WOW A BOYBAND
One of the best beats I’ve ever heard. Dope futuristic shit from one of the GOAT producer/rappers EL-P.

Favorite Albums of 2017 - #12: Thundercat - ‘Drunk’
Bringing the funk…
‘Drunk’ is a weird album. Eccentric is probably a better term. At times… kind of funny. Definition of Thundercat’s musical aesthetic. It will challenge the listener with obscure references & complex arrangements. Can’t help but chuckle at Stephen’s clever stream of consciousness. Stuff we probably all say to ourselves.
Thundercat’s soulful jazz, in my opinion, is disarmingly beautiful. Like walking through a museum, where all the walls are melting. Howls of crazy vocals attacking your ear drums. In the blink of an eye, you’ll be half way through the track list wondering “What the hell?”. Find myself mesmerized by everything I’m hearing that time just fades around you. He really is like a musical Picasso. Modern day tracks that are disfiguring with grace.
The album starts to shape itself in the middle with glorious, new age jazz infused goodness focused on ballads & crazy worlds. Thundercat fuses with icons like Michael McDonald, Kenny Loggins, Wiz Khalifa, Pharrell, and his frequent collaborator… Kendrick Lamar. They all bring necessary balance to the project. But Thundercat outshines them all. You listen to understand, hoping to absorb a new level of being.
These are songs I will definitely play at the end of a party. 2AM. Laughter still infecting the room. Us, sobering up. Waiting on the shared drivers. But everyone probably will stay to hear the rest of the album. Moments that life is suppose to be about. We will all be visiting another planet until the sun blinds us.
Scratch your brain with Thundercat’s ‘Drunk’ here!
