Will join and do @juanjoltaire ‘s inktober prompt list with witches as a theme, wish me good luck!
decided to make some inktober prompts of my own for this year! if anyone would like to use these, please feel free!
I’m doing this again this year!!
Trying out the colours from the Dr. Ph Martin concentrated watercolour set B that I got for Christmas. Prettyyyy. My faves are the bottom ones minus the neon green. :P
oct 15 | revising, revising, revising again!
My favourite study materials! 😍 QOTD: what is your favourite stationery? Photo from my studygram: @rotina_de_estudo
Totally going into my shopping cart!
| 8/20 days of summer | since some people were asking how my bullet journal looks after filled in, here it is!! as I have much more time in summer, my spreads look relatively clean, but when school starts they get really insane hahha

Sometimes being productive in the morning can be very difficult, so here are some tips on how to boost your productivity and stop procrastinating in the morning!
1. Get plenty of sleep-try to get at least 7-9 hours sleep at night so that you actually feel awake and willing to get up in the morning!
2. Change out of your pyjamas-although they are so comfy, keeping your PJ’s on is more likely to make you feel sleepy and want to go back to bed. You can still stay comfortable by putting on workout clothes or yoga pants.
3. Drink a glass of cold water-it’s honestly so refreshing in the morning. Keep a bottle or glass beside your bed.
4. Exercise-anything from 30 minutes of yoga to a walk to the park. You don’t need to go to the gym, but any form of exercise gets the blood pumping round your body, leaving you wide awake and ready to be productive.
5. Lay out everything you need the night before-this includes the clothes your going to wear, work you want to do and anything else you might need. Because it is already laid out you’ll feel less need to procrastinate.
6. Plan your time effectively-making a schedule for the day or using a planner/ bullet journal is great as you can allocate time slots for each task you have to do and it is extremely satisfying to tick things off. It also gives you a structure to stick to, meaning that you will know what you are doing at all times. Just remember to give yourself breaks!
7. Bye bye electronics-make sure to switch off all electronics you won’t be needing and put them in another room. You can even get someone to hide your phone from you if you think you’ll be tempted!
8. Download “Forest” app-I just downloaded this app recently and it’s amazing! It allows you to plant a tree and this tree will grow if you don’t use your phone. It’s super satisfying and really boosts my productivity, especially in the morning!
9. Eat a healthy breakfast-don’t skip breakfast, make sure that you eat something nutritious and filling, as this will make your brain more switched on and alert. I’m going to make a post soon about healthy breakfast ideas, so stay tuned for that. Some include: oatmeal, berries, bananas, smoothies, wholemeal pancakes, yoghurt.
10. Switch up your location-working/studying can be much more fun if you get out of the house sometimes. Try going to a coffee shop, library or a park if it’s a nice day. You’ll be more likely to want to wake up if you’re going out somewhere. ( I’m also going to be making a post soon about study locations, so stay tuned for that as well!)
hope this helps!
Mmm maybe changing out of pjs can be incorporated into the “Miracle Morning” challenge
so i made this post because even the laziest people in existence still have to study ha ha these are just some things i’ve been doing for my revision!
1. you don’t need to rewrite notes to memorise them
i know tons of people say that rewriting notes is a form of memory retention but honestly!!! i don’t have the energy/patience for that ha! for me, the best method to memorise things (especially content-heavy chapters/subjects) would be to record yourself talking. i don’t think this is especially catered to auditory learners, because i know for a fact that i’m not an auditory learner but this still works especially well for me so!!
i usually open up the voice recorder app and talk as if i’m teaching someone! i’d recommend you use a guidebook as reference and not the actual textbooks. guidebooks are more vague, so when you’re speaking about a particular point, you can sort of expand on the point given in the guidebook from your knowledge of the subject! this really helps for revision because you’re basically forced to remember things. you don’t necessarily need to replay your recordings. to me, the “recording” bit of this method is psychological, it makes me feel like i’m actually memorising and not just talking to myself haha.
this recording method is honestly one of the most helpful things i’ve ever started doing and i can do a more in-depth post on it if anyone asks haha
2. use different highlighters for different sections
i know literally everyone has been told this tip in their lifetime but honestly!!! it’s EXTREMELY helpful, especially if you want to do timelines for history! use different colours for things like dates, people, treaties, etc! okay but one thing about this tip that’s sort of different from others is that when you highlight dates, highlight the entire event and not just the date! so for example, instead of highlighting “28 June 1919″, highlight “The Treaty of Versailles was signed on 28 June 1919.” that way, you know the WHOLE event and the date and you’ll be more likely to remember both!
i learnt this the hard way - i used to highlight dates by themselves (maybe i was just totally dumb) and i could NEVER remember what happened on the dates lmao
3. the internet is there for you
it’s a bad habit of mine, but being a very last-minute person, i ALWAYS have doubts even the night before exams. since it’s too late to actually contact anyone, i usually have to rely on the internet. the internet has a myriad of wonderful wonderful resources that are so incredibly useful!
some youtube channels that have helped me are khanacademy (literally anything), mathbff (math), keith hughes (history), j brierly (literature)
i also recommend watching documentaries (for history/social studies) because even though it’s a more in-depth version of what you have to learn, it’ll help you understand everything better + make your essay stand out :)
4. find a suitable study space
a good study space is probably the first thing you should ensure if you want to get anything done at all. i usually never study at home, simply because i’m always distracted by trivial things such as “i’m hungry, i’m gonna get food” or “i’m so tired i’m going to sleep for five minutes”.
when i started studying outside (usually at starbucks/the library), my productivity level increased so much it blew my mind a little. even though it’s a bit troublesome because you may not be completely sure what materials to bring, you’ll still get a lot done trust me on this lmao
5. always, always plan what you want to do
i find it really taxing to plan out my entire day down to the hour, so i usually just set a certain number of things i want to complete for that day, and just let things naturally flow from there.
for example, i write the things i want to do on my calendar (finish a set of math papers, read a chapter of lit, etc.) and then i just get everything done on that day w/o planning the exact time i’m going to do it! it makes things less stressful in my opinion :)
i’ve tried planning things by hour but it usually never works out so i just stopped doing it and honestly it’s not necessary! what’s important about planning is just knowing what you need to do and then getting it done.
6. handwrite your notes whenever you can
writing your notes by hand triggers your memory more effectively than typing them out. even though i’m tempted to type out notes since i’m the laziest person in existence, i still try (most of the time) to write notes because at the end of the day, you’ll be more proud of your handwritten notes than your boring typed out ones :)
7. study with people who usually do well
this is a rather…shady….method of learning but honestly!!! when you know how the top students function, you can learn from them as well!
i’ve discovered that top students usually perform so well because they review their content regularly, unlike people like me who wait three days before the exam to start cramming everything into my brain.
keep some pictures of your notes or some flashcards with you, so that when you have pockets of time (eg. waiting for a friend, waiting for the bus, etc), you can whip them out and start reviewing :)
these people also act as tutors, so you can clarify your doubts with them and it’ll be less awkward as compared to asking an actual teacher. i know i prefer asking classmates than teachers hahaha.
OKAY i hope this helped :-) please also reblog/like this if you’re a studyblr, i’m new to the community and i wanna follow more people!!
>..< I do that too! The recording feature in Notability + scribbles on my notes = REVISION ^__^
1. Take a clipboard to school. You have to be prepared to do homework ANYWHERE at ANYTIME. Carry it in your hand with some paper and your homework clipped onto it and get work done whenever you can. Don’t keep the clipboard in your bag.
2. USE YOUR PLANNER EVERY DAY. Keeping track of assignments and important dates helps clear your mind. You don’t have to worry about remembering everything because all of it is written down. If you have a lot going on at once, start a bullet journal. If you can, divide your planner into sections based on different activities. For example, my bullet journal has 4 major sections: school work, extracurricular activities, community service, and general life issues. This creates order in the midst of chaos and also enforces the idea of taking everything one thing at a time. Your planner shouldn’t overwhelm you.
3. Get the biggest calendar you can find and hang it on the wall. The purpose of the calendar is to allow you to establish a general time frame for everything you need to do. PLAN AHEAD. Make sure EVERYTHING is on that calendar. Being overwhelmed by your planner is bad because it leads to a stressful day; your calendar takes on the role of allowing you to see the big picture. Having everything written down on a calendar creates a sense of urgency that’ll decrease the likelihood or duration of procrastination.
4. If you’re taking multiple AP classes, dedicate at least one day of the week to each subject. I had 7 AP’s so I studied a different subject each day. For example, every Monday was Macroeconomics day. I took my econ review book to school on Mondays and studied whenever I had some extra time. Start doing this 3 or 4 months before the exams in May to avoid cramming and excessive stress.
5. Sleep whenever you can but avoid sleeping on the way home from school. If you enter your home feeling sleepy the bed is going to be extra enticing.
6. If you NEED to pull an all-nighter (try to avoid them), drink a cup of straight up black coffee (no sugar) and take a 20 minute nap. It takes some time for the caffeine to kick in so you might as well get some sleep. You’ll eventually get used to the bitterness.
7. Sometimes you need to skip school but don’t skip unless you absolutely have to. If you do, you better not sleep in! Wake up normally and get to work ASAP. Do the makeup work and turn it in the next day, even if you don’t have to.
8. Study smarter, not harder. Figure out which study methods work for you. Note-taking is time-consuming so try to find alternatives. You don’t have to make everything aesthetically pleasing to post it on tumblr. In fact, if you’re compelled to take pretty notes just to post it on tumblr, LEAVE NOW. DO NOT WASTE TIME.
9. Do homework for the learning experience instead of the grade. Don’t copy work from your friends. If you use homework as a study resource, you won’t have to worry about long review sessions before a test. I have never studied for a Spanish test but the lowest score I’ve ever gotten on one is a 93. How? I did my homework.
10. STOP TRYING TO BE PERFECT. STOP IT RIGHT NOW. Perfection = waste of time. Don’t spend 10 hours writing an essay if you know you can get the same grade by only spending 2. I used to believe that the most important thing was being proud of everything you put your name on but none of that matters when you haven’t slept in 48 hours.
11. Complete the difficult tasks first. One of the many reasons people procrastinate is to avoid difficult tasks. If you save the hardest assignment for last, you’re more vulnerable to wasting time.
12. This one is very bad because it involves lying but it saved my grade a couple of times: ALWAYS turn in your homework. Why? Rarely missing an assignment gives you a good reputation and teachers tend to trust hardworking students. If you ever forget to do an assignment and you’re known to be a good student, your teacher is more likely to believe your excuse. Or, if you really left it at home, he/she/they might give you an extra day.
13. GOOGLE DRIVE IS YOUR BEST FRIEND. Can’t turn in your essay because you told yourself you’d print it in the morning and forgot? No worries! It’s in google drive! Need a past assignment for reference but have the copy at home? No worries! It’s in google drive!
14. Your study space significantly impacts productivity. Organize your room/space to maximize concentration/productivity.
15. MOST IMPORTANTLY, give yourself some time off. If you don’t, you’ll eventually burn out and nothing will be able to motivate you again. I like to go watch a movie alone once in a while because it clears my mind for 2 hours. Being constantly bombarded with due dates can lead to massive anxiety issues. And guess what? You can’t get anything done if you’re having multiple panic attacks or if you’re in bed all day because you’re depressed. Take care of yourself. School can wait but your physical and mental health can’t.

Do you have any advice for anyone looking to start a polyphasic sleep cycle? What was your adjustment period like? Is it hard to keep the routine?
I was wondering when someone would come asking about this!
For those not aware, polyphasic sleep means sleeping multiple times during one 24-hour period. Doing so generally lets people spend less time sleeping overall. Here are a few examples of polyphasic schedules:
The most extreme form of polyphasic sleep, Uberman, is comprised of six 20-minute naps, totaling only 2 hours of sleep every day. I currently sleep on an Everyman schedule—I take three 20-minute naps every day and a 3 hour core sleep. This is my old monophasic schedule compared to the Everyman one I use now:
So to answer those questions…

Chemistry Tricks for Homestucks
If you are trying to remember which is a alpha bond and which is a Beta bond
The Beta bond kind of looks like
and Dave is a Beta kid
Also,
Some molecules are Alpha or Beta depending where the OH is up or down
So I remember the Alpha kids are down with the Beta kids all up in their session
H for hot so...
Alpha is the Hot and on top.... >.~
While Beta is hot on the bottom... ^....^
How Can You Learn New Things Faster.
Step 1. Choose the concept you want to understand. Take a blank piece of paper and write that concept at the top of the page. Step 2. Pretend you’re teaching the idea to someone else. Write out an explanation of the topic, as if you were trying to teach it to a new student. When you explain the idea this way you get a better idea of what you understand and where you might have some gaps. Step 3. If you get stuck, go back to the book. Whenever you get stuck, go back to the source material and re-learn that part of the material until you get it enough that you can explain it on paper. Step 4. Simplify your language. The goal is to use your words, not the words of the source material. If your explanation is wordy or confusing, that’s an indication that you might not understand the idea as well as you thought – try to simplify the language or create an analogy to better understand it
Should do this on Notability ;)
