Scallops incoming!
A stupid little hike for my stupid little mental health. It worked.
The season for the midnight Sun is ending, the season for epic sunsets starts. And in a month the aurora will be visible again.
The howling winds and rain took a short break, and the lake came alive. So glad I have befriended all these landowners who let me cross fields, sneak past sheep and horses and fish their waters.
First night that the sun made a tiny dip below the horizon this summer, for a couple of minutes. Still midnight sun and bright all night.
If you mess with my neighbours I will end you.
Summer
It's Puffin season here in Iceland. Greet them, don't eat them.
The backyard.
By request from @mancalledhoss here is some candy for the arctic char here in Iceland. It's a strange season, normally the beginning of the season means fish fresh from the ocean and quite flashy flies in strong colours. Basically what I might use for sea run trout on the coast. But this year they showed up and started feeding on midge straight away. So thin tippet and flies in the size of #14-18. This is the CDC Midge, a pattern by Devin Olsen that has worked wonders for me the last couple of years.
I know nothing about your neighbours, but I know that mine are better.
Our favourite kind of summer guest here in Iceland. Never complain about high prices or suddenly break in front of you on the highway to take a picture of a horse.
Finally the sea run arctic char is starting to run the rivers here in my corner of Iceland. It's been a long winter behind the fly tying vice.
