry while defending your friend when you‘re already really tipsy. riki stepped forward, leaning against the island to get everyone’s attention over the loud music: “we made one drink each.“
“for yunjin, a double shot of soju and vinegar because you’re always so.. so.. sour. hmmm, yummy, made by sim jaeyun personally.” jake was so drunk you guys could barely understand what spell he was saying. back then he would have actually been accused of being a wizard.
”for jungwon, gin mixed with milk and hot sauce. i hope the bathroom isn’t occupied.” beomgyu proudly held up his drink, passing it to jungwon, who looked at minji begging for help.
“for giselle, tequila but instead of salt and lime, it’s coated with mustard and pepper,“ yeonjun stated, smiling at her. she looked at the drink and then back up at yeonjun: “doesn‘t sound or look too bad.“ ”had to be generous for you, wouldn’t want you to throw up.” he winked at her. all you guys could hear was riki fake vomiting because of that statement.
“for my bro taehyun, whiskey, some root beer and another thing, sorry i forgot.” riki said, passing his drink to taehyun. “dude, you also added pepper, lime and uhhh another thing.“ beomgyu exposed him. ”dude and a fucking yolk. i can see it myself, it‘s right there.” taehyun whiningly stated, pointing at his drink.
“lastly for y/n, white rum, peppermint schnapps and tabasco.” heeseung proudly offered you your drink. ”oh and whipped cream, which is actually shaving cream because we ran out of it. don’t drink it.“ he pointed at the top. the room collectively made a disgusted sound. ”what the heck is your problem?“ you pouted, looking at your drink. ”my problem? my problem is that you‘re still talking and not drinking. go!“ he chuckled. you chugged the drink in one go, your face twisting into the most disgusted expression of all time. “dude, you gave her a mustache!“ beomgyu pointed at you, nearly falling. it‘s not that funny, you thought. ”holy shit.“ you mumbled under your breath, about to wipe your face, but heeseung was faster, his thumb cleaning the shaving cream off your face. ”let‘s hope you didn‘t swallow it.“ ”that sounds horribly wrong.“ riki said while laughing his ass off, minji slightly kicked his leg, ”shut up, you‘re like ten.“
once everyone chugged their drinks, you guys were talking about which was the worst one. ”dude, clearly it was mine, the yolk was so unnecessary.“ taehyun insisted, his elbows resting on the island. ”shut up, yolks taste like nothing. mine was like pure death. death is actually forming inside my stomach right now,“ jungwon jokingly said. “nah, in front of the huzz?“ riki judged his choice of words. while everyone was laughing and talking to each other, you were silent for some seconds because realization hit you: why are we guys here with them, the most annoying people on this earth? is that what alcohol can do to people? i wonder what wolf is doing right now…

[lunch time, y/n‘s pov]
”y/n? earth to y/n!” was all you heard before being ripped out of your slumber. how did you manage to fall asleep during lunch? in the middle of the full, loud, and headache-inducing cafeteria? you carefully rubbed your eyes as you realized what had happened. “what in the world was that about, y/n?” yunjin teased, letting out a chuckle. giselle, whose mouth was full of food, couldn’t help but mock you too. where are her manners? you thought, before quickly realizing that falling asleep face-first in your lunch wasn't exactly peak etiquette either. ”sorry guys, didn’t sleep much.” you simply stated. you stared at your tray, wondering if eating your cold pizza is worth it. “you and no sleep? you‘re usually the first one out at sleepovers.” rei said. her truthful statement made you giggle. ”you missed a lot.” minji said softly, giving you a gentle smile from the side. you just mumbled in response, too lazy to actually form words. “first of all-” giselle started, ready to spill some 'life-changing' drama, when yunjin suddenly cut her off. ”let me tell it!” giselle pouted in response, ”fine, but i‘m telling her the sunghoon part.”
“okay, so jake and his friends were late for lunch, god knows what or who they were doing, but there wasn't much food left,” yunjin said, a giggle interrupting her speech. “they actually had to go to the store to buy something because the vending machines were empty too.” you sat there, half-lidded and not even touching your food, waiting for her to finish. “get to the point woman.” giselle urged, eager to tell her story. ”damn okay! long story short, they took a picture of you sleeping and posted it on twitter.” your eyes widened in shock. “what? how does that even correlate with them having to go to the store?” ”no idea, but the thought of them not getting food and having to do extra work is funny.” yunjin replied, now eating her well-deserved dessert after all the storytelling. ”did i really sleep that long? and seriously, twitter?” giselle placed her hand on yours, forcing you to focus on her. “and that wasn’t even the best part,” she said, a bright smile spreading across her face. “there‘s this one girl, yunah? yumi? whatever. she used to date sunghoon. and they... wait, what was it again?” she looked at yunjin for help. “he cheated,” yunjin responded dramatically. giselle snapped her attention back to you. “yes! he fucking cheated! she stormed into the cafeteria and since the boys were standing anyways she pushed him. no seriously, it was a whole ass argument. she did it because, uh...” once again, she looked at yunjin. they were like two idiots sharing a single brain cell. ”her best friend,” yunjin prompted. “right! she knew he cheated, which is why they broke up, but she just found out he cheated with her best friend! now she posted it on twitter and everything. ugh, the downfall of park sunghoon..” giselle leaned back in her chair in a cinematic way, ”what a time to be alive.”
