Marilyn Monroe photographed by Andre de Dienes in Beverly Hills, 1953.
This is a series she reportedly told photographer Andre de Dienes to call “The End of Everything.”
That sleepless night, Marilyn called de Dienes, saying she couldn’t sleep, a lifelong struggle rooted in trauma and insomnia. He met her in the dark, lighting her only with his car headlights.
“It was the first time I came face to face with the dark side of Marilyn,” he later said. “She was alone, unhappy, on the edge of despair.”
